Running a Phil Jones Double Four BG75 from USB power

Thanks, the claimed output of my power bank on one of the USB Type-C ports is up to 20V-3.25A(Max 65W), it does give different values for the other Type-C port which is rated up to 12V/1.5A (Max 18W) so hopefully the stated spec is accurate. Guess I'll have to wait and see! Was just worried about potentially damaging my beautiful magic shoebox! -
Today, I just stupidly bricked my Zoom B3** and I'm mourning the loss already. Does anyone have a Zoom B3 available to sell? The £50 is simply the maximum amount basschat allows me to put in without a subscription - I guess it's not geared up for people posting wanted ads (mods: if this is the wrong place to place a post, please move it, or say and I will) ** I unthinkingly put the end of the 9V power cable into one of the audio ports (I think it was the Mono). The contact was momentary and I hoped the shielding on the power connector had done no damage, but it seems, alas, not. I looked at the PSU and it's + on the tip sleeve, so maybe that was enough to put some current into the audio circuit and so on to fry the brain of the thing. After correctly inseting the PSU it (a) booted to the Zoom screen, not flashing though, for 10 minutes, then (b) all screens flashing on/off, then (c) no lights at all, just bricked. My wife, when I told her said, don't power stuff at the PSU end until you've correctly connected it up to the device - useful advice I'd been too lazy to follow.

Sometimes it's only the band who notice their bandmates getting it right, but their smile in recognition is for me reward in itself. Often the audience actually also does notice, without necessarily fully knowing why? Sure we've all "flattened" / simplified bass lines to get them good enough for a gig, maybe due to a lack of time or perhsps technical ability and never return to work on them further. But when they are done properly they can often give a song a lift. A simple example: the iconic riff in John McVie's Go your own way bassline - I'd been guilty of leaving that out for far too long and playing sonething that fitted. But playing McVie's line as he intended it, has definitely added something to both the band sound and my enjoyment of playing that song. So, if you want to invest the time in nailing a bass line, Dave, go for it mate!

Clearly, they are 10 times the price I would expect them to be a lot better, and I wasn't expecting much if anything from the lekatos (in fact I didn't use them for a year or so as I figured they would be poor) but they work really well, so they will do for me - I am not in the MiPros price bracket!

When I built this out of reclaimed pitch pine it came in at 9.5 lbs. After the router attack it's a lovely 8.25. A late 70's Musicmaster that is so heavy you hate playing it is begging for the router. No-one's gonna want it as is if it's that heavy. Go the rout route and then you'll play it all the time. -

Having come to the conclusion that my Wayne Jones BP1 meets all my live needs when paired with my powered cabs I have taken the decision to downsize my pre amp collection. This JHS Colour Box Preamp/EQ/Distortion Pedal is in good condition and will come with an aftermarket 18v power cable. The V1 is great for bass (and the V2 offered nothing additional for the bass player) and sounds excellent in both a live and studio setting. There are many reviews on Youtube and try out near York is offered and postage is included in price. FROM JHS: In 2012, I had a crazy idea for a tone shaping device that had never been done before in the world of guitar pedals. I wanted to create an effects pedal that replicated the hard-to-achieve sounds of "direct-in" electric guitar recordings that I loved. Bands like the Beatles, Spoon, Wilco, and Steely Dan had used this technique for years, but it was nearly impossible to recreate live. I wanted this pedal to transform my guitar rig into the tonal equivalent of a Neve studio console, and that was no small task. After lots of trial and error, experimentation, and re-works, this concept evolved into something far beyond what we had imagined. In 2014 as we filmed the first demo videos at Abbey Road Studios in London and this idea had evolved into the most unique product we had ever made. The Colour Box was a full-fledged studio-grade preamplifier, EQ, and distortion generator with multi-instrument compatibility. It did what I had always wanted it to do, but it did so much more! On its release day, I wasn't quite sure how it would be accepted, but I knew that I loved it. As a few months went by, we saw something amazing begin to happen; this pedal was showing up in all types of environments. Producers, engineers, and artists were emailing us, tagging us on socials and showing how they had put the Colour Box to use. Studio vocals, live vocals, kick drums, acoustic guitars, bass, keys, overhead drums, stereo buses, room mics, synths, re-amps, and some incredibly large stage setups had it on almost every instrument! This unit can be heard on dozens of recordings from U2, Wilco, The National, Spoon, Collective Soul, Muse, the War on Drugs, and Phantogram amongst others.

I only ever tried the EB Cobalt flats yet, but those never ever stuck to my fingers (I got hands that are normally dry but very suddenly can get very sweaty, so I'm all over the spectrum).

I played Morecombe punk fest a couple of years ago with my ankle broken in 2 places - even managed to drive there (left foot in plaster, electric car with one foot driving!).

Gig last night, a wedding. I am not generally a great fan of weddings, but they do pay well and many of them have been great. Normally it is a pain to load in and out while they are doing speeches etc. This one we had a little flap at the back of the tent to load in, but luckily it was just me and the drummer so loading in wasn't too bad, the guitarist came later once we had everything in. Quietly got everything loaded through the various speeches. For some reason the X-Control wasn't working - I know it wasnt the X18 or the router as I had wireless, but swapping cables didn't work. In the end the singer found if he started it holding the ethernet cable up, it worked. Time for some new ethernet cables! They had changed their mind about the first dance song, and wanted something to dance with everyone with, but didn't have an opinion what, so we went for 'saw her standing there' as it is generally love based and we can't normally play it as the drummers dad always wants to sing it, and he is at all of our public gigs, it went down a storm. So everyone danced for 5 or 6 songs and then went out of the tent - it had been raining for a while and suddenly got nice. So it was largely an empty tent for most of the first half until obviously 2 songs before the half time, when everyone came back in and danced. we extended a few songs then had a break. Came back in and everyone had gone off again, half into the pub the marque was in the garden of and half outside, so we did half the set to one woman, who to be fair was enjoying it, and her other half came in later so there were two of them. Towards about half an hour before the end, a large group came in and started dancing and enjoying it and then inevitably everyone was in for the last 2 songs and after the landlord gave us a hard '1 more song' and we did that song, were all shouting for more songs. As usual. Then as we broke down, or trying to, a couple of the guys were trying to set up a silent disco, which involved lots of them standing in the way while we were trying to break down and making it really slow. It was ok but I am not a fan of weddings!

I'm selling this lovely Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz as my P Bass does everything I need. This is one of the original made in China basses, made in 2012. The quality is fantastic, with a rosewood board, high mass brass saddles and decent tuners it's definitely a step up from the current Made in Indonesia models. The wood grain on the neck is really nice. Truss rod is fine and all hardware is working as normal. It's in great condition apart from one small ding on the forearm - This could be easily repaired/covered with paint if required but I wanted to leave it. Frets are in really good condition, I've given the board a fresh coat of lemon oil and it has a new set of EB Slinky 105-55s on it. 38mm nut width with a lovely slim neck and weighs a comfortable 4.2kg/9lb 5oz. Looking for £300 - These basses are definitely starting to gain a bit of a cult following due to the quality. Any question please ask.

Having stopped taking 2 basses to every gig I am no longer using this excellent pedal (now discontinued) that is built like a tank and offers a number of useful features. "The LITTLE LEHLE II - the universal Lehle switching and looping tool. The LITTLE LEHLE II removes effect pedals from the signal path at the press of its button. A signal can be picked off at any point in the signal chain, to switch to an instrument tuner, for example. The LITTLE LEHLE II can also be used to switch between two instruments on one amp or, vice versa, between two amps with one instrument. Extremely diverse sound sources are possible - signals from pick-ups, microphones and keyboard line-out sockets are routed loss-free to the target amplifier or recorders, and all jack sockets are stereo. Switches with gold-plated contacts assure True Bypass. As on this unit's "big brother", the LEHLE D.LOOP SGOS, not only the stereo signal, but also the signal ground, is switched - so it's goodbye to hum when switching between two amps, and selecting effect loops - it just can't happen any more! The easy-action mushroom-shaped button characteristic of Lehle products is mounted in the cover, so that your foot pressure is transmitted indirectly, via only a spring, to the slide switch with its gold-plated contacts. The electronics board is thus not exposed to mechanical loads, making the Little Lehle II virtually indestructible and guaranteeing years of trouble-free switching." Have to admit i stood at all the gigs i did and from memory i vaguely recall my leg was a bit aching but not that bad i had to sit down. Here's me standing at one of the gigs. You can just see the white plaster cast under my jeans on my right leg. Altho a roadie did all the lifting of my gear i still managed to wire it all up. I was using a Roland pre-amp with 2 Mattamp power amps that i had positioned on my LHS so i could make changes as and when required. Unfortunately at this particular gig one of the power amps started smoking badly and when roadie went to switch it off he got a shock from it. He was ok tho and simply pulled the mains plug instead. Indeed - if anything it seems to have been swept under the carpet of history. It doesn't appear to have been hyped or marketed at the time either, so it's not even much of a noble failure. It just doesn't seem to have been given much of a chance. -
Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!
