  2. I've been working on a wiring diagram for my latest idea. There is some method behind the madness: In everyday use I run with both pickups, tone and volumes full. To get more middle, turn the neck pickup down a bit, less middle, turn the bridge pickup down a bit. If I use a pick, I may turn the tone down on one of the pickups if I don't need all the click. I haven't got a taping kill switch, and really ought to have one. So here's the circuit I came up with. The two pots represent a logarithmic MN taper pot that is built as one pot to make a centre notched pickup blend control. Easy to turn one pickup down a bit. Then there are two tone switches. Quick selecting pre-set low pass. Then a tapping kill switch (Break signal switch-Normally Closed, Press = mute) That will be fun. The circuit analyser says it's all in phase and won't be hum cancelling. It may be because the pickups are single coil in the model. A bit more research there needed. I intend to replicate the existing low pass filter spec. They have a subtle effect, just enough to take the growl out. No need to experiment, someone has already done that it seems. I'd be interested to hear any comments or suggestions/improvements.

  4. I will soon be the proud owner of the MB58R 102 Energy instead of the P variant ! 400w rated instead of 300w
  5. Welcome Rover.
  6. I appreciate your advice on this. I'm still thinking about the decal! I don't think I want a fretless - I have the DB and EUB if I want to scratch those itches. As for the Chinese neck, I was looking at it tonight and realised I may have been a bit unfair to it. I am not an expert on neck profiles but it is quite deep so assume it probably is a D type profile so not really Jazz like at all. I also now assume the original nuts were not that wide due to the headstock profile so it may be more faithful to the original than I thought. I wouldn't know if course, as I've never seen a real 51 in the flesh, I just love the look. This neck is really straight though and has not needed much adjustment so far. Very happy!
  7. Oh Apologies matey, have a lovely rest of holiday and hopefully chat when you get back.
  8. @Lord Sausage Huge musical composition. Keeps turning up new and interesting melodies and ideas all the way through. Some stunning playing in there too.
  9. I just remembered that I forgot to mention the tuners. Again, these were Ali Express left handed ones. I can't remember how much they were but I think it was less than a tenner. I will edit my earlier costs post. ..
  10. Hello everyone, I started learning last year, and have a lesson every week with generally a lot of practice in between. I do have a number of other interests so I confess that I don't always do as much as is needed, but I'm making progress and enjoy every minute. Although I have always loved Rock (I'm a closet Prog-Rocker!), at 73 I'm arguably a bit old to be the next rock god (laugh dammit, that was a joke!), so I'm biting the bullet and learning to read and play Jazz. My first, and current, bass is a P-J style Epiphone Power bass. A much maligned 4-string instrument, it does have one big negative - of which more in a question I will ask in the appropriate place. Otherwise, I love it. That's probably more than enough about me for now, so thanks for reading this far! Rover
  11. In the 1980s even Cliff Williams played a headless bass 😁
  12. Ok, I'm done. I'm not 100% happy with the mix and it's a couple of seconds over. I've cut a minute off it and I can't take any more off. It just sounds weird to me now because of the cuts.😆 So I've had enough. It is what it is. Like I said. Based on the E7 triad riff and I mess with the scales each time round. Affecting(contorting) the melody, chords etc. Listen to Echoes of the Altered by Dreaded Ted & The Nutters on #SoundCloud
  13. Let the chips fall where they may. Also avoid Oct 11-12th - that's the SW bash...

  17. It's because frequency cancellation, a side-effect of two pickups in parallel². The closer the pickups are together, the stronger the effect. When that happens, the midrange gets reduced. Can be solved by not having both pickups at 100%. (² like that glassy sound on a Stratocaster on positions 2 & 4)
  18. I think you might have to pick a date and go for it. Exception being avoiding school holiday weekends- that makes sense. It’s going to be impossible to find a date that works for everyone.
  19. Nah. By playing a reverse fretless surely.
  20. Selling my Kemper rack unpowered and footswitch I got a couple of months ago. It sounds great but in all honesty I just can't be bothered figuring out how to use the thing properly so going to sell this to fund a Neural Quad Cortex. It has some presets/performances etc pre loaded from the previous owner. Physical condition has some marks etc but works exactly as it should! Happy to ship at cost (not sure how much this would cost to ship yet). Save yourself a chunk of money off new. Looking £900 which seems to be a fair bit below the cheapest ive seen sold on here.
  21. Looks very tasty that does. Hat is firmly off to you 👍
  22. Maybe avoid half term weekends? 25/26 October and 1/2 November. But that’s not really a deal breaker. Otherwise no preference.
  23. Nice. The original Arpege body shape is fantastic. It's a shame, but understandable, that he reined it in a bit with the later models.
  24. We changed to a female vocalist about 6 years ago. Got rid of all the old staid 'Dad Rock' stuff and now play Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Dua Lipa, etc. It is great fun coming up with arrangements that a power trio can pull off. No synth, brass, strings or backing singers, but the rhythm, lyrics, melody and chords are there and it works.
  25. It's a fab little pedal, I'm just having a clear out!
  26. Being sent audio of the last originals rehearsal. Sound quality is awful, reverberation and hardly any bass. Some of the songs are a bit ordinary, but one or two could prove real bangers. I won't share because the quality is seriously poor.
