Hey, finally took the plunge and pulled the trigger on a replacement pick up for my cheap Vintage stingray. Bought it as a project to do up over time. Firstly I gothed it right up by swapping all hardware to black previously. Im a serial faffer/breaker of most things i put my hand to but love to give it a go. Im never aiming for super high quality finish just to learn something along the way. Bought an Aguilar AG4M pick up to replace the stock one. While im at it I have replaced the pots and just mirrored what the AG4M diagram says to use. Cleaned and put sheilding tape in the cavity (not sure if it actually helps or not but looks better anyways. Didnt want to try anything too wild for my first attempt at something like this. Big thank you to the advice of a few members that i got on another thread i asked about soldering. All in all enjoyed this first part of the project and to my surprise everything actually works 😂 . Blanked off the other hole with something I found in work. It fits so it's ment to be. Not sure what to do next 🤔. Like the idea of brass nut but think that might be out of my depth. Few pics of progress so far. Needs a good clean up now its done for now

Laney R500H 500w Bass Amp I'll put some current pics up tomorrow but here's the thread from when I bought it off here. I've only used it live a couple of times. Moving it on cos I've just bought an EBS 350 off here and I don't need 3 amps. No trades ta I have the original box and courier will be around £10. There was one on eBay from Japan for £400+ so obviously it's rare, desirable and probably lawsuit era 😂 New pics added Original post

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! Superb review! G.A.S. is still lingering for one but I'm still finding it hard to let go of my Genz-Benz heads and last time I checked, none available in NZ. Have you owned or tried any of the other Mesa heads to compare with the 800D? Keep us updated Shug! Appreciate it! 👌🏽

I saw them live at Arctangent Festival last year. Wasn't really all that bothered about seeing them but went along just to finish off the day. They were amazing, I really enjoyed them a lot more than expected.

I've had mine since October. It's a KILLER! Loads of punch and headroom and heft, if I may say it, simple and brilliantly effective EQ. The hpf is something I'd never really thought of before, but it's a really useful shaping tool which fattens up the bottom end beautifully if counter- intuitively. Who knew that removing bass improved the low end? Everyone bar me, it would seem. I'm not a technical fella so this amp is perfect for me. Just switch it on and it sounds great. Fiddle around and it just sounds greaterer. Build quality looks to be as good as it gets, though time will tell, I guess. As for extras, I'm particularly taken with the USB out which I use to power my tuner. It sounds good through every cab I've put it through. I did some European shows back end of last year with a venue supplied cab at each. No issues with any of 'em, not even the beaten 90's Laney 410 at one nor the ancient Marshall 115 I ended up with at another. I'm the UK I use it with either a Barefaced 210 or 610 and it cooks, fellas, lemme tell ya. I'm doing a UK club tour with Atomic Rooster starting 19th of this month (Coming to town near you!)and I'm planning on using both cabs together. We'll see how that pans out. I'll finalise that set-up during rehearsals next week. I'll keep you informed... Shug

Stumbled across this yesterday and loved it. I love my sensible down-to-earth songwriting as much as the next man, but there's definitely a place for music that is also surreal performance art. -

I owned an RBX550 and RBX800 over the years, they were well made, great build quality and fun to play.

@LukeFRC I can't believe i didn't think to do the Bassrig without the cab sim on actually.. that would've been interesting! I definitely prefer it in the mix to solo'd, and it is making me rethink passing it on. RE: Alix... yes, i usually use it for my Upright and realised I'd never plugged the Electric in. Not sure why I'm surprised, but i liked the results! The mystery box is UK-built by one individual, and costs sub £45. Always surprises me in shootouts with the big boys, and I have 4 of them!

Bought these recently here and they’re great but I decided to go with my preferred choice on a bass I’ve modded for a particular situation. In my trial with them I found them to be quiet and even with low output as described (alnico standard) but much better than stock pickups. In other words...pro improvement. My East UK active preamp has gain adjustment so that didn’t pose a problem. I thought they were vintage voiced (60’s) but even slap style sounded pleasant. I preferred the more hi-fi sound of the EMG for the stuff I’m doing (plus I have more vintage styled instruments available). I also did the series/parallel switching with them and that was great (versatile option) but you can choose either as both ways sounded great. The original post: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/518269-celinder-ss-humbucker-alnico-jazz-pickups-sold/#comment-5561431 I have epoxied the tabs so they’re much better and poses no problems to mount the pickups. I’m asking what I paid for them and this includes UK shipping.
