  2. Probably a bit neater too. The ebs is quite a large metallic beast covered in knobs and switches that are easily activated in error...I had to read the manual FFS!
  3. Nice collection, having 30 hours of bass instrumentals in one place is handy for practice and inspiration. Do you have a few standout tracks you would recommend starting with?
  4. ImgBB is a decent replacement for Imgur.
  5. I posted a few (including a scary Wal!). I'll try to find a couple but will need to convert all the photos due to Imgur UK restrictions. It may take some time!
  6. I shouldn't really help the sale as I want this to still be here when I have enough free funds to grab it 😅 but can attest to Andy being a fine chap and this cab sounding monstrous!
  7. £250 plus postage (probably about 12-15 quid, it's quite heavy). Brilliant piece of kit. I used it with various amp modellers and preamps. Sits comfortably on a pedal board and powers cabs of your choosing. Condition is good. There are a couple of superficial marks on it. The fan in this is fairly loud so if you've never heard one It can be quite disconcerting when it fires up! It has double lock stuck on the back at the moment but I can remove and clean if that's a requirement. I'll be sorry to see this go but it's become surplus to requirements and I'm trying to follow my new year's resolution! Thanks for looking, Andy Specifications Product Title: Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 Product Code: 11901-002 General Power: 170 W @ 4 Ohms Channels: 1 Output Impedance: 4-8 Ohms Controls: Bass, Mid, Treble, Level (Master Volume) Level: 0 dB to 47 dB Treble Control: +/- 13 dB @6.61 kHz Mid Control: +/- 13 dB @712 Hz Bass Control: +/- 13 dB @87 Hz Inputs: 1 x 1/4'' Outputs: 1 x 1/4'' Length: 5'' (127 mm) Dimensions Height: 5.24'' (133 mm) Depth: 2.84'' (72 mm) Weight: 0.9kg (2lbs)

  9. If it's just for recording a gig and the mic feed isn't going to be sent to FoH then knock yourself out. Your best choice will be whatever would be used on your rig in the studio, and trust me it's not a kick drum mic. Record both the mic and the DI, and if you have enough tracks/processing power a safety DI direct from the bass too. Whoever is mixing the recording will be able to use the source(s) that sound best for the overall recorded sound
  10. Having removed a fretboard on my own build before (because the fret slots weren't right), it's very easy for something to go wrong. My fretboard came off in chunks and the neck split at one point. If it's a bass you value and you haven't tried this on something expendable first, get it done professionally.

  19. Imo single cut basses sound more stern, less frivolous than double cut basses. As if they heard their retirement age has been pushed back. On one hand they exude an atmosphere of business acumen and accountability, in the other the give the impression of a lesser lust for life, of not letting go at parties. Single cut basses are a lot like a greengrocer's hammer: beware when one is applied in earnest.
  20. Firstly I apologise if this topic has been repeatedly covered over the years. i'm contemplating buying an Ibanez BTB single cut and I just happened to find myself reading several BC posts stretching back to 15 years ago when various members - including Kiwi - gave their candid opinions for and against the single cut design (I wouldn't mind betting the whole Headless bass thing was debated similaly decades ago 😂). I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone who owns or has played one, what they think of it, and especially whether they feel the dynamics of the bass actually add anything of value when it comes down to tone and playability. Your input would help me tremendously With regard aesthetics, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so not wanting to get into a debate as to whether members feel they look ugly or attractive. Thanks in anticipation 🙏👍 P.S. For the sake of clarity I just want to state that I meant Single Cut basses in general - not just Ibanez BTB Single Cut - sorry if I didn't make that clear ☺️
  21. I had a truss rod issue on a bass I'd had a lovely ebony board made for. Tried to remove said board as though it was on a double bass, using steam and gentle prizing, to get at truss rod only to find the "luthier" had glued it on with araldite. Broke the board, damaged the neck planing off the remains of the board, new neck required ....which has been pretty good for the last 35 years, so happy days! And here's a scary thread about someone ( who knew nothing about Wals) repairing two Wal truss rods. He did it tho! https://www.talkbass.com/threads/scary-neck-repairs-two-wal-necks.1616350/#:~:text=He sent the neck to me%2C expecting,to replace the truss rod and fingerboard.

    De-Fret??

Fretless rules. I have a fretted MK2 Wal which I hardly ever play...because I have a fretless and that's what I almost always pick up. Fretless sounds and feels so good. But: two reasons not to mod your bbne2. 1. That's an expensive bass to go modding. I defretted a bass once but it was a plywood jazz copy. 2. Apart from being thro neck the bbne2 appears to have those mother of pearl plates ( forget their name) on the fingerboard. Those would have to go and be filled with matched ebony. Difficult and expensive. A whole new board might be easier...and that might upset the neck stability. On balance if say great idea but not on this one!
