Peavey Bass speaker buzz/distorted- possible to fix?

Oh that is interesting news re. there being a 'big announcement' tomorrow. Because Line 6 announced Helix on 11 June 2015 i.e. tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Helix!

What's for certain is that a decent passive Fender can sound as good as anything at any price. I prefer that raunchy Fender tone to most very expensive boutique basses.

While pretty basic compared to many of the examples in this thread I'm still pretty pleased with my latest DIY pedal - the Quasi-Jive! I had started to make a stripboard Jptr Jive when I realised a Zvex SHO clone PCB would get me 95 % of the way there. I added my favourite of the clipping diode options from the original Jive, and voilà! I'd like my toddler to decorate it but I'm not sure he has the attention span to finish the job.

Thats interesting and I totally forgot to mention the pickups. The hum canceling ones have benefits but definitely impact the sound as well. It’s kind of a pick your poison thing. Will Lee basically wanted a more fenderish bass than the regular sadowsky J is.

I have to sat that the finish is superb. I loved it and IMO much nicer than a glossy lacquered finish from the factory. When I received the bass it was obvious that something wasn't right. I took it to the tech I use for his opinion. He got back to me saying that the neck would need clamping, frets levelling and possibly steaming. The fretwork as mentioned is very good otherwise. I sadly couldn't afford to get the work done, I really had to push the boat out to buy it in the first place. So even if (and don't think you would) spent 300 quid on it to get it right, it's still a great price for a Stingray. And at 4.1 Kg, it's no boat anchor either.

This sunday was my bands first gig this year. A nice three band matinee, at the Fiddlers Elbow in Camden with us opening the show. Decided to take the tube, so went as lightweight as possible, my bass (mendel Precision) and my tech21 dUg, going through venues Fender Rumble. Stage sound was great, audience was very receptive and we had a nice little suprise... We are an originals band, but frequently throw in a cover of Staring at the Rude Boys, by the Ruts. As were playing it, the Ruts bass player Segs walked! We had a nice chat later - great chap. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon!

Just reading through the other forum, and saw something interesting around the Hyper Luminal compressor, and that is: it doesn't compress. No matter than input level, threshold, or ratio, there is no gain reduction. Seems like a bug, but a very weird one!

Years ago i brought a MM Sub off a member here. It arrived the same day i got a Lakeland Duck Dunn (again). I took both to a gig and found the Sub was actually better for our older Motown stuff. In fact i used it for 2 out of 3 sets. I’ve always wanted to get another but still haven’t got around to it.

Hi folks, selling my amazing tech 21 fly rig due to picking up a hx stomp. I've had this pedal for a few years and it's brilliant. I've only ever used it at home and in all honesty only used the sansamp/tuner/compressor functions however it all works as it should. It's in good condition, slightly dusty with a few minor marks. Original box included and will include the power supply. Price is posted in the UK. If anyone wants better pics let me know. Thanks

Price drop - £155 includes UK postage Hi, I’m selling my Aguilar Octamizer version 2. Well looked after and very little use. £185 price includes UK Postage. Here’s a bit of info from Aguilar: AN ALL-ANALOG OCTAVE PEDAL THAT CREATES A WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL SOUNDS AN OCTAVE BELOW YOUR BASS SIGNAL. Modeled with old school and new school needs in mind, the Octamizer features independent volume controls for both the Clean and Octave sounds. This makes dialing in the exact amount of each a cinch. The two discrete signal paths also have their own tone controls that were specifically designed to enhance and expand their musical possibilities. The CLEAN TONE control uses a full spectrum tilt EQ, allowing for the boosting of treble while cutting bass or boosting of bass while cutting treble. This unique circuit allows you to create a clean sound that creates an octave doubling effect or to blend the sounds together for a great thick, snarky synth tone. *Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Proprietary detector circuit for superior tracking Continuously variable multipole low-pass filter for Octave sound Dual filter architecture Full spectrum tilt EQ for clean sound Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Cheers! Michael
