  4. Jack...Spalted Poplar??? I think my Kasper may be from the same log...
  5. Question: would the knobs from a J control plate equipped with stack knobs fit the East pot shafts?
  6. Picked up the combo a few weeks back and happened upon the cab a few days ago having given up hope of ever finding the matching set - love, love, love this thing! punchy TE sound in spades, plus it glows under UV 👽 1994 vintage

  10. Update: I went to Andertons today with a bass playing mate along for the ride to trade in the Ashdown MAG and check out the TC kit. Despite have phoned the day before and again just before leaving, they couldn't track down the cab in the shop and had to send out to the warehouse. In the meantime, we put the BQ250 into a 12" Ashdown cab and it sounded crap and a big let down. Just as I was thinking that it was a wasted trip, we eventually twigged that the problem was the borrowed 5 string (dodgy pot/battery? Dunno). Swapped the bass and behold, double the volume and punch. The TC cab eventually arrived and the 2 x 8 sounded better than the 1 x 12, job done.
  11. Sterling Stingray Short Scale This was one of my main basses when playing short scale instruments following hand surgery. It’s easy to get around because of the slim neck and 30” scale and enabled me to get back into gigging. This bass has a beautiful flamed roasted maple neck with birdseye board. The bass has three original tuners and a Hipshot D tuner fitted. It has a black pickguard fitted as well as the original pearl white one. It is well balanced and comfy to play over long gigs. It weighs 3.7kgs. The final picture shows it alongside a full size Stingray Special. Selling as I no longer need it. It is a lovely bass and I kept it in preference over two EBMM US made short scale Stingrays. Postage in the UK will be £20 if you can’t pick it up in person. No trades and it is a UK sale only sorry.

  13. I bought these for a project that never happened, used but in good condition, £90 £70 including delivery to UK addresses
  14. Thanks Steve - I really should have mentioned that.
  15. Excellent cabs these are.
  16. Selling these in an effort to clear some space. They really are great sounding cabs, and look great on stage as a stack. They're not super light, but a one handed lift if you're pretty strong, or an easy 2 hand lift. In good condition, there's a few rust spots on the grill in places, but nothing major. Happy to sell separately. Collection from High Wycombe, or I'm happy to drive an hour or so to meet up.

  18. Actually I used the board as is last night at rehearsal. I was not aware of any noise and no-one else mentioned anything although it was in true bypass all evening.
  19. I picked up a cheap P bass recently and decided to put one of John's looms in it. John is a nice person to communicate with, is ready with advice, and he dispatched the loom promptly. The loom is great quality, came with clear instructions and has helped convert a cheap, fun bass into a proper usable instrument for not a lot of money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if needed. Cheers John.
  20. Unfortunately due to the nature of passive electronics (and this is on all things - this is ultimately why fender got rid of the dual tones on the jazz), if you put them before the volume then the tone will work independently all the time the volume of one side or the other isn't full up. However, when the volume is all the way up, both tones are effectively wired together, and there isn't much you can do about it, without introducing active electronics.
  21. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
