I print mine at work, doesnt cost me anything then 😇 Agree with BigRedX, the standards size is 85mm x 55mm as it's pretty much the same size as a credit card, so fits in a wallet better. We are finding more and more that people are using 88.9 x 50.8 instead. Not on purpose, but that a the default that some programs use and they dont bother to change it. Also if you are going to have a background printed or anything that goes right to the edge, it's better to set up a 3mm bleed on each side.

I had my first rehearsal with the Hulla band for two months last night, and it was the first time I'd played 'live' for about 6 weeks. We were down four members of the band (we're usually 13 so there was more than enough for a coherent sound). Everyone was fresh after the break and keen to play and I think that is what made the session a really great couple of hours. We just played through a number of the more up tempo songs on the provisional set list for a 40th birthday gig on 20 Sept. There was quite a bit of improvising (which is rare in this band) and we finished early (which is also rare). Highlights: We played a nice version of 'Take Me To The River', a bit more laid back than normal and which spontaneously became quite slow and funky in the middle, with some great and appropriate guitar noodling from the BL (who doesn't normally noodle). We went into that section and came out of it with no real cues and at the end we all agreed we should that kind of improvisation more often. We did a version of 'House of the Rising Sun' and instead of our trombonist taking the lead breaks as she wasn't, there yours truly took over and played some improvised bass riffs and - whisper it so they won't hear on BC - an actual bass solo for which I got several compliments when we finished. Lowlights: It was the first time I'd used the radio transmitter for the bass for 2 months and something had gone wrong with them as the sound I was getting for the soundcheck was more akin to an old ring modulator being played through a tinny transistor radio speaker. Not sure what happened there but I swapped to analogue technology, in the form of the spare lead I always take with me, and the problem was solved. I decided to take my Hohner 'The Jack', purchased from these hallowed halls, as it hadn't had an airing for a while and it sounded and played really well.

Those are the original pickups. As I said in my last post, Peavey made two versions of the TL-5. Version 1 was built from 1986 to 1990, had small passive pickups, a different preamp and a Schaller 3D bridge. The bass you own is a Version 2, built from 1991 to 1996.

It has a lot to do with American pride and the reality is based on Fender making more 'elite' spec models in the USA, rather than better made ones.

I agree the differences were huge before, and much less so now. I don't want to throw any shade at Mex or even Squier, it's all mostly good stuff these days. My personal experience is that the differences are minimal but they do come into play when it comes to fine tuning and setups. That is just personal experience though, and it also depends on what music you play and how you play.

I still have my 1986 MIJ Fender Precision that my Mum and Dad bought me for Christmas, in 1986. My first real bass. I don’t use it anymore but I can never get rid of it. It’s the only bass I have ever kept and whenever I open the case, all the happy memories come flooding back. It’ll go to the grave with me. Such a precious and irreplaceable thing 🥰

I saw bits of it, so didn't see the start or any context of what it was fully about. I agree that Beverly Knight was her usual amazing. For me. it lost a little in some of the arrangements and song choices, as though some were trying too hard to embellish or change the feel of the original songs. I also agree some of the vocalists seemed a little off. I recently saw a video on Youtube of a house band including Will Lee on bass playing a Curtis Mayfield tribute with the WDR orchestra and Ledisi/Bilal singing. Much more well done and true to the feel of the originals IMHO

Outside under a gazebo & windy. Down one guitarist - not a problem as we have managed as guitar bass & drums plenty of times before, and evolved out of a band yonks ago that was just that - but guitar was having problems with his TwoNotes pedal switching that gave him a load of alien abduction moments in the first couple of numbers, but we soldiered through and all in all a good afternoon. No IEM's for me but you work with what you have for those gigs. Back to full strength and the usual PA next week. Reasonale crowd up dancing and singing by the end which is always nice. Vocalist again said to me "Your rig was sounding awesome tonight" ... and I have to agree. Had to push it a bit more as no PA support, but a nice twangy growl.

Which, the white or amber? I've a sunburst sonic P with laural or whatever the faux rosewood is, instead of standard maple, with gold anodised vintera pickguard. Looks great, sounds really good with flats. Really like the narrow neck, nice and fast.

Does anyone know if this pedal is available anywhere or is it just a case of joining the waiting the list 😪 Everywhere I looked was out of stock.

Came here to say this I've seen one of the two made in the flesh, at a Fender Custom Shop clinic in the Netherlands. Master builder John English was there to take the audience through their relicing process, which was really informative and interesting, and they had some cool Custom Shop instruments on display. One of those was the Tye Zamora bass.
