  1. Past hour
  2. Assuming that everything else about the band is okay, I would join without a qualm. we live today in a series of echo chambers that reflect (and amplify) our own views. I’m not sure that society has improved as a consequence and I firmly believe that we only tackle extreme views on either side by talking to each other. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and even if they’re views that I find distasteful, so long as they’re not illegal, who am I to force everyone to think as I do? Bigotry exists on both the hard right and the hard left and it can only be challenged if we spend time in the same room. The world is polarised enough without me adding to it so, yes, I’d join the band. Unless it was jazz. There are limits….
  3. Come and give some a try
  4. Interesting response and this is kinda the crux of the question so thanks for that. It presents an interesting dilemma... How important are our own personal moral compasses/opinions and should we just try to get along, accept others opinions (even if they may be repulsive to us)? For me, my moral compass won't allow me to 'get along' with someone who holds such abhorrent opinions....
  5. What's done? Is the mould made? This is all very exciting
  6. Are they loud for their rated wattage as the Portaflex were underpowered for sure
  7. Like anything, if you want to get on with people you seemingly need to allow them to have opinions and they should be able to accept if you agree or disagree too. Having said that, if the music becomes politically portrayed that way then no way!
  8. Its a really nice bass and pretty much mint considering the age. Only selling as ive just got a fretless yamaha bb110s to match my fretted one and I don't need 2.
  9. Apparently one of that band did an about turn and is now far left. I remember mistakenly going to my local one night when they were playing, a very hasty retreat was made.
  10. I remember playing one of these once - quite disorienting as I recall.
  11. Yes it would. If your band's not racist, I'm not your bassist. (Not actually a racist)
  12. Hi all Anyone building a P Bass as a project may well be interested in this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/136410388638?itmmeta=01K4827H0686DTRKEVSZ9X7FFW&hash=item1fc2b1589e:g:VBcAAeSwcQ5ouFgg I bought a North West Guitars P Bass neck off this guy and his gear is absolutely top notch. Not cheap but really high quality. Cheers PJ
  13. Excellent! Well done you. Do enjoy. I hope it does all you hope for and more.
  14. G&L L2500s are about the easiest G&Ls to get. I have had one, when I was looking for an M2500 (which are very uncommon)
  15. Thanks all for your help. I've realised it's more than want to take on myself so hopefully Steve Hawker will be able to sort it next week.
  16. Alto Truesonic TS110A active PA speaker - built-in power stage, so no need for a separate amplifier! Just plug in your mixer, decks, or even run your mics in directly. 10" speaker with HF tweeter. 600W peak / 300W RMS. Lightweight Class D power stage for portability; wedge-shaped cabinet means this can be used as a PA speaker or angled floor monitor. Collection preferred; if you're not far from Kingston-upon-Thames, I may be able to drop it off for you.

  17. Not till this Sunday when I pick it up but just got the pics from Alan of my newly built RSK 5/35 and the weekend now can't come quick enough!!
  18. The first time I left a band I tied myself in knots about how to do it. Ultimately I realised that it’s entirely fair to everyone involved to leave a band that’s not working (ideally giving them a bit of notice if there are gigs booked etc.) But really, it happens all the time and life goes on. If it’s polite that’s ideal, but even if it’s not polite it’s still the right thing to do.
  19. A sensible approach might be to make one or two along the lines of what you might offer for sale and then relay it round your favourite BC people to get their thoughts before they are returned to you to consider any improvements suggested. That approach worked for Paul Reed Smith - he drove round to shops and gigs with a pair of his first guitars to drum up interest, but I bet he had several versions before being happy enough to sneak into a Santana show to get him to see one. So - a couple of examples for trusted people to try, then if all is well see if the UK youtubers would be interested in doing a quick video. That's probably the modern equivalent of PRS' approach.
  20. Haha, well worked joke. Same as everyone else here. I couldn’t be in a band with members who have these views. (I do have an acquaintance that bought a Skrewdriver punk 7”, but that was morbid curiosity not race hate.)
  21. Wow 😮
  22. Me too. Proudly so.
  23. Look Morrissey you’ve asked once and the answer is still no 😝
