If changing the setup to BEAD requires a bass change, go for it. By the way, how do you manage string changes with your other basses?

Thanks for your reply. I’ve got the neck fairly straight, just a very slight bow. Compared to my Warwick thumb it’s very straight. The Warwick is set up really nicely. Though I have tried more relief in the Bongo and after saddle adjustment I have the same problem. I’ve not changed string gauges recently. I’ve just not played the Bongo for about a year or more and when I came back to it I noticed the action was terrible and tried to make adjustments and now this problem. I’ll try more relief in the neck again like you suggested.

I think it's a prop like the Marshall ones. A local music venue also has one. David

Precisely, so I can’t solo a pickup to check if just one cancels the hum. But from looking online it seems as though they definitely do.

Thanks Bigguy I’ve got the neck fairly straight at the moment. Maybe a very slight bow. Ive tried more relief but have the same problem after adjusting the saddles to lower the action. I’ve got more than 3mm at the 12 feet and still buzzing. I have already taken care of the nut slot height and pretty happy with that. It’s not individual frets but really all frets from the 7th onwards that are a problem. I’m curious to understand what you mean when you say shim the neck to get the correct angle? We will get to the bottom of this problem 😂

Bought a Stomp as a backup, then realised I only ever used the Stomp as it was enough so I sold the full fat Helix, then realised the Stomp wasn't enough so swapped the Stomp for a Quad Cortex. As ever much time and money was spent for little, if any, gain.

So just a follow-up for anyone interested: today a beautiful 1980s Kawai K502 in mahogany was bought from and delivered by a local piano tuner/2nd hand dealer. Couldn't be happier!

Went round to the rehearsal space last night to drop off the new biamp cables for my GK rig and test it out, so thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, so to speak and brought the new P Bass to test out with it. To say I'm happy is an understatement 😁😁 -
I'll see if I can muster up the courage

DMZ pups are usually 4 conductor wiring to eliminate hum [asfaik], but if both pups are always on, shouldn't that eliminate any hum????
-
Agreed, but if you don't ask him, you'll never know, and I truly think he would give you all the advices needed to start on good basis. One hour with Axl will be better than a year on the YouTube... You have absolutely nothing to lose, on the contrary.

Some people can get away with it... Didn't know what time it was The lights were low I leaned back on my radio Some cat was layin' down Some rock 'n' roll 'Lotta soul', he said Then the loud sound did seem to fade Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase That weren't no D.J. that was hazy cosmic jive There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He's told us not to blow it 'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile He told me: Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie

Thanks @TimR, I've been almost lynched for what I dared to write there, so I understood that those in the mentioned thread are the defenders of "I make as much noise as I want, because I was there first and it's my property...".

And there was me thinking from your posts you were in your mid-thirties! Great playing and pics.

Welllll I work in Antwerp and I'm familiar with Axl Peleman, but a beginner contacting Axl Peleman for these issues feels like a beginner boxer contacting Mike Tyson for sparring 😅

Not sure the East option is going to work as their stock seems very low plus no response so have found myself rather interested in the Lusithand Double NFP which will also drop straight in https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/lusithand-double-nfp-jazzplate-updated/ Any experience?
