My next adventure with the Monaco is gigging it with my 12-string using a bi-amp patch in a couple of weeks. It sounds great at home but it'll be interesting to hear it at the venue, see what the sound engineer says and hear any reactions. It's a jam night that's attended by quite a lot of gear hounds who always like a nosey at who's using what, so we'll see.

You did what you were paid to do Daryl. That's what professional musicians sometimes have to accept. 😎 As difficult as it must have been, you did it, you got paid. Job done. On to the next one. Dave

MTV - channels being put out of their misery.
prowla replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
As I said, on the radio I switch stations if I don't like something which is playing. (I only listen to the radio in the car.) TV-wise, I mentioned that I used to watch MTV (etc.), but it's been a while. More recently I do record "Later" and other music shows on TV, but then I can skip over things if I want to. On the Hi-Fi, I can choose what I want to listen to when I want to and have some 1500 albums on a shared drive to choose from. -
That's my new stage name, that is. Thank you.

And, by the way...

Because of its genitive form.

I'm a recent convert to Joni Mitchell probably in last 10yrs. She has some beautiful songs including this one. I prefer her "Wild Things Run Fast" era but i'm sure i'll end up listening to more of her earlier albums too. So much talent. With regards simple bass lines, your comment reminded me of my first bass lesson back in mid 70's. Simple times Rob. Dave

Here we have a boxed, hardly used set of schaller M4-90 light tuners / machine heads. 4 in line, Right handed. Box is marked from storage but everything’s there. I’ll consider a deal if you want to also purchase the matching 3D-4 roller bridge I have listed separately here: Currently £79 but out of stock on Thomann. P&P will be around £5 on top. Cheers!

Sky Arts and other music related programmes

Both available on iPlayer as well. I watched Flight 666 a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. The contrast between Dickinson in stage costume performing and in his pilot's uniform doing the pre-flight checks made me chuckle, as did the band playing golf. I still don't like the music, but the programme was good fun. -
Nice production, very well done! Kool!

I don't like big venues; I saw Rush at the O2 on the Clockwork Angels tour and it was honestly a waste of time; I can watch them on a screen in the comfort of my own home and enjoy the experience more. I'm not a Spotify subscriber, but I will look things up on YouTube, though their ads are intrusive and offputtting (I just mute the sound or flip to something else when they appear). Ironically, my most active concert-going period was when I used to download music from Pirate Bay and discover new bands.

How is that any different from a radio or TV music programme? -

I used to like watching MTV on the telly back in the 80s/90s, but it's been a while since I went to any music channel. I don't like subscription services, be they TV or music streaming, so Spotify/Apple/Amazon/Qubuz are not a factor in my life and I don't want someone else "curating" my listening for me. I will switch on to Planet Rock when in the car, but will swap to another station if I don't like what's on. -
The review says it all: comprehensive, US published and hard to find. Price is UK posted, unread condition. Now £16. Times And Seasons - The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Zombies Robin Platts HoZac Books, $31.99 356 pages Classic British pop, expertly chronicled Few books on the Zombies exist, but theirs is a story worth telling. And it's predictable that, given their Stateside star status, this quintessentially English quintet of She's Not There and Tell He No fame should be chronicled on an American imprint. The band only hung up its touring shoes last year after leader/keyboardist Rod Argent's stroke, but the work he and singer Colin Blunstone created after their reunion in 2001 - the years since 1968 being silent, in a Zombies sense - are also covered in detail by author Platts. The band always had a youthful camaraderie, having come together at high school, and that comes over faithfully in this account of their heyday - plus a long tail that details their subsequent musical careers. While Blunstone went solo and Argent created an eponymous prog band (of God Gave Rock And Roll To You fame), guitarist Paul Atkinson went behind the scenes and signed Abba to CBS - a feather in anyone's cap. Detail is forensic without being stifling. If the layout is a trifle fanzine-y, the integration of illustrative material like press cuttings and photos with the text helps make this an easy read. And the urge to play the music, always the sign of a good book, is irresistible.

why is it 4th declension and not 2nd? (btw I'm really interested in this stuff) I quite enjoyed latin at shool, our teacher taught us a lot of proper English grammar

Instead of moaning about how much it costs to see some old dinosaurs in an enormodrome, you could instead go every week end for a year and see some new exciting bands in a small local venue. No need to book tickets months in advance. Most of the time you can rock up on the night and pay your £10 or less to get in. And thanks to Spotify and YouTube you don't even need to take a punt on whether or not you'll like the music, as you can do your research before you choose who to see.
