  2. He actually got on stage and played a few songs with a band I’m filling in for next month so I’ve got a little extra bias. Just seems like a top chap.
  3. I never said anything about not paying them - I think artists should support artists. I mean you could quite easily get a group of art students making a video for an AI song to show off their work, and that would be the same thing.

  5. Winona's Big Brown Beaver - Primus
  6. Thank you. Yes, i feel it's a good price for an instrument of this pedigree and versatility
  7. Half Man Half Biscuit - It's cliched to be cynical at Christmas Bob Dylan - Must be Santa (Not sure if this counts as 'obvious' but it's an absolute fever dream)
  8. I'm intrigued when you say that the previous owner had problems with the strings slipping. Where did they slip too? I'm not trying to be snippy, thats a serious question. I've had my Pangborn for a good few years and I don't play it much, although every time I pick it up I wonder why because it is a truly amazing machine. Mine also has the pointy headstock, which makes it a fine looking thing. I read somewhere that a group of the UK builders (Jaydee, Pangborn, Goodfellow etc) in the 70's and 80's were chasing Alembic with multi laminated necks, complex electronics and the shape of the bodies. I've always thought that was quite a good description of what was occuring.

  12. Wanted one for ages, got a B-Stock deal via Reverb. Phenomenal thing, on board pickup; volume/tone arrangement - a tuner and EQ wouldn’t go amiss. sounds great - doubled up on the A and D (middle strings) - 27” scale. When I’m not decorating, I’ll do a decent video.
  13. I notice that the rather tasteful US Spector NS2 'relic' has been marked as sold on Bass Directs website. Lovely bass, I played it breifly a couple of months ago but as usual I couldn't bring myself to part with the large sum of money they wanted for it and now the chance has gone. Did someone on here buy it?
  14. Been eyeing this up for a while. If i can shift my Rickenbacker any time soon id be all over this. Have a bump on me
  15. Funny thing. For years I've been playing a home-made bass with a bartolini MMC and a jazz pickup at the neck. I originally added a jazz to my stingray copy back in the early 2000s, and have used those same electrics for years. Recently though, I came to the realisation that the jazz pickup has never really helped me get the sort of deep woofiness I was looking for as a counterpoint to the growly Bart. I learned to play on a my dad's old EB3, and I have been considering replacing the jazz with a mudbucker, but I've never seen that configuration anywhere. Well anywhere before now. How do you find it?
  16. I first saw/ heard Danny Sapko demonstrating various basses on YT on behalf of Gear4Music. I remember being impressed with his playing, especially because his style of playing actually lets you hear what a bass sounds like. It might sound simple but it's a trick that eludes so many other would-be equipment demos. A four minute double thumping slap and tap fest doesn't really tell me much. And he was wearing proper clothes.
  17. Slightly scaled down…. i don’t know whether to go for the chrome or walnut control plate Thoughts?? I’m thinking chrome as I am just waiting for some chrome pickup rings to come from the USA to tidy up the pickups cavities. I don’t want to fit a normal pick guard and it wouldn’t fit anyway. The neck plate is just on for a test fitting and I will get a new one for it.

  19. My reading of this is if you're just selling stuff you already own to clear it out then it's not subject to tax. Persuading HMRC of that may be a different matter, of course...
  20. I can't find this one on Spotify
  21. Great sounding bass with different tonal options via the switching; series, parallel and single coil - plus able to mix configurations. Plays really nicely and the B string is great sounding. 35" scale length so lots of tone and detail in the lower range. Around 4Kg in weight. Ash body, maple top, maple board. Bought in July of this year and selling as no longer require a 5 string. Courier to be arranged by buyer.
