What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

I am totally in love with this pickup configuration -
Joyo Ironman Rushing Train mini pedal, mint condition, complete with box. This is a Vox style amp sim pedal. It's essentially a mini version of their ACTone pedal, one of a series including the American Sound, British Sound, Oxford Sound and Californian Sound. I read somewhere that these were. in turn, based on the Tech 21 "Character" series of preamp pedals, but I can't vouch for that. So if you want that Vox-ish sound in mini format, this is the pedal for you. £20 posted within UK.

Mustang Bass - MIJ Vs. JMJ - Do they sound different?
Lozz196 replied to Tim Chapple's topic in Bass Guitars
I’ve both and would say that the JMJ has a thicker chunkier tone with more mids, similar to a Precision, whereas the MIJ is more Jazz like, lower lows and crisper highs. -
I was pleasantly surprised. I chuckled quite a lot. If you were in two minds but haven't gone yet don't hang about. Our local Vue cinema are showing it for the last time tonight. We went to a local independent cinema to watch - much nicer place, sound wasn't deafening and they showed it at a much more sociable time. Anyway it might not be long on the big screen going by the very small audience

Bought a G&L L2000 bass from Mike today and the whole transaction from first enquiry and message to arriving home with the bass couldn't have gone any smoother. A great guy to deal with, the bass was exactly as described with all the case candy... and he makes a great cup of coffee too! If you're buying anything from Mike, then you're in safe hands. Many thanks Mike. All the best!

Did a trade with Keir for my Roscoe, for his Sadowsky. Good comms to arrange a mutual place and time, and a nice easy meet up. Lovely top bloke to boot.

Waiting on Bentley Heath for prices and availability. Closer to the middle than other suggestions so far 😉 May is completely out for me due to two 90th birthday parties on successive weekends and half term. April is possible (when is Easter 2026?) 3rd week in June looks good.

Cheers Mike, Likewise! A pleasure to meet you, thank you for bearing with me on the arrival time on the journey from London to the Wirral. The bass was totally as described and has clearly been looked after... and I was stunned with all the case candy and extras all in place. And he makes a fab cup of coffee! If you're buying anything from Mike, you're in good hands. All the best!

Good news…..I have been successful with the re-glueing and clamping the top on the bit that lifted. All re-sanded and oiled so onwards and upwards.

P-Ray? Stingision? Not a clue. Now with video!
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
I can’t decide which I liked best. I did do another one with my John Stockman / Karnivool patch and it sounded so OTT, but unfortunately the levels were crap and it was clipping all over the place. I used Moises to remove the original bass part. Such a great app! -

Thanks! Sounds epic. Especially with the Helix SVT 4 Pro sound. Those Aguilar MM pickups really are something special. I love the one I have in my 95 Stingray. Nothing sounds quite like it. -
Some more Hiromi era Anthony Jackson. The tune is called 'Spirit' and comes from the 2014 Trio Project album, 'Alive'. The track features a rare Jackson solo which is challenging but, in the main, the biggest problem is having to read triplet eighths as triplet eighths as the traditional 'swung triplets' approach doesn't work. Jackson swings some sixteenths but not others. Tricksy! I played this on my 7-string. Sounds lush, as our Nessa would say! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/spirit-hiromi-uehara/

Mustang Bass - MIJ Vs. JMJ - Do they sound different?
HeadlessBassist replied to Tim Chapple's topic in Bass Guitars
I've got an American Performer and it's a great bass. Definitely punches above it's weight. I played a JMJ and didn't think it was that different to my then Competition Burgundy Vintera II. Both of those were on flats (definitely not my thing), but I prefer the sprightliness of the American Mustang. I think (correct me if I'm wrong!) all of the Mustangs with the smaller split coil are the Japanese pickups (the height adjustment. screws have reverse Japanese threads.) The single coil J in mine is an American 'Yosemite' model. -
Sold my G&L L2000 to Mike today. Really nice guy to do business with. Very genuine and a real gent. Aside from the sale; he's got some great stories about gigging, musicians and the bass business. The sale was very smooth and a pleasure to meet Mike!
