  2. I've owned one of these and I can't abide them, because the front pocket can't take A4 paper without folding it. Got rid when I sold a bass.
  3. Hi guys, I'm sure this pedal needs no explanation. I've had this pedal since new, circa 2010 I think? It's been gigged with a fair bit but it's been in its box for the past 18 months or so.   5. The drummer from one of my old bands from the 90's contacted me to ask if I could play a gig with them as sadly their bassist had died suddenly. Went along for a practice last night and was blown away how good they were. All sixtys covers but not many that i'd ever played before or was even slightly aware of. I'd been practicing at how for the last week or so but still couldn't nail some of them. A Doors number and a Moody Blues one left me just sitting out while I recorded it to play to at home. Also wanted me to do Penny Lane but in a different key to original so that's on my to do list. A number by The Creations sounded great and Summer in the city went well but my fave of the night was Riders on the storm... nailed it imho. Lots to learn for next week but up for the challenge.
  6. I do enjoy writing basslines for original songs. Really interesting. Not done much collaborating though, usually either write the whole thing or put a bassline to someone else’s…. If they want!

  13. I kind of understand where you’re coming from, my back having got significantly worse over the last couple of years all I take to gigs is bass and Behringer BDI21. If there’s an amp there great I’ll use it, if not BDI21 to FOH with a monitor mix, this works fine and the band all seem fine with it too. As well as the not having to carry the gear about another important aspect for me is not having to set it up/break it down. I still prefer the sound of an amp behind me - at the same volume as the kit I should add, no louder - but my overall preference is for my back not hurting, hence said Behringer. I doubt I’ll go IEM due to the bands I’m with being unlikely to, and I think once I stop gigging with these I’ll be stopping gigging completely. I doubt I’ll ever stop looking at amps/cabs though, I just won’t be buying any anymore.
  14. Very handsome OLP MM5 five-string natural-finish passive Stingray-alike (some dispute online as to whether these were licensed by Ernie Ball Music Man or simply that the headstock shape was). It’s in pretty good nick (see pix for some very minor dings and wear, especially top of headstock) and definitely does the Ray thing, from clank to warm P-bassish. These were generally considereed at least as good as - if not better than - the first Sterling S.U.B. entry-level Stingrays that were around five years ago. I bought it a couple of years ago to experiment with fivers and, though I had none of the common issues with the transition from four to five strings, I’ve really had no need for the B, so it seems to be a bit wasted on my wall. I’ve got a Sterling Joe Dart Signature one-knob to scratch my passive Stingray itch anyway (and I’m really loving it!). If I feel the need to drop from low E, I’ll possibly add a Drop D tuner. String spacing at the bridge is a rather tight, but still very playable, 17mm. Nut width is 44mm. The neck finish is shiny. I suppose it’s gloss, but not at all sticky. Weight is a comfortable, but not lightweight, 4.5 Kg (9lb 14oz), there’s no neck dive and it’s fine on strap or lap. Currently wearing Rotosound 77 Jazz Bass flats (the bass – not me!), which were about £50 new. I’ll hang on to them and replace the original Ernie Ball Slinkys (I think that’s what they are, anyway). Alternatively, I’ll leave the flats on for another £30 and include the rounds in the sale. Similarly, it’s currently sporting Schaller S-lock strap buttons. I’ll restore the original buttons or, if you wish, leave the Schallers on (with associated strap mountings) for another £15 and enclose the originals. So: Bass with original strings and strap buttons: £225 Bass plus flats: £255 Bass plus Schaller S-locks: £240 Bass plus flats and Schaller S-locks: £270 Clear (as mud)!
  15. I am selling my Barefaced Super Compact bass cabinet. Price is £500. I bought the cab on this forum from @FinnDave in March 2024. It is a 1x12 cabinet, with a silver cloth grill. The cab is rated at 600w / 8 ohm. Cover is included. These are incredible cabs, and super-light. I am only selling because I have subsequently bought more Barefaced cabs! Collection preferred. Not looking for trades. Thanks

  18. I use a Markbass 1x15" combo (not the Jeff Berlin one) and a 1x15" extension cabinet. I like it. Its a nice compromise between musicality and carryability IMHO. Always had a soft spot for 15's.....
