  1. Past hour
  2. It's his band, but we old farts want the young un' to succeed.
  3. Fender style tone stack vs Ampeg?
  4. Oooooo that's pretty - it's exactly the same pattern as mine shape wise - quite broad in the bum with fairly sharp C bouts ... lovely shape. My somewhat crowded music corner ... behind the Les Paul is my Promethean bass amp - and under my guitar amp (the tweed Peavey) is my 2x12 extension bass cab
  5. Even worse is using soundchecks to rehearse
  6. Yeah that's what I mean, so I'm really surprised the competitive price wasn't based on moving lots of units and they're this uncommon. Lovely basses, I always looked at as a bit of a middle finger to EBMM for never giving Flea a sig bass!
  7. Give a Little Bit - Supertramp
  8. All joking aside, on a visit to Maruszczyk some years ago, I tried out a Fendery-shaped bass with 3 p-bass pups on it. It wasn’t pretty, but all the tone-shaping variety of an active bass within a passive set-up. Lovely.
  9. Today
  10. I think ‘relative’, for me, is the key here as the prices for US gear has gone up so much over the past 3-5 years. But it was always priced well for the spec I thought with the quartersawn neck and electrics. Just my opinion.
  11. In My Cher - Status Quo
  12. Thanks Walshy. I'll look forward to that
  13. Very nice indeed, GLWTS.
  14. And a piezo under the bridge, obvs.
  15. If your wife spots the withdrawal on your credit card statement, just tell her it was for coke and hookers. You MIGHT just get away with it.
  16. Hi Rob just listening to Camel Pointless album and there's a nice catchy wee riff on The Sleeper if looking for ideas. Dave
  17. I can't believe so few of these were made, felt like they were for sale everywhere for years at a relatively low price point for a US artist model?
  18. Let see which one will stay
  19. How very true! We sacked our first singer as he always had an excuse. Three years was probably giving him too much rope…
  20. Here we go again... this is a great bass, but the length of it exacerbates my nerve pain, and no matter how incredible the tone is I need something a bit smaller that sits in a different position, like a Music Man. These are Jazz Bass size, with one extra fret, so a touch longer. I think that the magic of this bass is in the pickup, and not the pre amp as some folk have written online. I'm lucky enough to have bought a used pickup, which is pretty amazing as these basses are rare, so I'll be putting it into what ever bass I replace this one with - it has a huge output and sculpted tone. A maximum of 550 of these were made, with 250-275 in silver and the same amount in pink. This is another reason I've been reluctant to let it go; and also why I'm not all desperate to trade it - this advert is just out of curiosity to see if there's anything out there. Made in USA for about 2-3 years, this one from 2019. Weighs approx 9.33lbs / 4.23kg It's in a 9.5/10 condition, with just a few tiny marks on the back. Quatersawn neck, alder body, compound radius fingerboard, Tim Shaw designed pickup, Aguilar OBP-1, BA style bridge.... It's a beast. Comes with the original case and all candy. Trade only - for an EBMM Stingray Special, or maybe a pre 2018 Stingray. 21. It’s always nice when a change inspires you. I was first looking for Lollar pickups for my 79 Yamaha jap pbass. I kept missing some on the used market. In that time a friend offered me some Bart’s. They sang in a way that inspired me to improvise for hours upon hours. I would like to try lollars at one point though.
  22. I have a pelham blue one. I have cobalt flats on mine and play 100% fingerstyle. Happy to answer any questions but too busy with a fast approaching deadline to do a vid at the moment.
  23. When I was young, you had your band and that was it. Getting into my 30s, I realised a lot of people had a few different projects on the go. I wound up doing the same and would regularly be in 3 bands at once. It peaked around 2019 where I was in six bands. However, being in a band means you put the work in. You show up on time, learn your parts and commit. I operated first come first served with bookings and actually having clashes was rarely an issue. Equally, you have to be gracious about people depping for you, if you are playing in a few groups. I've just gone the other way and currently have my duo that is pretty regular and just one band that is more of a recording project that do a few gigs a year at most. I was definitely becoming guilty of not saying no to things but I actually think if you aren't learning the songs, it's quite rude. Rehearsal is to learn to play as a band, not for the ones who are thinly stretched to be taught the songs, especially if they then forget them for next time. People have different levels of enthusiasm and offer different levels of commitment. However, there has to be a common minimum standard and if players are not meeting this, something needs to give.
  24. Richter BassXX 2-band preamp. Volume control pot and stacked bass/treble - Previously fitted to 1 pickup bass, so there's no balance pot included. You can either use a standard passive balance control, or I have an active Richter balance pot available separately (click here). Please Note: The connectors for the low battery LED have snapped off at the board.. so this feature isn't available, the preamp itself is fully working. Comes with black knobs and new battery connector. I'll include a battery clip if you need one, just ask. £75 including UK delivery (fully tracked/insured), payment via bank transfer (preferred) or PayPal. PHOTO WILL BE ADDED SHORTLY 👍
