  1. Past hour
  2. That was yesterday, right?
  3. GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. The way the grain has played out on that tummy cut is very pleasing.
  5. That's a fantastic colour, enjoy the bass
  6. This would make a very nice Xmas present 🙂
  7. Anybody that knows Mike knows that he has exquisite taste... This must be a nice bass...
  8. I was about to comment on the massive pay-off to Hofner arising from the random purchase of a violin bass by the then unknown Macca. On reflection though it probably wasn't that random. IIRC, Stuart Sutcliffe played a Hofner Senator bass, which Macca may well have enjoyed noodling on during idle moments between shifts in Hamburg while Sutcliffe was otherwise engaged with girlfriend Astrid. Although the Senator had a much bigger body, it probably had the same neck so the violin bass would have presented Macca with that nice playable neck on a much less unwieldy body.
  9. I bought a battery powered strip of LEDs from Primark this afternoon. This was only two quid so it's not the end of the world if I destroy it during my tinkering, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any experience in tinkering with similar strips. Basically what I want to do is fix them to the bottom of a pedalboard, ideally powering them from the pedalboard power supply. The lights work with 3 × AA batteries, so nominally 4.5V. Two questions I'd like answered if anyone has experience are: 1. Is a 9v PSU likely to work, or kill the unit? 2. If I can't work out the polarity of the two wires and identify this using a trial & error methodology would getting it wrong first time be likely to kill the unit?
  10. Over and Over - Space Opera
  11. Looks like it's 14mm across flats - were you making a spanner for the tuners?
  12. Absolutely. I'll pull it from the same place she pulled her claim.
  13. A mime to Jeff Lynne's bassline! (who did the Wilburys bass work on both albums)
  14. That's a very nice example of a rare bass, and I would say a very good price. Fwiw there are MIJ Washburn & Daion/Yamaki - specific FB groups where there might be significant interest in something like this. GLWTS!
  15. Do you have any proof of that? Please share.
  16. Trace Elliott's swiss army knife pedal, including tuner, 2 band compressor, drive, and EQ (with classic Trace preshape option). Surplus to requirements as I have just bought a Bassrig and am going the separate pedals route. Vgc. £190 plus post if needed. Collection in a public space by Barnes Rail Station, London SW13
  17. Glad to hear it. My second-hand Space 5 had a strange pickup issue - when I picked it up, I only tested it with the blend knob at each end of its travel rather than in the middle. When I got it home, I found the B, E, and A strings were out of phase but the D and G strings weren't. Replaced the MK1s with MK5CBCs and all was well. So maybe there's also a bit of a QC problem with pickups.
  18. Thanks, much appreciated. The Hofner and Wilburys are a pretty good match vibe-wise, although the only video I can remember showing TP playing bass with The TWs featured a Danelectro Longhorn.
  19. Thank you. Yes, i feel it's a good price for an instrument of this pedigree and versatility
  20. Thanks Bill lots of useful stuff there. As far as I can tell the transducer in the horn is pretty well aligned with the main driver, so I'll experiment with changing its polarity to see what happens.
  21. I've had the same problem with various sets of roundwounds over the years. It can, in certain instances, be to do with how the string has been cut and fitted. You might say "But I've had it happen with two identical E strings!", but that might be because they've both been fitted the same incorrect way. I'm not saying that's what happened in this case, but it's always a possibility when evaluating any case of Dead E String Syndrome.
  22. Also the biggest lie that she hasn't heard that before.
  23. Stolen from the Herald?
  24. I doubt it. Mark King kept Status with an order list for years. As he did for Jaydee. Need a cash injection? Build Mark a new model... out comes the doctors and lawyers and their chequebooks.
