  1. Past hour
  2. As said already a Tapered B string of the correct gauge (I used 135’s) worked great in making a B that sounded a bit flabby sound a whole lot better. I have a 35” Lakland jazz and the B is fantastic, and a 34.25” Mayones Jabba which again has a great B so I’m not sure scale length alone is everything, but I’ve had several Fender V’s and the B string has never really been “good” on any of them - tapered B string definitely fixed it somewhat, but I generally swerve Fender 5’s - they make fantastic passive 4 string basses, so they’re all I really look at from them now (unless I can play it first)
  3. my last two purchases from them. 1, ordered something, should of been next day delivery, i waited nearly two weeks only to be told they were still waiting for an overdue stock to come in, so they were taking orders of stock they never had. i got a refund and closed my account. that was about 2 years ago. 2, last week i had to go back to them, and ordered a pair of beyer dt770 and a pair of superlux hd660. the beyers were fine as they came in a sealed tab box The superlux though, they sent me a B stock pair with the box torn, inside the box was untidy like it had all been just chucked back in and obvious signs of ware ! they refunded the superlux right away. so, lost faith. thought id try again. and now lost faith for the last time.
  4. Up for sale is an absolutely mint condition Broughton Carina Phaser. I bought it on here a few months ago from the original owner who had only had it out of the box once before putting it up for sale to go towards wedding funds. It's then lived in its box in a drawer at my house ever since, as I really have no need for a Phaser, as much as I love the sound - which is absolutely LUSH! Absolutely brand spanking new, no velcro, original box (which I have labelled with a sharpie as it was just completely blank) £150 + postage, or can meet/be picked up in Ickenham/London.
  5. I’m not sure it looks stock to me. I know that there were a few hardware options open. The control plate is apparently a different size from the standard StingRay so not an easy replacement part to source.
  6. Can’t believe this is still here. Such a great bass to play. Want, but can’t commit. Please help take it off my radar.
  7. For one band I'm in I've given up practicing to the originals... better to rely on my wits.
  8. Spectre - Radiohead
  9. Hi there, Thanks for your messages, Nick's memorial gig was phenomenal, grateful for Grainger guitars and all there support for our family. The weather held out and the everyone rocked there hardest for our big bro 💚🤟🎸 I dropped a couple of notes but managed to get to the end of my song!
  10. Hi, I've seen only a Supernatural in my life... And only recently have I been able to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning an Alembic... So it's quite hard here in Italy to have them side by side
  11. Three old (possibly collectable) books The Ivor Mariants bass guitar method Bass guitar, Shirley Douglas & Chas McDevitt Electric Ladyland song book. £10 for a heap of nostalgia. £12 if posted to UK mainland.

  12. Seconded. I loved my Hohner B2A, it was a full longscale bass but supercompact and easy to carry around. The ergonomics of having the upper strap button behind the 21st fret were a bit weird, but that's easily resolved with a simple mod. Only sold it because I had too many 4-strings and could use the money towards a new car or I would still have it. The Spirit version should be available used within your budget.

  14. Laney RBH800, 300 watt, bought as a beater to leave at a rehearsal space, now surplus to requirements. Works perfectly. Collection or meet up reasonable distance from Norfolk/Suffolk border.

  15. Snap this one up, they're £379 new. 29" scale. I've played mine in a metal band, so yes they are good for metal 😆 https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/snap-dragon-e-bass/
  16. Ghost Of A Chance - Rush
  17. I have a U4 IEM (not using it at the moment as I am using the Lekato setup), and no they don't switch off, which is exactly how I would want it, I don't want something that decides it is going to switch off at any point, it has switched. Of course the only issue on the U4 is the switches are easy to knock on, although that isn't a problem if they are in in the official case (which I got shortly before I stopped using them!)
  18. Be interested how you get on, it is on my list of things to probably end up with for my small pedalboard! Would probably be good if I use a midi switcher to select the patches.
  19. Lovely bass! Was the control plate replaced? I thought control plate and bridge (and tuners) should have the same "colour"?
  20. Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
  21. while I wait for the midi pedal, ive brought a Valeton GP-5. Totally different pedals but I want to give it a try as well. At least I know the midi pedal will work with either.
  22. Again, from the band side... We were a pub covers band and occasionally used deps (drums guitar or sax). We would claim, "Don't worry, we play like the record." Except we didn't always. Some we had changed keys for the vocals, others had slight modifications to the arrangements (four times the starting riff instead of the three on the record etc etc). Once a song has been in your setlist for a while its easy to forget any modifications you have made... Most of the deps handled it all very well.
  23. Brilliant, I’d forgotton what it actually said in forward motion 😄
