  3. I think it is a galaxy
  4. Cheers, I messaged Sandberg about a week ago through the website. Not had a response yet but I guess it's a busy time.
  5. I bought a new Lake Placid Blue Fender Vintera bass VI recently, and as I already have a Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI (also LPB) I knew exactly how I wanted to set it up. My plan was to add a shim, put a set of LaBella flawounds, oil the neck and all the little jobs required to make it my own. The bass had been sitting in its gigbag for several weeks whilst I put off this job, but I finally got around to it yesterday and the bass is now perfect. In the process of setting it up and making all the adjustments I used several tools, and I made the tool shown below from the same card as I used for the shim. I used this for a specific task as part of the overall job. I'm sure I'm not the only person to use such a tool, but I don't recall seeing anything similar documented anywhere. The card is about the thickness of a good quality business card and came from the inner packaging of a d'addario micro soundhole tuner I bought for an acoustic guitar. How obvious (or not) is the purpose of this tool? Please post what you think this tool might have been used for.
  6. The latest iteration of my gigging board while I was experimenting with adding a noise gate yesterday. I bought that Donner to prove out the concept and it does the job. I'm not sure what a high-end bass-specific noise gate would give me but am willing to learn. The big change with this board is the addition of a second compressor. I play about 50% of the set with a pick, the other 50% fingerstyle and previously was only ever happy with the compressor for one of the other. I also tried comp off for fingers, comp on for pick and just couldn't get a setting I was happy with. I then mocked up a dual comp patch in the HX Stomp and reached a point where I was happy switching between pick and fingers. If you use 2 comps, you quickly learn that the two "stack" so you need to think about ratio settings. Signal path: Spector with EMGs and LHZ Haz-clone into: Front End: 1. Korg Pitch Black Bass Tuner. Brilliant, accurate like nothing else I've got. 2. [sfx] Microthumpinator v2 I've had one of these on/under my board for about 15 years. 3. Origin Effects Cali76 Bass Compressor (Pick Attack) Switched on for when I'm using a pick. 4. Origin Effects DCX Bass (Sparkle) A tone/EQ-shaper that I've got really attached to. It works nicely with the Spector/LHZ and is always on. The filters on these are very good and allow you to keep your low end intact. 5. Origin Effects DCX Bass (Overdrive) Dirt. These boxes are so good and have such a nice range of drive sounds that it made sense to snap up a bargain when it presented and get another. I love these as dirt pedals, so versatile giving warmth and breakup right through to smooth fuzz that reminds me of the SansAmp DP-3x. Effects Loop 6. Aguilar Chorusaurus v2 (Shimmer) I've been through a lot of Chorus pedals over the last 20 years. This one is the winner. You can see that I use quite a subtle chorus. I use it a lot. 7. Origin Effects Cali76 Bass Compressor (Always On) An utterly marvelous compressor. 8. Noise Gate We'll keep an eye on this and see how it performs in the wild. The board is a D'Addario expanding one and I use a Pedalsnake to run power and signals through the loops. A future addition could be an Emma Discumbobulator v3. We'll see how the set list evolves.
  7. We’ve got another chat going on, however I’ve never seen a scratch like this on a relic bass. The team at Sandberg are really good, they’ve always gone above and beyond in replying to my messages and helping me out. I even got a hand drawn wiring diagram when they couldn’t find a schematic in their file. If you message them then they’ll let you know whether this is part of their relic process. I can confirm that mine has some strategic dents and marks but no surface scratches
  8. Yeah, I guess I'm being a bit precious 😉 it's just the rest of the dings/dents are subtly done, but that scratch is like some 2 year old just picked up a key and attacked it! 😅 I really like the bass, so I'm keeping it - it just niggles a bit I've been sold slightly damaged goods (it was advertised as brand new).
  9. cheers, yea its great little project for someone, to be fair i thought it would of been gone in two days at that price. if no one wants it by tonight i will put it on ebay for 140, its bound to go on there in no time, we will see. cheers again
  10. Have you been able to wirelessly connect any of your usual devices to the external router or direct to the X18 since the problematic gig? Since the wireless connection to the X18 or external router is generally a peer-to-peer rather than a normal network connection I wonder if the network setting have been lost? I would try a wireless connection from a proper computer so you can see the network settings and IP addresses, and then see if these are being carried over to the Android tablet via the ethernet connection.
  11. Sadly all too well, and I have been thinking about that a lot recently!
  12. Feel your pain, Gav - it does kinda tie into the convo re. expensive / more "value" pedals earlier in this thread! Fingers crossed you'll be able to snag one used in due course or if you decide to buy it new it lives up to expectations which, from comments from other owners on this thread, it very well may do!
  13. Up for sale is this very nice Yamaha QY700. This one has a bright upgraded screen, all buttons working and flawless operation. It's also upgraded with a GOTEK drive to store as many sequences as you can throw at it. It's pretty much future-proofed for a good while. A rock solid workhorse, this is a great centrepiece for a DAWLess set up. Only selling as I have another sequencer that's smaller This is a great piece of classic tech. Famously used by Squarepusher. It's a lovely sequencer with a tweakable GM library (but I only use it to drive external gear)- very powerful and solid as a rock timing-wise. Perfect for those who want to get away from screens.

  14. Up for sale is this beautiful 12 bit sampler from around 1988. It's a Roland S550 with 8 separate outs and a top end GOTEK drive (with LCD screen) ready stocked with most of the available sample libraries and several hundred blank floppies. The sound in the video is the classic 'Air' choir. The library runs the full gamut of Roland's offering plus lots of other stuff including drum machines/ synths. acoustic instruments etc It's very powerful with the multiple outs. Monitor included. It's B/W and is essential for running the S550 to its full extent. It's in great nick and includes the original box and a manual etc It's a fantastic piece of gear and sounds very good indeed, but I need to streamline due to lack of space. Apologies for the rubbish pic of the back, it's a bit close to the wall for a wide shot but it looks nice and clean and, most importantly, all the outputs work! 15. I had another mad episode and took on the complete 17:24 bass performance on 'What Goes Around' by the Dave Holland Big Band. Some real challenges but the main thing is the alternating 6:4 and 5:4 bars throughout. I think they lost it at one point and had to adjust but I may be wrong and just lost track of the 'one'. Don't print it off. It is 16 pages long and took me days. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/what-goes-around-dave-holland-big-band/
  16. John Illsley's bass part to the tune 'Down To The Waterline' form the 1978 Dire Straits debut. Not too difficult but one mad fill at the end. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/down-to-the-waterline-dire-straits/
  17. Diary clashes. I'm in 3 gigging bands. 2 of them are with the same guitarist and drummer. It's taken over 2 years but for next year I'm starting to get diary clashes. I go by the gig that's in the diary first is the one that I honour. Even if like the NYE gig, the one I'm missing is paying more. A lot more. Lucky dep!
  18. That's the model I was loaned years ago. Is it a Galaxy ?
  19. Alone Again Or - The Damned
  20. I'm going to say this is the first time someone has complained about marks on a reliced bass 😂 But jokes aside, I do understand that it doesn't quite look like aged wear. However, after a bit of extra playing it should fade into the distance.
  21. Is the plug on your cable genuine Neutrik? There are some truly poor knock-offs about that fit badly. If not, try a real one and see if that improves matters. Those on the amp look genuine. They are good for many thousand insertions (ooer, etc). I've never had one wear out. You might also check the connections in the plugs are good. Just unscrew the locking collar and you'll be able to get inside to check.
  22. Today
  23. Did you buy the amp, cabs and cables together or did you already have the cabs?
