  3. My Indonesian Squier P-bass Special has a neck like a matchstick. It's still about my favourite bass even though I've moved on to 5-string for the last couple of years. It's a PJ with P body and J neck, circa 2004. I bought it from the BC classifieds many years ago for not a lot at all. I gigged it for many years, preferring it over much more expensive basses
  4. I love this. Respect is earned not demanded. I once took my aluminium double bass with Golden Slaps to a stellar luthier who was fixing a vintage Hawkes bass worth maybe 20 times more. He treated me and the bass with the same respect as the super expensive bass.
  5. Great work @NancyJohnson and @prowla.. 👍 I should be able to make this too... 😎 #1 - Paul @NancyJohnson #2 - Paul #2 @prowla #3 - Martin @Merton #4 - Matt @Wombat #5 - Andy @Wolverinebass #6 - Stevie @stevie #7 - Lozz @Lozz196 #8 - Matt @neepheid #9 - @bassace97 #10 - Robert @bass_dinger #11 - Christopher @chyc #12 - jaco @Geek99 ** #13 - Alan @WalMan #14 - Trevor @TrevorR #15 - John @jonno1981 #16 - Gary @cetera #17 - @MacDaddy #18 - Steve @Stingray5 #19 - Russ @Russ #20 - Rich - errm, @Rich tbc #21 - Happy Jack @Happy Jack #22 - Silvia Bluejay @Silvia Bluejay #23 - Mike @mikelawrencecalleja #24 - @admiralchew #25 - martin @police squad #26 - @Sean #27 - @silverfoxnik
  6. This Friday STRAY will be playing Esquires in Bedford with support from Thr3e
  7. I just go the MVave IR box for my pocket rig and it's nice solid, easy, has it's own headphone out and can do audio via USB (there's no volume control for the USB which is a faff. but non issue in your case), XLR out and has High pass / Low Pass knobs too. Comes loaded with it's own IR's but they can be replaced via the app. The stock one's I've found "okay" but loaded my own and am having fun. I've not used it but was also recommended the Sonicake IR loader, also has an XLR out and your own IR's can be loaded into the slots. Can be had online for £35-40 Both super cheap, I got the Mvave for £20 or so. Ordered it and the Mvave Chocolate Plus mini bluetooth midi controller, both together was £40 delivered to my door, the future is now! Part of why I went for the Mvave was as I knew I was getting the midi controller and they use the same app etc.
  8. Paul, a chum of mine runs https://www.elitestringworks.com I could see if he’d be interested in coming along to do set ups and other straightforward tech work at the event. We had a friend of Nicks do that some years ago and it went down well.
  9. Nice one. I'm glad you got it sorted.
  10. Dropped off the Stentor this morning. The chap said that the bass is in good condition apart from the bridge, which he assured me will be sorted without the need for a replacement. I've left it at the shop, dropping off a set of Innovation silver slaps when they arrive. When I mentioned rockabilly, there was a slight snort of derision. I told him that I thought he had a ridiculous looking moustache (each to their own). We laughed. All is good 👍
  11. Removed from another project bass I was making. I bought this new. This is a clean and clear Glockenklang preamp. It’s in full working order. https://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/bass_systems/onboard_2-band.htm Volume, Balance, Treble and Bass controls with passive tone circuit activated from Push/Pull volume control. Specs from the Glockenklang website: ‘Onboard preamp 2-band The GLOCKENKLANG 2-band onboard preamp is active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull), has a balance-pot with no volume dip in center-position, a treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical highcut in passive mode and a bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Battery-connection is 9 / 18 volts. Due to the high performance electronic, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode! It comes pre-wired with highflexible cables.‘ £69 plus shipping. Pete
  12. Hey all Bought for a bass that I sold, so never used these. DR Pure Blues 45-130. &nbsp £35 shipped in the UK. Pete
  13. Morning all Up for sale is a set of Squier '77 VMJ pickups. Working perfectly and sound great; I used the bass I got them in for a different build project, so no longer need these. They even come with spring loaded foam, a nice touch. Easy to use for a bitsa build. I'm selling for £27 plus postage. Pete
  14. Revisiting here, I've sanded the finish off the back of the neck. It was just about ok originally, but I'm no fan of high gloss neck finishes; they get a bit fudgy over time. Much better now (well for me). @prowla was over a few days ago and gave it a thumping.
  15. Just installed a set of Cobalts (45-105) on my EBMM Stingray Classic. Really like them and they were brighter than I had expected. Not shrill like stainless rounds and maybe more akin to nickels that have been played a couple of times. Just hope they last longer than standard Slinkys, which in my experience are pretty much dead within a few days. May try a lighter set next time if these hold up OK. Cheers

  17. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/

  18. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. 19. Damn, I want this one too..!
  20. Great to play some very Dusty Hill...
  21. My eye (yes, I have two. Don't worry...) was caught by the cool looking lever at the top of the bridge - does this amazingly manly bass have a lever that deploys the string mutes? Bet MusicMan wish they'd thought of that before adding those fiddly tiny metal round screws under the bridges of Classic Stingrays. Seriously impressed by the intonation calibration markings on the bridge as well. If Bang & Olufsen made basses, they would make basses like this.
  22. These are great ! If I didn’t recently purchase the Akai tomcat, I’d have had this . Glwts !
