Had to google, but Vol, Tone and Mudbucker? Are you thinking of some sort of Single/Series/Parallel switching of the coils - 4 wires? Switch could replace the Tone control - or Push Push Tone Pot for Series/Parallel I Mudbuckered my T-Bird wired A500k Vol to Pure Tone Jack Socket Any coil switching would end up on Std Parallel, and wasn't reckoning on there being much treble needing rolling off from the mudbucker.

Is this still a 'thing'..? S'been a very long time since I 'needed' a mic for each piece; a bass drum, snare and a pair of overheads was easily enough for even enormous stages. All moot now, with e-drums, where a simple stereo feed does the job, whatever the venue. If he really is married to acoustic drums, it's cheaper and easier to fit a set of triggers and go digital, instead of all those mics, stands, cables, kerfuffle etc... Just sayin'.

Nice weekend all in all - Friday was a local charity gig. Nice little five piece with an old friend and his son and daughter involved too. Sadly, a total 'Guitard's valve amp setup was far too loud, so we just did the usual backing right off until he realised he couldn't hear us due to his own row! Nice evening all in all, although was a little broken after three hours' playing! Saturday was a Duo job in a large club in Stoke-on-Trent. Club land can often be depressing and I've not worked the clubs for a long time, but this was a nice and welcoming one. As a complete contrast to Friday, it was a joy to play quietly and we had folks up and dancing all night, right from the start of the evening. We also used no monitors this time and had the system behind us. (Sometimes tricky for feedback issues), but it sounded really good. I hate monitors. These two jobs were also a good opportunity to road test my recently acquired GB Spitfire, which I have to say has punch and tone in spades. Dig in a little harder and it's metallic-like punch is like a hammer hitting an anvil! Noice 😎

As the owner of an electro-acoustic Gillet (the black nylon-coated strings are standard OE) and ex-owner of a few Maruszczyks I agree that these strings and Adrian's basses are definitely a mis-match. -

Absolute stunner this, my Alpher Mako Elite purchased earlier this year from BassBros. I’ve been so impressed by the overall comfort, playability and sound of this bass I purchased another Alpher Mako a couple of weeks ago which works a little better for me electronics-wise. I’m also contemplating a custom build now 😬, which would require some funds, hence this sale. Specs: #253 Highly figured claro walnut top Sassafras body Master grade roasted, flamed maple neck Striped Ebony fretboard Stainless steel frets Hipshot hardware + d-tuner Nordstrand big splits and preamp weight = 4kg Condition is excellent, a few very minor blemishes / light dings. No hard case but can ship very securely in a soft case, appropriate guitar box and packaging. Price includes UK shipping. Trial / Collection welcome in Cardiff. Pics are those from BassBros + a couple of new ones. Please see my feedback here.

That sounds like my youngest brother. He’s mad about cars and loves all that boy racer crap. He thinks he’s a brilliant driver, but he just shouldn’t be allowed near a motorised vehicle… For his 16th birthday my parents bought him a scooter, a proper oldschool chicken chaser type thing, not one of those little electric things you get now. He promptly wrote it off by crashing it into the back of a parked car. Later, once he learned to drive and got himself a car, he managed to crash it into a bridge. But my favourite was the time he drove through a bus station (that you’re not allowed to drive through), and managed to park it IN a kebab shop, having jumped up a curb and gone straight through the front window of the shop. He’s a professional driver now…

Nothing that doesn't pale into insignificance compared to amp settings.

My rock covers band have been offered a regular gig slot. We get one gig per month throughout 2026, but we’ve been asked to vary the set on a three month rotation. So, January will be mod/ska/reggae, Feb will be pop and March will be rock and so on. We’ve got the pop and rock think covered as we have 80+ songs in the bag anyway, a few of which also fall into mod/ska/reggae. I’ve knocked up a playlist for January comprising songs we already do along with a selection that some of the band have played before along with a few new ones. I’ve tried to avoid anything with large brass arrangements/sounds as although we have a sax/EWI for these gigs, we don’t have trumpet/trombone. The rest of the set up is one guitar/vox, one keys, drums and me. Question: What absolute bangers have I missed that are doable in this band format? Thank you in advance. Here’s my list: (* are already in our repertoire) [I’m sure there will be a few from this list that won’t make the cut for various reasons, so would be good to have some other ideas] Three Little Birds - Bob Marley * All or Nothing - Small Faces * That’s Entertainment - The Jam * Geno - Dexy’s * Night Boat to Cairo - Madness * My Girl - Madness * Mirror in the Bathroom - The Beat * Food for Thought - UB40 * On My Radio - The Selector Special Brew - Bad Manners Baggy Trousers - Madness A Message to You Rudy - The Specials Monkey Man - The Specials Nite Klub - The Specials The Prince - Madness Sally Brown - Bad Manners Tom Hark - The Piranhas Town Called Malice - The Jam The Eton Rifles - The Jam Be Young Be Foolish - Madassa Soul Band Gangsters - The Specials Good Thing Going - Aswad Guns of Navarone - The Specials It Must Be Love - Madness Lip Up Fatty - Bad Manners One Step Beyond - Madness You’re Wondering Now - The Specials The Tears of a Clown - The Beat Too Much Too Young - The Specials * Wolly Bully - Bad Manners 54-46 Was My Number - Toots and The Maytals 10/10 - Paulo Nutini Poison Ivy - The Lambrettas Time For Action - Secret Affair

I had the C4 and that was great. Although I've heard nothing but good things about the newer MXR Bass synth. pricey though.

My favourite band for many years now, they're just incredible live - far better than on their records. On old gig now but flawless http://youtu.be/OF88ihsOOSk No, I still don't know how to embed a YouTube video, sorry!

“In Rainbows” by Radiohead I was fond of a woman. It was the night of a group art show that I was in. I missed many phone calls that night—we were making out in the car; In Rainbows had just released and it was playing. Our relationship never amounted to anything and I likely missed a few sales maybe missed a career but that moment is in stone along with this album - Today
