  1. Past hour
  2. Not the most exciting but I once bought a 6 string fretless bass on gumtree. When i got it home I realised there was quite a heavy duty strap in the case. I used that strap for years! The bass... think i had it for about 3 weeks!
  3. Gig with the Bonnevilles R&B band at the Foley Arms in Sutton Coldfield. Reasonable stage area and an unused area to the side where we could dump bags and cases. A fair few followers came as well. I'd managed to rip a flap of skin up on my right middle fingertip on Thursday which wasn't ideal. Put paid to any alternating finger work, and to the occasional bit of index finger relief. Had to resort to plectrum for quite a few songs, which reminds me that I left my plectrum holder on the mic stand (the singer supplies his and my mic stands). Had several plasters on standby in case the one I was using fell off (it didn't). Obligatory atmospheric shot by Mrs Zero Sei Flamboyant 5 -> Lekato wireless -> Zoom MS-60B+ -> home made jack-jack lead -> Tecamp Puma 900 -> GR Bass AT212, normal Caravelle memory foam trainers
  4. Wow 👍
  5. I bought a jap jazz from France that had been fitted with some glorious Hepcat 62 pickups. Best I've ever heard. Foolishly returned the Jazz to stock and moved it on because we didn't quite bond. Eventually sold the Hepcats as they were languishing in a parts drawer (i'm a P player these days). I'd love another set but they'd set me back €240 plus import fees... the pups that got away.
  6. Thanks Tony, I suspect I'll do it myself as not only do I like a challenge, but my violin-making friend is not all that keen on double basses taking up a whole lot of space in what is a rather violin-sized workshop
  7. I think I read on this forum that there was a battery checker that you put into your jack socket, or am I dreaming again???
  8. How did I miss that from Penn Elcom? That's sensibly priced as well. Here's the web page https://www.penn-elcom.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Armacab Does this mean that if I brought white I could tint it red ? Rob
  9. My sense is that, much like a Formula 1 car, taking it apart isn't the hardest bit.....? Interestingly I have an old Hofner lying around waiting for the Dr King treatment, hence my interest in your other thread Paul, which I found rather encouraging. Looking forward to seeing it back in one piece 👍
  10. Great bit of kit this and I love mine. You won't be disappointed if you're after some EQ, Gain and Compression. GLWTS lapolpora
  11. Good to see you're selling for a good cause, not because you're down at heel! GLWTS and with your future endeavour.
  12. Darkglass B7K Ultra V2 with original box. In good condition with velcro on underside. £260 posted. Thanks for looking.
  13. Darkglass Alpha Omega, with original box. Good condition with velcro on underside. £160 posted. Thanks for looking.
  14. Lovely bass, are these through body stringing only?
  15. Bought a drive pedal off Dan, fantastic comms throughout and it was delivered promptly in superb packaging. Great bit of kit as well, cheers Dan!
  16. Somethimes when buying secondhand, you get an accessory or two thrown in as a freebie. This week I bought a Fender starcaster bass which was listed as coming with a case. I expected a ratty gigbag, but it actually came with a (very slightly tatty but fully intact) epiphone Jack Casady hard case. Also included was a very nice worn-in Gibson 'modern vintage' black leather strap and a set of schaller strap locks (not copies). The strap goes for £58 new from gibson and might be . I'm not a fan of schaller strap locks and have ordered a set of gotoh fender-style buttons to go on the bass to be used with grolsch-style rubbery strap blocks, but the schallers should be worth the price of a few pints if I sell them. A nice bargain came from Cash converters where my black epiphone vintage pro thunderbird eventually only set me back about £100 once I had sold the humongous heavy duty aluminium flight case that came with it.
  17. Up for sale is a Nordstrand 2B-4C Prewired - Preamp + Volume (Pull Passive) + Blend + Tone + Stacked Bass/Treble. Great preamp, very clear sounding. Runs on 18v. I had this in my mike lull for a year but have recently changed to a slightly different sounding preamp. In great condition. My tech snipped the wires when removing the battery connectors so they would need reattaching, the only other thing that you might need is some double sided tape for the bottom of the circuit board part (forgive me I'm not very technically informed with these things!) These are £150 new, I'm looking for £75 including UK postage.
  18. On a moderate budget, and fairly easy to obtain, I’d recommend the MXR that you highlighted, or the EBS Unichorus. If you want to spend a bit more, or don’t mind importing, the Providence Anadime Bass Chorus (make sure you get the bass version) is amazing, as is the Horrothia Type One.
  19. Bought a vocoder off Paul, super smooth transaction, great comms throughout and it was well packaged and delivered promptly. Lovely bit of kit as well, cheers Paul!
  20. Bought a BK7 from Andy, fantastic comms, pedal turned up promptly in great packaging and it's a fantastic bit of kit in pretty much mint condition. Cheers Andy!
  21. By the late herbie flowers. Set to record
  22. Been enjoying this album. Only became aware of her by accident when a CD I bought mistakenly has one of her albums printed on it as opposed to the one I bought.
  23. Home straight… Bottom block fixed, bass bar reinforced, top going on. Slowly one step at a time. Leave it like this for 24hrs. Finish off tomorrow.
  24. For the record, I didn't remove the top of the guitar, worked from the outside of the ... side with a router (I like the neat work you get with this tool) and a template, then glued the rosace in and that was it. Not that difficult if you work slowly and accurately, Chris.
  25. Ha ha! Dr King is ready for you now… (evil cackle, snap of latex gloves etc)
  26. Give @PaulKing a prod ... he'll get the top off for you in no time at all.
