  1. Past hour
  2. I'm notn100% but I think so. I'm not sure that do another pj set.
  3. Itโ€™s still the great device it always has been.
  4. In terms of generative AI, it's basically an inevitability in my industry (music adjacent) at this point, so I'm resigned to it. We've been using trained neural nets in specific applications for years now anyway (i.e. noise reduction) and they tend to perform very well - but the lines are starting to blur as to where generative AI fits into that. Ethically, I view gen AI in its present and growing form as a pure expression of rentier capitalism. So whether it belongs in music is down to your attitudes as to whom value in creative work should accrue (I feel this will inevitably slide into politics, sorry mods, so that's all I'll say). I think we're very quickly moving towards a world where AI generated = low value and low effort advertising, memes, misinformation, and propaganda. So in my more optimistic moments I believe there will always be a place for us meatbags.
  5. Generative AI can get in the bin as far as I'm concerned. It makes an absolute mockery of the years I've spent learning an instrument. It's a disgustingly insulting short cut. Get gud or eff off. *mic drop*
  6. My guess is that very few players are going to gig with these combos. Looks to me like they're intended for music rooms, studios and home players.
  7. That is very true, I suppose I did put in about 4 years of Bass practise before ever playing with a band though, but yeah - Piano seems to require a different sort of practise with formally learned technical skills (like I'd mentioned earlier in the thread: the amount of gigging Bass players that did formal lessons/grades vs Pino players I expect would be markedly different). Playing one song so many times to perfect it to pass the grades and then move on is a bit tedious, but I guess it shows the challenge is at about the right level if it is achievable but difficult. I just recieved a ยฃ400 bill for lessons: ยฃ40 per hour (30 mins me, 30 mins my daughter), once a week, booked in blocks of 10. ...it is what I expected and seems the going rate, but that amount in one invoice still took me back a bit! I might reduce it to every 2 weeks for the next group of 10.
  8. Good points on portability - I still really like it as a venue amp - something installed in a church/pit situation. The I/O works great there IMO, and it looks kinda funky. Appreciate that I seem to be alone on this though, maybe I have rose-tinted Aguilar goggles! Maybe it's a deeply subconscious call to tackle the pile of washing that's been building up for a couple of weeks now.
  9. If the 'neck thru' bit was slightly more orange, that'd be Gulf racing colours very cool
  10. My favourite bass is a Fender Japan that I bought new as a backup in 2011. Once it broke in it became my number 1.
  11. Frank was still active a year ago giving interviews and doing The Searchers' last show. He's done an interview with a smaller YT channel here which may be a point of contact:
  12. It's like what has already been said, it's been designed for these conversations, to look different. Almost every element of it is not practical compared to any other flat top design they could have done. Just bizarre.
  13. I have one of these & it is a brilliant practice amp.
  14. As new condition. This was for a planned project that never happened. I unpacked it, had a quick trial and then put it back in the box. ยฃ70 collected. If you want it posted, cost will be around a fiver.

  15. Should AI have any place in music? Musicians are quite rightly against AI being used to create music but some of the same people seem fine with using it for artwork or videos so happy with replacing other artists who support the music industry. Considering that its replacing real artists plus uses enormous amounts of energy plus it keeps any information you put in (nothing is ever free), is it right in your opinion to use AI as part of your art or any art?
  16. I like the Boss WL20. It has a little โ€˜power buttonโ€™ so you can pull it in and out without the usual โ€˜Ccrrrgggโ€™ if you arnt muted. Great for Open Mics where people are sharing. Most are weirded out when I just hand them a dongle ๐Ÿ˜‚!. Battery lasts forever. The only issue is itโ€™s only available on 2.4ghz. Iโ€™ve stopped using mine in a lot of pubs as I was getting interference. I now use a Blackstar Airwire which is great too - but I like the way the Boss works better!
  17. Hi, I've been using a Lekato WS100 system (quite infrequently) for a couple of years. I bought it for fun really (less than ยฃ40) and didn't expect much. That was fortunate, as I didn't get much. Whilst the Lekato has had little use, reliability is a problem and the folding jack on the transmitter is starting to fail (a poor connection I'd assume). That said, I do enjoy the freedom and convenience of a bug type system - more convenient for me than the belt-pack or pocket type units. One of the plus points of the Lekato is that the bug is light, though other than this it doesn't really feel or behave like much more than a toy. Can anybody recommend a reliable, robust, possibly higher-end bug system? Thanks!

  19. Yeah it would be an awesome practice amp, as furniture it would blend into my office decor way better than the qsc wedge does. Unfortunately it is shaped, sized and featured like a home amp but priced like a stage amp.
  20. Today
  21. Thanks for the kind words! I'm not with it now, but pretty sure its 1 piece body. Its not light weight, but, is manageable (ive gigged it a fair few times with no issues)... and the tone makes up for the weight ๐Ÿ™‚ Had an offer which i'm considering...
  22. Absolutely lovely - classically cool. Do you know the weight? I had an original '75J with the same finish and aesthetic. Looked, sounded and played stunning but I could hardly lift it. Also, is this a two-piece centre-jointed body (I can't quite tell from the images)?
  23. a few years back we paid an editor in the ukraine to make a video for us. No doubt it was all put together from stock animation libraries- some of it is possibly AI but they did a good job.
  24. Thanks for pointing that out Pete. From what L-2500 Tribute owners past and present have posted on line, string spacing for the 5's appears to be 17-17.5mm (except for post 2021 750 series which were widened to 19mm) I might have to have a re-think and just go with a BTB (with 19 spacing - some versions are narrower) or the Lakland 55
