But if it includes 40s RnB and jazz it's double weird. Ska and blue beat evolved from RnB and mento being squashed together.

Do you have scope to improve fitness? I know I do - last night I did some jumping and realised I was getting breathless - I know I need more exercise, so it's time to strap the knee up and get back on the bike...

I'll need to re-read the book, but I think it took the soundsystems 'Bass Culture' as the starting point - and they didn't tend to play Calypso and Mento as they were more of a live band sort of thing and Bass wasn't much of a factor for them.

It's a very small world! I was searching on the web for information about TE amps and found stubmandrel.co.uk That story about the castors is just a little bit scary. Right now this is the top of my list. Looking at other camera angles I think I can get used to the differing widths of head and cab. It's right at the top my budget (over actually), but as the lovely Mrs.C is happy to have my amp in the lounge, this un-gigged example seems a good punt. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226888373496 -

American Specials were a mix of parts manufactured partly in the USA and partly in Mexico. . They used to be called the Californian Series and then changed the name to American Special, then to The Highway One series. Fender do this from time to time. They were sold for a price somewhere between the cost of a MIM and USA bass. I have a friend who owns a Californian Series Strat and it plays and sounds great.

I'm coming up for 52, and I sometimes regret not having gone further with music in my life (whatever that actually means in a practical sense I don't know). But lately I've realised that actually not being obliged to do it for a living is what has kept it still being fun. It's my little thing, my way of regulating my emotions, meeting some cool people, having little musical adventures and friendships etc. It hasn't had all the joy beaten out of it. And that's what keeps me in the game. I still find it interesting, I'm still learning new things and being curious. If this had been my job, I doubt I'd still be getting much enjoyment out of it. I'd probably be some bitter old bloke. Instead, I have a lifelong companion as long as I've got an instrument to hand, and doing that with other like-minded people is a great feeling.

Every so often I wistfully recall the bass that got away. I also give myself a firm kick up the b*tt for not actually knowing exactly what it was! My fave ever bass, I found it secondhand at the Bass gallery in Camden. As a very rough guess about 12-15 years ago. It’s slightly weird though as I don’t actually remember if it was 4 or 5 string. I have had times over the years where I’ve flipped between using 4 or 5 strings and I honestly don’t recall where I was at this time in terms of preference. I guess that sounds a bit mad. Anyway, I’ve been thinking about it again recently, and I’d love to work out what it actually was. My initial looking around on the internet did not find exactly the same thing so I thought I’d try asking you lot – which may well come to nothing! So, what can I say about it. Well, it was a Spector bass, and at the time was going for I think £1,800 secondhand. I went and played it a couple of times and it felt sublime, but there was no way I could afford it. A painful experience! I’m pretty sure it was an NS bass, and looked extremely similar to the example below, same basic body look/inlays/fretboard – but there was one critical difference – The neck was a dark wood with a very ‘textured’ grainy feel to it. I particularly loved that feel. I’ve never seen another bass with a neck like it. No clue what wood it was! Any idea what specific bass that would have been? And if it was available as both 5 and 4 string or not?

I saw a video with a plunge saw and thought wow, that looked the business and then saw the price of it. I think if I was making a dozen or so cabs, I'd invest, but for me, not sure it's worth the effort. Now I know you have one, I'll send future ply cuts to you

I did see it in the video, but part of the problem as it was getting colder was me slowing down and thickening up. There wasn't a bowl big enough for me to stand in

YRAG87 started following Legit Fender American?

Hi all. First post in a while...if at all. bit of back story for context. I listed my fender MIM mustang for sale on eBay because I had a chance of buying back a fender MIM Jazz I sold back in 2014. It held a lot of sentimental value plus it played exceptionally. I sold it to buy a buggy for my first child. Silly when I look back but at the time essential. I wasn't playing at all back then really. fast forward anyways. The deal fell through. He decided he didn't want to sell after all. but as it happens a nice guy on eBay messaged and asked if I'd be interested in a trade. I love a trade!! he offered a 2010 Sunburst Fender MIA Jazz bass American special. I was after a jazz again anyway so I said straight swap or more. I'm a bit poor lately especially with Xmas around the corner. He said extra his way or he would be happy if I paid his train ticket from London to Southampton. Few messages. Few videos back and forth. We were both happy with the deal so he came down this weekend. We each looked over the respective instruments and were satisfied with the deal so we swapped and parted ways. now...I'm not expert but I've seen my fair share of basses. I've NEVER played an American made fender. I've seen them and never thought they commanded the money compared to a MIM. I'm certain it's genuine. But to me the tuners don't seem better than the mex I just gave away. Local guitar shop thinks I've got a good deal. Just wondering what you guys think. 1- is it legit? 2- is MIM to MIA a good trade? thanks guys

Sweden is ,however, a society which tolerates one of the highest levels of taxation in the world. Myself, I would be happy to live in such a country. Convincing the wider British public to submit to such a system would be pretty much an impossibility. The whole of the developed world is moving away from that kind of a social model. Public spending is something to be restricted and cut back, not expanded to include people who think they have a right and a need to express themselves. The Swedish system has its roots in progressive liberal ideas that flourished in the 1960's and 1970's. The reality is that in countries like Britain and the USA we are heading back to the 1920's where ordinary working people were kept in a state of anxious uncertainty as a way of keeping them more useful, more profitable and less troublesome to their employers. More work, less pay, less rights.

bobben started following 2011 Fender MIM Std Precision Neck - Maple £200 Posted to UK

Taken from a 2011 Mex Std Precision - I prefer rosewood.. In good condition - a couple of small dings to the headstock lower edge but you have to feel for them. 1-3-5 frets slightly grooved but plenty of miles left. Nut was filed for low B (135) but 105 still sits just fine - I never bothered refilling it when I swapped back. Heel dated June 2011. Fender serial lookup says... Fingerboard Maple Fingerboard Radius 9.5" (241 mm) Fret Size Medium Jumbo Neck Shape Modern "C" Number of Frets 20 Nut Material Synthetic Bone Nut Width 1.625" (41.3 mm) Position Inlays Black Dot

Maybe take away the loopholes that enable billionaires to hoard their wealth whilst paying ignorant flagsh@ggers to spread the idea that immigrants are to blame for all of the problems they themselves have caused, but don't want to help solve.
