  1. Past hour
  2. No punk expert here but wasn't it rebelling against certain kinds of establishment "nonsense",like jazz did/does in certain strains.
  3. Unfortunately it's a little wider than the SR5 neck (which is 69.3mm)
  4. It’s a vintage jazz bass thing as far as I know, there will be people on here that can answer in more detail than me but… I think it started as a cost saving measure in the 60s to avoid drilling an extra channel to ground the bridge and then has become more of a vintage correct thing - something along those lines anyway!
  5. Today
  6. I think the HH is a 250 watt Bass Machine combo having googled images
  7. I think it means that jazz music is nonsense for people who don't like nonsense.
  8. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.

Bought a chocolate m-vave to make my M5 giggable with zero hassles or problems. Recommended BC'er
  10. I cheated and used AI to save typing but this is the 'real' rock top ten (in layer years the first side of 2112 became a staple): The "Friday Rock Show" top 10s from the classic Tommy Vance era on BBC Radio 1, consistently featured epic rock anthems like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" (often #1), Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird," Deep Purple's "Child in Time," Rush's "Xanadu," Rainbow's "Stargazer," Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," Genesis's "Supper's Ready," Yes's "Starship Trooper," and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", with slight variations depending on the specific listener poll or broadcast date in the late '70s and early '80s, highlighting progressive and heavy rock. The year that sticks in my mind (because I listened with my first serious girlfriend) was 1982: Led Zeppelin - "Stairway to Heaven" Genesis - "Supper's Ready" Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Free Bird" Rainbow - "Stargazer" Rush - "Xanadu" Deep Purple - "Child in Time" Yes - "Awaken" Deep Purple - "Smoke on the Water" Pink Floyd - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" Rush - "2112"
  11. I have a Honhner Vineta. 48 holes Everywhere will tell you it plays three chords F, C, G. It also plays the root notes as bass tones (two reeds). On 'suck' you get the fifths so (I think) the chords C7, G7, D7. 99% of web sources don't realise this.
  12. Looks like I gonna make my very first visit to bassdirect...
  13. Yesterday
  14. This snippet of a photo from the 1980s of my school band playing in the school's main hall, shows what I assume is mine and my brothers amps. The right one is a guitar amp and obviously some sort of HH. The left one is a bass amp, and MUCH harder. Could be a Carlsboro or something? The think is we both have only extremely vague recollections about these two pieces of gear. Posing on here as predominantly wondering if anyone knows what the bass amp was!
  15. Decent knot-free joinery-grade redwood pine is easily obtained from timber merchants or, tbh, most builders merchants - places like Buildbase and (though I hate their attitude towards small traders) Travis Perkins and Jewsons usually carry very good stuff. Your local independents probably do too, and are more likely to give you a fair price. You can also find good furniture-board. Go for ~21mm thick finished stuff and it ought to be strong yet pretty light. It just dents more easily than oak, beech or birch. It shouldn't split if it has been properly kiln dried and you don't start forcing unpiloted screws in next to cross-cuts.
  16. That's a great selection.
  17. Ok I'll bite. You not liking jazz music makes it nonsense? 😂
  18. Mark was good enough to reply to inform me that since Br**it, that option isn't available. However, he pointed me in the direction of '440 Distribution' who I have contacted via their online form. Mark was most helpful though
  19. Love the signature 'Jaco' bridge pickup sound Guy Bernfield is getting out of that Mode. I'd definitely like to try one out. This is definitely the first truly interesting Ibanez since they originally launched the EHBs.
  20. Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
  21. For an upcoming jam: Birthday - The Beatles Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix Overture - The Who Hideaway - John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers Beck's Bolero - Jeff Beck Cause We've Ended as Lovers - Jeff Beck Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson
