How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Woodinblack replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
I guess they are in a different place - if you are on an open mic, who cares if you all start at the same time or end at the right time, but if you are there as the entertainment rather than the audience, and someone is paying you, it really does matter. Maybe some people don't realise that until they are there -
So the Stingray came back from the shop today, all buffed and polished and I'm loving the new look for it. The brown wash really makes the grain pop and rather than a completely flat polished look which is the standard for Rays in a natural finish, I have opted for a more tactile polished finish with no grain fill to allow the nitro to sink into the grain. It really looks good and feels a lot more natural than the standard polished finish. Not the best photo but I have started added copper foil to the cavities ready for the electronics to go back in and will add some pics when I can which shows the finish a bit clearer. I'm just waiting on a price for the black bridge from musicman and then it can all be put back together!

Some time back in the 1980s, I owned a Fender P. I replaced the pickup with Di Marzios because that was the thing to do back then, but TBH never noticed any great change in the sound. The original pickup went into a drawer and stayed there for around 40 years, quietly maturing. It's about time I did something with it, so it's off to the marketplace. The two components have date stamps from different years, so I suspect that before I got the P it had one replaced. They both have the same resistance and they seemed fine when they were in the bass. This is something that I'm perfectly happy to post at no extra cost.

I have a pair of the SE7s in my studio and they are a nicely balanced matched pair, very neutral and to my ears, similar to the Rode NT5s which I also have a matched pair of. I think i prefer the NT5s but these are quite a bit above your budget but the SE7s would be a good compromise if you can get them for £150 ish... Hope that helps...

Ian King bass rig roundup (Hercules Edition)

Hi everyone, Thanks for the kind words and great to hear from some old friends on here! Hope you're all keeping well. Glad you enjoyed the video, it took a while to film all the separate sections and glue them all together afterwards, but I'm hoping it proved useful and vaguely interesting! It's difficult sometimes to show what you're up to on a particular gig without coming across like you're just bragging about the equipment you use, so I was mindful to try to make it educational where possible. I'm playing Queen songs with the Royal Philharmonic at the Albert Hall tomorrow so I should take my little action cam along and see if I can take some footage there, and later in the year I have my usual NYE gig but this time it's going to be filmed in a TV studio so that might be a good one to do some 'behind the scenes' filming at too. I'm going to try to make my YouTube channel a mix of videos from a pro's perspective (Gigs, gear, etc) and also lessons and tutorials. My channel is iankingbass if you fancy taking a look. Anyway back to looking at Basschat Marketplace! Cheers, Ian -

Thanks @warwickhunt. I got given £37 in vouchers this morning as a thank you from a client so will have another look. I use the EXL170-BT set (45, 60, 80, 107) on the Eb-standard Spectors but am willing to shift gauge a bit for that kind of bargain. I ordered 2 sets of 12s just before I got my 12 @£22 a set each. They were pictured as a twin pack but arrived as two separate packs. All legit, the players points went on no issue. The packaging was a bit crushed and I think they’ve probably been around a while but the bags were intact.

jay-syncro started following Fender American Standard Precision - Olympic White - 8.5lbs

2015 Fender American Standard Precision Bass in the classic Olympic white/tort finish. In my opinion these play/sound/feel superior to the current USA professional basses. The custom shop pickups are really sweet. This one is in gigged condition with the odd nick on the body, and the paintwork has mellowed to a creamy tone (hence picture with random white thing for comparison). It weighs just 8.5lb and comes with a padded Fender gig bag. Collection from Margate or i can box it up if you'd like to arrange your own courier.

The DC bias must be coming in earlier on then and there's no DC blocking capacitor afterwards. As the active/passive switch takes the EQ part of the preamp completely out of the circuit, that would leave the buffer as the suspect section (the bottom connector with leads to the pickups and the balance pot).

From TDog: £380 to strip and refinish in nitro. Was contemplating between these 2. Sean Hurley inspired or me inspired.

Suggestions for passive DI box

Thanks for that - I had opted for one of these at lunchtime: https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Palmer-Pan-01-Passive-DI-Box/2PT7?_gl=1*hj71pq*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTE2NjExNjMyMS4xNzU4NjM2OTM0*_ga_0WF1R5QW3K*czE3NTg2MzY5MzQkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTg2MzY5ODckajckbDAkaDE3MjY3Mzg1NjE. -
Why am I struggling to make bass sound good through PA?
mrtcat replied to mrtcat's topic in PA set up and use
Big thanks to everyone who offered advice. I've had time to follow the tips properly and it has completely transformed the foh bass sound. As a side note, the Darkglass Anagram has blown me away with its features. Fully parametric 6 band eq, proper high pass filters that allow you to choose the slope type and can be added wherever you need them and just a load of great core sounds. -
Very nice @Eric_Wombat!!! Its very pretty I have to admit. Do you like it with your pedals? How does the gain stage sound?
