Wombat started following OK... so age is now taking effect...
-
You can get varifocal contact lenses now too…
-
Never looked at policy either. If it’s busy then a generic soft case should fit overhead, if not choose two seats together and give one to the bass.
-
Kahler bridge too, they did the works on that one. If it's US made, you got it about a grand cheaper than it should have been.
-
Lovely, always wanted one of them. What a steal of a deal too. Well done.
-
To throw the question back at you, if your band is really less interesting and less lucrative, why does it motivate you? Is it that your less committed band mates are going through the motions and you need to replace them with people more interested in the band's music?
-
Lose the vanity and wear glasses, varifocal lenses allow you see up close and far away.

Woodinblack started following BC Rich Ironbird
-
It seems to have the same logo and switch arrangement as Geezer Butlers Live Aid one (but not the same pickups), I presume coil tap and series / parallel, you should be able to see from the wiring.

la bam started following OK... so age is now taking effect...

OK, so as many of us will probably have already come across, or will do soon.... Little awkward bits of getting older are now taking effect on being in a band. Like what? We'll, my main two are: 1. (this kills me to say..) weight of basses. Even though I'm fine with the weight, I can really feel it when the gig is over. So, a lighter bass for longer gigs (we do an average of 90 mins in one go) is an option. Any other ideas? We are fully no backline and iems so I've already saved on that. 2. And this is causing the most hassle.... Eyesight. Its going worse as I get older, but now I can't really see a set list on the floor. Worse, I can't see what patches I'm on on my (albeit small) zoom ms60b+. The thing is, we are in a touring band (theatres /larger venue etc) where the look is just as much as the playing, so I can't have a stand, or anything obvious. I don't want to wear glasses, but if I did it still wouldn't work as I can see fine close up, but not further away. So... on this one I don't know what to do? Get an ipad? A larger pedal with a large display so I can read it? (we do switch through a lot of different patches and sounds). Any other tips people have come across?

I think it can, out of my gigging band I think it’s the least payer for the others as we don’t take any money aside from expenses. Maybe it’s because we don’t play that often that keeps us motivated, I don’t know exactly but there’s never a problem with any band members not being prepared/rehearsed.
-
The bands I'm in all have clear aspirations for how often they want to gig. I have well over a hundred songs in my recently rehearsed/performed repertoire and many more I can play either from memory or brush up quickly. The whole reason I'm in multiple bands is because of my appetite for learning new material. It's incredibly satisfying to struggle with a song and use it as a way to rapidly improve my technique. I know bands that have one setlist and barely ever change it. I couldn't cope with that.
-
Yes: as long as you’re all clear from the outset what the expectations / level of commitment is. Motivation for most gigging musos would be regular paying gigs, input into set lists / songs, maybe make use of their skills for example singing lead on some songs etc. Basically get them involved in a band that’s doing stuff. And once up and running don’t be afraid to use good deps to cover those times when those other band commitments might prevent your usual line up from performing. More gigs you do, more people will get to know what you’re about.

Woodinblack started following Voltage to change batteries
-
9V batteries stay higher than 9v most of their life. if I was measuring a battery to see if it was good, and it was a normal PP3, If I measured it and it was below 9v I would throw it away.

If I had a hammer - Handy Andy ...whatever happened to him?

You second and third paragraphs appear to contradict each other! 😁
-
I'm not sure of that... most of our repertoire we haven't played the same twice.

Fixing A Hole — Beatles

I’ll just re-state my original question, as it’s three pages back… Can a band thrive if most of its members have other, clearly more interesting/lucrative interests? If so, how do you manage/motivate them?
-
BassmanPaul started following Epifani UL501 schematics...?
-
I would contact Epifani and ask them for the schematic. If nothing else they could suggest a place to take the amp to for repair. In future take the amp home with you to prevent unauthorized use. Is the guilty player going to cough up for the repair?
