  2. That makes sense: sell the item into its home market, and people recognise and favour that brand, and pay a premium for it. An update: I spoke with the seller, and asked him whether the pedalboard was indeed a Midi item. "It's Midi, and it's not Midi". I think that he saw anything with multi-Pin connector, which can be plugged in, as a type of midi. I have put it down as a lack of expertise, rather than willful deception (although he used to run his own music shop, so he should know better). The item is unused - it is New Old Stock - and had a retail price of about £300. Given the above, I am happy to have the item to either resell, or to retrofit with a midi module. (Or even, shove it up in the loft for my children to rediscover when I am dead!) 1. Doepfer midi module https://www.thomann.co.uk/doepfer_mbp25_elektronik.htm 2. 3. Yes, but in a passive system, changing the volume does actually change the EQ, not just the perception of it.
  4. I try to get a balanced, full tone riding on the edge of overdrive so I can did in for a bit of grit. Ideally new Roto 66s but for longevity Fender nickelscthat aren't as bright.
  5. Fair enough. A name pre-dating the Internet, I've no doubt.
  6. So you swap flexibility for predictability, which is a wholly rational choice if that suits your needs.
  7. It will be very evident which frequency range you need to give over for the sake of a clear mix.
  8. That happens this time of year , but in the months leading into Christmas I’ve noticed that things that would have instantly sold , have been sitting. Especially in the US , but to a lesser degree our local market on kijiji as well. Things are unusually slow.
  9. thread hi jack, anybody got a recommendation for an amp with a mid tone control? I find the best way to bring the bass out in a recording is to cut the mids
  10. Gonna Hitchhike Down To Cincinnati And Kick The Sh*t Outta Your Drunk Daddy - Nashville Pussy
  11. Ah ok. I’ll have to take another look at the manual, I don’t recall seeing anything about that
  12. Currently loving the FrankenJazz -> Darkglass Anagram -> Darkglass Microtubes -> Barefaced BB2 Nice bright, slightly gritty sounds with thump
  13. That's the sound of victory.
  14. This is what I ended up with - the turntable sounds great and Mrs Dinger and I are enjoying our vinyl collection again. I had forgotten (or perhaps not realised) how lifelike an LP can sound. Dual 505 > Arcam Alpha 9 > Gale speakers on Atacama stands. And an IKEA "HiFi Rack". It brings me great joy.
  15. No need to get excited, though. I was just pointing out that adjusting any one setting does change the perception of the overall sound, so touching at 'treble' (or whatever...) would naturally lead to touching elsewhere, such as volume, to compensate. The overall sound changes if one changes any single element of that sound. That's all. Peace.
  16. Can’t say it’s the right book but it could be from either of these, maybe, Essential Music Theory for Electric Bass- Mel bay, or Music Theory for the Bass Player-Ariane Cap
  17. Sweet Hitch Hiker - CCR
  18. Not everyone is a gear-junkie here! Weren't there about five or six who haven't bought anything for a whole year? @Mrnace I'm referring to this. Quite a lot of reasonable thinking as well as some beautiful failures there.
  19. Hitch Hike — Marvin Gaye
  20. Roots reissue of the year from the man who wrote See You Later Alligator and was revered, rightly, by The Band and others. Still sealed and therefore unplayed. Yours, UK posted, for £18.
  21. Today
  22. OK, I studied acoustics and electronics in the university. Worked in a broadcasting company. Did a digital audio and video testing handbook to the service personnel in the company with some help from BBC, as well as wrote a short handbook about MPEG-2 in the 90's while very few of you had even heard about audio coding or audio codecs, like MPEG-1 layer 3 (MP3) which is included in the MPEG-2. I may understand sound and perception a little bit, thank you.
  23. By way of update from my diggings you can get knurled tuning gears from Sire, I think for free as they did a bit of a mea culpa for the current designs. Any more impressions from these basses? I just ordered the swamp ash version for a juicy £616 with Bad Shop. It should be here maybe maybe maybe next week. Ander.
  24. I assume he didn't want to be swamped by a million "I told you so's".
  25. Don’t Panic - Coldplay
