  1. Past hour
  2. Excellent - can I have first dibs when you move it on?
  3. I had one of these. Bullet proof build quality and particularly good footswitches. GLWTS
  4. Very few session players at our level are being hired for their sound. We are being hired because they like how we play. A studio will have more EQ and "features" than the rest of us put together, so you start with a Precision bass and let the studio sort the rest out. In interviews I've read, A List session guys usually turn up with 5 or 6 basses, Precisions, with flats and with rounds, a Jazz, a Hofner style semi acoustic and maybe a couple of modern basses. The general feed back is, 99% of the time they are asked to play the Precision with flats. Your own band recordings are different. You get to use everything you bought, but sessions want meat and potatoes players, like Sean Hurley, Nathan East and Lee Sklar etc.
  5. That's not my experience with DR strings but YMMV of course. Pure Blues aren't meant to be overly bright so may not be easiest comparison. DR dragon skin plus are coated DR strings so they could be up your street if you like the feel of the brand but are focused on longevity.
  6. Agree Steve, if pushed to take a bass to a session where I either wasn’t familiar with the material, or it was a try out sounds to see what works best I’d take a Jazz.
  7. I gigged a Super P for about 5 yrs and loved it. Just a wonderfully made and exquisite bass to play.
  8. TC Corona Chorus, versatile chorus with the brilliant Toneprint option £50 delivered
  9. My daughter is doing a lot of session playing at the moment and gets by with just a Mexican Fender Jazz. It gets close enough to a precision tone when needed and does a jazz tone so covers most things with one bass.
  10. Thanks - doesn't seem to be any info online? But, if that's the case, that could make it a serious contender with 2 speakers each delivering 600W RMS.
  11. After a music shop chat to a guy, looking to start bass to play sessions, I mentioned the tale of a new player who used a modern bass with lots of features, but found his track had been recreated by another, using a P-bass or Jazz bass. He then got those basses too, just in case. Probably still a good idea, but which to get first and should it be those 3 or just 2?
  12. Pretty sure that's 21Kg.
  13. @Silvia Bluejay won't be at the next Load Of Hay gig but she will be at the one I mentioned and she will be recording it, so that should be very doable.
  14. Last time posted I was looking to build two Basschat 110 cabinets using the speakers from an Ashdown 2x10. Both cabinets are now useable and sound great and I thought that was it for a while, then......... I've been given an old Mesa Boogie 1516 cabinet, that holds 1x15 + 1x10 + 2x6 and a high frequency driver. It's the model with the 3 way switch on the back and a single jack socket. Now there's no way I'm ever going to use this cabinet as is so my thoughts have turned to doing the following, which I'd like to know your thoughts on. The cabinet is actually two distinct enclosures, so I was thinking to remove the smaller drivers and cut the cabinet down to a 1x15 (which I probably still wouldn't have a use for). Build a small enclosure for the 2x6" drivers, along the size of the 110 so I could combine them if needed, and then put the remaining components to one side. I don't want to sell the cabinet as it stands, I was given it for free and feel that it wouldn't be right and anyway once again the tolex is torn and damaged a little. What are your thoughts?

  16. They'd be combined into one mono signal for my amp and FOH, though likely not for the IEMs. If it's not clear the idea is to experiment with a single bass to sound like two basses, where each bass gets a different sound from effects etc.
  17. Love mine. Slotted straight into some 80s synthy goodness. Cuts through the mix. Still love the C4, straight out the box though this is a cracker. IMO.
  18. I’ve not used an amp since these were released. I love mine. If you play through FoH these are amazing. GLWTS
  19. Ampeg PF500/Genz Benz 1 x 15 cab. Downsizing and these are now surplus.I have owned the amp from new and it's been well looked after . No issues and never let me down. These amps are bullet proof! Check specs online,it's loud and punchy with a great range of sounds. The speaker is from the very well regarded American company Genz Benz. It's from the Focus range check online for specs.I recently sold the 4 x 10 version of this and have used them in many live situations over the last 5 years.I will be sad to see this pair go but not getting any younger..Can be tried and tested in Banknock, near Falkirk. Price is the pair but could split. £200 amp/£100 cab
  20. My wireless bass received has two 1/4" TS outputs and I'm thinking of running them each through separate signal paths, then recombining them post-processing into a single mono signal, to emulate two separate basses playing in unison, perfectly or imperfectly. E.g. "Walk on the Wild Side", "I Want You Back", "Black Dog". I read that a y-splitter cable would need radiators to prevent the mono signals backfeeding each other. What equipment would be needed? Is a box doing this already? Can an AB pedal combine?
  21. Absolutely love the look of them just wish I could get on with the neck profile. Seriously amazing looking basses though. Hope it serves you well 🙂
  22. I know a drummer who has used a stage name since the70's, for tax purposes, he says. I'm the shy, retiring type, but I'm happy enough to be introduced at the end of the gig. I do prefer anonymity on the internet though.
  23. The Crook Hotel for us last night in County Durham. It's a great bar venue, small raised area in a window which normally has dining tables during the day becomes the stage area on a night. We put the black backdrops up and front lights truss to create the illusion of a bigger stage. Always a fantastic and very appreciative crowd in here, and we finally got offstage at 11.45 😳 Finally got my voice back after 4 weeks, now thinking I've been victim of the latest Covid variant with a cough that's lasted four weeks coupled with laryngitis symptoms, not exactly ideal 😖 New strings on the Vigier sounded nice though 👌🏼
  24. I think the Neve on the John Taylor 5 sounds absolutely brilliant especially with the master tone control there to tailor (taylor🤪) the overall tone further. Preamp sounds strong/full bodied with no unusable extremes. Dont know the frequencies but wouldn't be surprised if these were kept secret. Unfortunately I haven't owned a Dingwall NG or Combustion to compare it to but Waynesworld on here lives local to me and he has just bought an NG3 five string so I will hopefully be doing a comparison over the coming days. I feel I have been very late to Dingwall but better late than never as these basses are sooooo good!!
  25. Mine us destined to receive holes.
  26. For sale is the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 which has the AUX input as well. Great sounding pedal with amazing ability to sculp both the tone on the preamp side and the distortion on the drive side of the pedal. There is some very impressive sounds that can be had out of this pedal. The pedal comes with the original box and all the goodies that came with it. I bought this pedal 3-4 years ago but the sound is a bit too much for the bands I am in. I was always hoping to use it but it has literally sat in the box the whole time. I had thought I might use it also as an emergency DI for gigs but I have never needed it. Possible pedal trade options would be Origin Effects DCX or IE Frantabit. Possible other option would be towards Bergantino HDN/HD 112 or Mesa Subway 112 cab. If I was playing heavier music this pedal would absolutly be staying. £270, £250 including postage. Bank transfer or PayPal F&F.
