  1. Past hour
  2. I think that's absolutely the case, I sadly have neither
  3. Oooh just up the road…..must resist!!
  4. Where is it trying to get to? Then maybe whoever is nearest can step in. I’m very happy to help but I’m quite a way from where I think it needs to be!
  5. JS Bach for Bass by Joaquin des Pres is a good one if you want to do more than just running up and down arpeggios, as is Jonas Hellborg’s ‘Chord Bassics’ which is literally pages of chord diagrams - but equally useful to a bassist who wants to improve their playing and theory.
  6. That looks well difficult, I’d say that’s harder than some of the jamerson ones I’m trying my hand at , good luck
  7. Chucking new stuff in a skip should be a criminal offence. Felt bad skipping a 20yr old tumble dryer today that I’ve already fixed twice in the past.
  8. I'm in the States, and I remember making a 'dumpster gold' comment once here on BC and people jumped on me that you'd get arrested. The cops here aren't going to do anything about junk thrown out (only if there's a dead body in the trash can), they have way more important fish to fry.
  9. Disco Ulysses.
  10. Thanks @bass_dinger, Was just asking as I'm trying to coordinate delivery of a Mesa Boogie Walkabout Combo to Chris, aka @Beedsterbut he's unable to attend on Sunday. So he and I were just wondering whether anyone more local to him than me (I live in Bedfordshire) might be able to help? A sort of Basschat 'relay service' as it were... 😁 @Wombat has kindly offered to help already, but in case that might not pan out as hoped, then it'd be great for Chris to have other options...?
  11. Got mine today. Cant say if it's worth the £1400 price at the moment as ill use it as a controller mostly, but its a great update to the old version. Keybed is a bit better (never had an issue with the ol version), more knobs and sliders make a world of difference. Happy so far. Will put the old one up for sale in a few weeks I guess.
  12. I've got a Double Trolley by Marc Grue. I got it broken and have mended it to be in usuable condition. I found this unusable, where the wheels were bent, and the wheel frame did no fit the stool, and the latch under the seat snapped and a few other problems. I've put a new latch on and rebent the frame, cleaned it up and tighten some loose parts so that it is in good working condition. I've have tried and tested a couple of times going to and from, and at rehearsals. This is a trolley which helps move your bass around and conveniently doubles up as a stool. Tyres hold pressure, and will require a bungee to fasten to your bass. Find out more about it here: https://doubletrolley.com/index.php Due to the size of the item, I would prefer collection in person. I can provide more pictures on request. Open to offers. Thank you

  13. Recently acquired and cleaned and sorted by myself. Its a phenomenonal amp. So much power, but also so much tone shaping with the 3 presets, eq band eq, and eq tilt dial. Dual compressor which is very good. Mixable valve and solid state preamp. Fx in and out, with adjustable volume dial. Xlr out. Really is top notch, everything works perfectly. Also comes with original receipt and manual. Only selling as my van has been written of and my car is a 2 seater so I can't transport it, so I need to swap it or buy something I can fit in the car. Also comes with dolly trolley. Definitely a classic and collectors item. This is in great condition. If it doesn't sell, I'll just take the head out, rack it, and get 2 smaller cabs. Need the funds to buy a smaller modular rig, so not really up for swaps unless it's something like a squier 40th bass, sire bass etc. Collection Leyland Lancashire

  15. Hi there I'm searching for a good arpeggio book, does anyone have any recommendations ? I fank U

  17. Andy, great minds think alike..or fools seldom differ..😆 What do you think of the following... I've been staring owlishly at the bass for some time and I have come up with a variant of your plan which I think might be even less visible. Cut the neck at the pickup rout. It would need to follow the rout, rather than be a straight cut but it would be invisible nce the pickup is back on. I could then shim the neck in front of the pickup which would change the action height to something a bit more usable (I hope). This would probably need a couple of extra screws as you suggest...
  18. I *have* tried the zs-10s on a gig and can report that they are great. I replaced the rubber tips with foam ones and they performed admirably. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
  19. It's not an easy choice. If I add skills/ experience and tools to the equation then there are significant pro's and con's for both approaches. 1. The problem with lowering the bridge is that it really has got to be lowered a LOT. And you have to be confident with a router or chisels to go as deep as it will need to go. 2. The problem with shimming is that, depending where the shim is, the resulting wedge of neck that will now stand proud is over quite a long length. And ideally you have to be confident in planing/sanding to get that right. Not for the faint-hearted. There is, also, a third option - and it would probably, and reasonably, scare the word-not-allowed out of you. But, now I've had a good look at the unconventional design and construction of the bass, I think it would be the one I would personally do. So, for what it's worth: 3. I would cut the neck through at the end of the fretboard. I would take the back plate off and then add two extra screwholes in the neck pocket about 2 cm from where that cut point is, clamp the neck back in its original place and drill into the neck for two extra fixing screws. These holes would be countersunk so these two new neck screws would sit flush with the body wood. I would then add a shim underneath that 2cm neck overhang and add the two extra neck screws (with the neck now able to move more like a conventional bolt on neck and the shim needed would be quite thin). The two new screws, flush with the body wood would then be hidden under the refitted back plate. - bridge unaffected - pickup unaffected - nothing to see at the back - two teeny cut marks at the fret end - great action Answers on a post card....
  20. I bought a pair of the KZ ZS10 in-ears a couple of years ago from Ali-Express that were mentioned in the in-Ears thread as a good starter to try when I thought I had a in-ears gig coming up. That fell through, but I use them a lot for noodling in the house, connected to my Sonicake Pocket Master (with a mini-jack to 1/4" adaptor). I did buy a second set as I didn't think they would last, but they have, so the 2nd pair are still in the box. I don't normally like the rubber bung type earbuds but they do seem to work well for that. I have not tried them on a sweaty gig though.
  21. I bought this very well upholstered Gator gig bag (current retail £135) for my Guild Starfire bass, but although it fits, its a bit tighter lengthwise than seems sensible, so this has barely been used. It is fairly obviously sized for a Gibson 335 guitar, but will also fit a flying V or a short-scale bass that's a fraction smaller than a Starfire Loads of padding, loads of pockets and a waterproof cover (in pocket 6 on the back, I think - depends how you count the pockets) The padding at the base of the bag can be removed (its on velcro) to give a couple of cm extra space - the quoted overall internal length is without this extra padding fitted Pickup preferred, but I will post it, although I haven't worked out what that would cost, let me know if you're interested and I'll get a price. Internal size: Overall Length: 46.1" (117.09 cm) Body Length: 25.0" (63.5 cm) Body Height: 3.5" (8.89 cm) Lower Bout Width: 17.3" (43.94 cm) Middle Bout Width: 15.4" (39.12 cm) Upper Bout Width: 13.0" (33.02 cm) Exterior Dimensions: Length: 47.8" (121.41 cm) Width: 18.3" (46.48 cm) Height: 6.9" (17.53 cm)

  24. LA Audio high quality active DI box, very solid construction; comes with an instruction leaflet - which is worth reading since the box is deceptively versatile! This works off an 18v rail so can cope with high or low level signals. Power via phantom from your mixer or 2 x 9v batteries Usefully it has a +20db switch to increase the level of low output devices and with 1M ohm input impedance is compatible with piezo pickups The Input will work with Instrument or Speaker levels ('Pad' switch is for speaker level), isolated XLR output for your mixer and a 'link' output to take the signal on to an amp or cab A separate unbalanced output is available as well as the balanced XLR
  25. Vox VT30 Valvetronix modelling gitwrist combo for leccy guitars. Wonderful condition, no faults. Some unknown has reviewed this against other small combos https://www.gad.net/Blog/2010/07/20/vox-vt30-valvetronix-amp-review/ And full spec at Gear for music to save me the hassle. https://www.gear4music.com/G4M/Vox-VT30-30W-Combo-Amplifier/6SOP Needs collecting in person.
  26. This box has a set of three Speakon connectors wired in parallel (using pins 1 & 2) so can be used as an extender for speaker cables, or to allow two cabs to be driven from the same amp One connector at one end and two at the other end The box is made from very solid extruded aluminium
  27. A useful single channel line level isolating transformer for removing hum loops from PA, Mixer etc in a very solid metal case Input on either XLR or 6.3mm Jack - balanced or unbalanced Balanced output on XLR or 6.3mm Jack Switches for ground lift and phase reverse. The third switch provides either unity 1:1 or a 2:1 ratio tap for long cable runs There is a small circuit diagram on the top to remind you what all the connectors and switches do! Quoted frequency range is 20Hz to 25kHz at line level Dimensions 120 x 44 x 90 mm
