  2. Ok another update:. The necks are in QC having some visual things sorted out before I recieve them. Walman has graciously and kindly offered to recieve a full shipment (if thats what ends up being most cost effective) this one time, and make sure each of you get the neck you have ordered. I did estimate 390RMB for a shipment up to 20kg but for a final cost I need to give the logistics company final weight and volume and see if we are over the minimum (which seems unlikely)and how much extra that would cost. Timing wise, hopefully I will have the necks early to middle of next week because the extra painting i have asked for needs time to dry. Assuming there are no further QC issues that need necks to be returned for further work, then I'll weigh and send the info to the shipping company and update everyone on the final shipping cost. At that point we will all know the final balance.

  4. I have both a Z3-5 and Z7-5. I no longer have an EBMM Stingray 5, I have the Ray35 which isn't that different from the 'real thing' (and the 4-string EBMM Stingray that was my main bass for over a decade). My comparisons are based on that specific sample of basses, and my opinion is just that: like, my opinion, maaan. The Sires' built is more than decent. Their necks are just beautiful. The Z7 is the winner in terms of looks and feel. The neck of the Z3 wasn't as well finished, but this is not so much to say the Z3 was bad, rather that the Z7 was superb. I think it would be very difficult to match the general build quality of an EBMM instrument. But they also cost quite a lot more, and these do not feel 'budget' at all (especially the Z7). Both can sound very Stingray-like, with the Z3 closer than the Z7, to these ears o'mine. I've been using mostly the Z3 live, since I bought it.

    Valeton GP-5

That's helpful thanks. I've got a preamp tone I'm super happy with on my GT1000 Core, so I may as well stick to the drums and looper on the B1-4, and sacrifice a bit of pedal board real estate.
  6. Thanks for that, Chris. I just skipped through it just now as it’s past my bedtime, but I’ll give it a proper listen tomorrow. Sounds intriguing.
  7. . . . also check out Renaud Garcia-Fons. He's an amazing bass player and even got his own Tiny Desk concert.
  8. Check out Francois Rabbath The Sound Of A Bass I bought this album in the late 60's. As a bass player it stopped me dead in my tracks.
  9. Zadok The Priest - George Frederick Handel
  10. One of our own plays bass for Cloudbusting. Really good. Off to see Nena in Manchester on Sunday and then next week Glenn Hughes also in Manchester.
  11. Hi, thanks for the message, do you have any pics please? thanks Matt
  12. I recently acquired a SR750 NTF via Reverb - it's the best sounding bass I own, much prefer it to my Aria SB1000 RI.
  13. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. I’m happy doing what I’m doing. But I’m more interested in this thread about solo bass albums, what people listen to, or think of the genre, what to look out for.
  14. This is a feeler to see if there are any fans of collectable quirky vintage basses out there. This is a ’63 Gretsch 6070 (often erroneously referred to as a Country Gentleman Bass). It’s in pretty reasonable condition for its 62 years! Plays well and sounds really good, and all electrics work as they should. There are 2 small repairs in the famously fragile binding (see pix). As anyone familiar with this instrument will know it’s designed to be played in an upright position like a double bass, but the spike is missing. The string damper mechanism is working but the actual damper pad is also missing. The neck is totally fine and the frets have some wear, but it doesn’t seem to affect the playability. I would categorise this bass as a player rather than a display cabinet example. Please feel free to PM me with any questions. These normally go on sale for between £2 & £4k, but I've priced it for a quick sale. No case. Trial/viewing welcome. I would not be too keen to ship such an old timer, but I’m open to discussion. U.K. only please. Reason for sale - I’m a pro player approaching retirement and need to thin down my collection somewhat for space reasons.

  15. I read that as slow blow, 100 mA, low rupture capacity, 250 V, which shouldn’t be hard to find - CPC website is down right now otherwise I’d find it there and give you a link. Is it 20 mm or 32 mm long and is it from a device’s mains inlet or something else?
  16. So this band imploded after the September gig. The new band is the old singer and drummer… With 2 bass players sharing the stuff with strings. Should be absolutely fine now.
  17. No kidding, I was running sound over at The Crown, my uni volunteers us students, as well as some of our equipment, to help out. We supplied The Crown and The Star (outside), and we had students all over the place.
  18. Very slow, I can't see any of these for this price anywhere and I have 3 basses I have been trying to sell. 1 just sold at last!
  19. 2/3 basses for sale and a Hartke amp to shift… market seems slow 😵‍💫
  20. No hurry, I've had this for sale for a while so am dropping the price again. It's a lovely guitar for the money
  21. Just be aware the drum machine is in the app, not the pedal as far as i can see. it’s nowhere near as versatile as the Zoom IMO, but i feel the amps and cabs sound more convincing.
  22. Oh no…..it’s on here again! Be gone temptress!
  23. Nailless fingerstyle? Not sure why that makes DB out of the question? Get yourself a 4/4 and a bow, spend a few weeks enduring frustrating squeals, and then experience the sublime moment at which the bow finally speaks and the whole system - instrument, player, and room - resonates, and you won’t look back 👍

    Velcro

Several rolls of adhesive Velcro. Came with various Pedaltrain boards I’ve had. The rolls on the left are spiky side. The ones on the right, fuzzy side. The wide strip underneath is both sides and it’s folded in half, so twice that length. The thinner one, fuzzy side. Apple for scale and not included. Free to collect from BB8, east Lancs, or will post it out for a fiver.
  25. I'm bringing this to Sunday's SW Bass Bash. Although I'm really trying to slim down my kit, I'm not wholly averse to a trade with cash my way... If it sells, I'll donate 5% of the net proceeds to the Bash running costs.
