It was slow with the 15W antex, but doable with patience and a 4mm tip. I did it many times in the past.

First 5 string - Sire Marcus Miller V7 Reissue a good entry point?

Out of curiosity what is the neck heel width? I'm wondering if one of the Aurok necks might fit. The Z7 I tried in Andertons was absolutely killer, better sounding than both the rays I have. But I have a profound dislike of that lower horn shape. -

I am thinking about separating my bass from my monitors and going through a small amp rather than everything going through the monitors in my practice room. My current set up includes a valve preamp that really gives a nice growl on the bridge pickup on my J style bass, not distorted or overdriven, just a nice Jazz bass tone. Anyone have any experience with the EBS session range? I picked that one because it’s all analogue. I guess I could go with my current preamp and have a small FRFR, but like I say my practice space is quite small so big speakers are not suitable. Any advice or ideas please, and thanks.

Belatedly learned this morning of @SamIAm's death from @miles'tone. Really upsetting, Sam was a whirlwind of life, ideas and good humour. Looking at the McMillan page I realise her surname was Margerison which is my aunt's maiden name. It's not a common name so there is probably some relationship. RIP Sam - hope you and the big Maker are having fun.

Great condition Hellx LT complete with Diago showman pedalboard which does a great job of protecting it. The LT is in full working order and minimal signs of use. Factory reset and up to date firmware. I also have the original box up in the loft if the purchaser wants it! The case is fairly well worn and was used extensively with other pedals before the helix went in it, but it's solid and perfect for the job and has spare space for external pedals, wireless etc Collection from Chelmsford. Only selling as I need to physically downsize to a StompXL or similar (Anagram quad cortex etc) to gain some stage space. Might consider a trade/PX some something smaller!

Hmmm - it's an FX-888D I have; maybe I'll give it another try. I was trying to remove existing solder but it couldn't do it, so I just ended up adding more to it...

Plenty of parallel processing going on in my board but I use a EHX tri mixer as is gives me more flexibility over volumes and phase.

Thanks Luke, your experience sounds similar to mine with the Barts+ Bart pre - mid control just seems to add huge gain ,(not so much when I switch it to 800Hz TBF) I do get some decent tones out of it but am tempted to try the East, especially as she of the pots are on the way out (it's 20yrs old). It'll mean drilling out the holes to 10mm though (and it's a nice bass, Zon Sonus), so just building up the courage!

Didn't they try mixed-magnet pickups a few years back? And people said that they sounded much better if you took them out and rotated them 180 degrees 😆 These sound like the same spec as you get in the American Professional II range and the standard pickups offered in the Mod Shop, especially with the slight overwind. They do sound very good. The design has been around since the American Professional debuted in 2016. I'm surprised about the mention of "increased output". The overwind usually gives a slightly lower overall output, but increased mids. And yes, some people have turned them through 180 degrees, but that's just the 'no treble' crew. They could've done them in a decent colour, though. That shade is utterly heinous.
