  1. Past hour
  2. This is my old bass! I part ex’ed it to Will and really should not have done so! i will send you a PM
  3. Hi, I'm planning to do that when I can. I have been listening to music and watching videos a lot recently. I can already tell that this particular rabbit hole is deep! 👍
  4. Actually no idea, I assume the companies are basicly buying stuff from the same factories - I just bought the first one I saw as I think it was just over £50 at the time and I thought it woudl be handy, and it really has been.
  5. Hello, I live in the sprawling metropolis known as Ballynahinch 😉 What about yourself?
  6. Unfortunately I lost my battle with GAS and mr DPD delivered the ToneX one bass edition on Saturday... Set up was every bit as convoluted as people say and I'm still finding my way around the software now but there are some great things in there!
  7. That's very helpful, also, thanks. I'm guessing the Joyo is the original and Lekato the clone? But they are the exact same product?
  8. That's a bargain! Wish I had some cash at the moment.
  9. If only you were nearer
  10. Yamaha trb6 is brilliant. Pickups don’t sound hugely impressive outside the context of a band, but in a mix they just work so well.
  11. Now I look its actually the Lekato set, but looking at them they are identical apart from the logo, so I assume they are the same thing https://lekatodeal.com/en-uk/products/wireless-5-8ghz-microphone-system-plug-on-xlr-transmitter-receiver They are available cheaper than that. Also found out that if you leave them on so they run out (they don't auto switch off) and forget to plug them in before a gig, 25 minutes being plugged in (they have one of those 2 way charging leads so you can do both together) onto a USB power bank is enough to get you through 1hr and 20 minutes of the first set, without them getting to the flashing stage (not sure how much longer, we plugged them in during the 20 minute break and lasted the next hour and a bit). I would say that the only downside that we have noticed is that they are slightly wider than most microphones, so if you want to take them out of a microphone stand while you are singing, you need to pull the mic out, rather than slide the mic up.
  12. These look rather nice! Great specs for the price. No online reviews as yet https://www.musicstore.com/en_GB/GBP/Fame-Custom-JB-4-Black-Paisley/art-BAS0012971-000
  13. Having a gig in the diary and knowing what date you are working towards has always been the most important thing for the bands I have been in. You get crazy efficient when there is hardly any time left!
  14. Yep good point. Not sure i could sit in that section. Dave
  15. Good food thrown in is always a big plus Daryl. We always take our own sandwiches and juice etc but we regularly get offered the buffet at private parties but having already eaten we don't bother too much. There's always a McD's option on the drive home. 🤩🍟🍔 Anyways i thought you had a steady girlfriend ? Dave
  16. Supper time - Ella Fitzgerald
  17. Of course, just being set up at the moment. I collect tomorrow.
  18. Sprung Monkey - Thinking Problem
  19. Brilliant, thanks Woody! Think I'll recommend she puts that one on her Xmas list then!
  20. Open to offers... anyone?
  21. Just to clarify this is a Fender MIJ 62RI body and an Allparts (also MIJ) 70s-style Jazz neck. Allparts in my experience are at or above Fender USA quality - not quite a good as Warmoth but a significant step up from for example Mighty Mite and Fender MIM - and this neck is no exception. Neck retails at £419 without tuners, nut etc https://allparts.uk.com/collections/bass-necks/products/replacement-neck-for-j-bass-rosewood-board-w-finish-w-binding-block-inlays
  22. I'm not denying that any of us who can ride a push bike could learn to ride a motor bike, if we wanted to? Just like we could take up keys, or any other instrument for that matter, if we wanted to. And I suspect most musos already know that synth keys are the premium product in the synth-tone space? No debate from me on that, and respect to you for doing both. But it's why when bass players ask about bass synth pedals on a bass forum I don't immediately jump in and suggest they take up keys! And very much also vice versa if I was ever on a keyschat forum or thread.
  23. Sting had some nice tones going on during Police days. Rutgar Gunnarson the Abba bassist, some tasty tones - the playing and tone on One of Us is great IMO. Duran's John Taylor, Mark King, Paul Webb from TalkTalk just a few. All subjective and IMO of course, but being my era in my 20's, there was a lot of influential bass stuff going on between the 70's and the 80's, glad I was there 😆
  24. Thanks, I have to agree!
  25. I’ve thought about doing that a few times to one of my not so expensive precisions, I’m assuming it’s the one on the Sean Hurley P bass , I’ve got the Bassmute on one which is really good but they are a bit pricey
