It was inevitable. I wish them well, but suffice to say I won't be going. Living in a world where Rush exist but without Neil Peart still feels pretty weird to me.

“Rush” UK Tour March 2027
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I'm probably being a bit sensitive, but putting Rush as "Rush" (by which I presume you're suggesting it's not really Rush) is a bit odd. Do you therefore think that the first album, containing several songs which feature on their most recent live sets, is not Rush either as Peart wasn't involved? Rush eh? Constantly dividing opinions 🤣 -

The holy trio! Unfortunately not the originals. The WA Mutation II I've had since it came out, the Behringer B-Tron III & Octave Divider have just arrived. Only just had a quick play but I'll do an in depth review later next month when I've spent some time with them. Initial impressions, the Octave Divider can be tamed quite nicely. On the Aguilar Octaver, as much as I like it, I can't get a subtle blend, whereas it seems the Divider can be blended nicely. LF and 'down' on the B-Tron is very nice straight out the box. The Mutation I've had a while and is one of my fav pedals.

Thanks for the tip. The one I used is supposed to be reversible, so hopefully it'll be easy to melt, but I'm no expert.

I would have in person lessons in a way classical instrument players approach it. The system is very successful for a reason. I would also take theory grade exams (as in no-playing, just understanding of theory), and do dedicated jazz studies. I've seen it in many classical instrument players - zero to grade 8 within 5 years of a properly structured programme - and then being ready for conservatoire study if wanted. Grade 8 exceeds 95% of bass work so that would set me up to play most things for the rest of my life. Separating the academics of music from art is a well established way of doing it very efficiently. If I won the lottery I'd quit my job and do it now!

If it came here by Parcel Force it's probably still in transit. Only been 30 odd years!

Wampler Terraform high quality programmable modulation pedal. Info from Wampler - 11 custom designed effects blocks, from Flanger to Phaser, Chorus to U-Vibe, Harmonic Tremolo to Envelope Filter, you know everything about it is going to be perfect. In one incredibly small package, you can control any of the 8 presets via midi, you can assign an expression pedal to control ANY of the main five controls, you can run it in full glorious stereo or keep it in mono... you can even split that mono signal to route some effects to go before your drive pedals, or amp gain, and have the rest follow behind or in your effects loop! When you put the Terraform into your rig, you know that not only will you get that legendary Wampler tone, but you will get the most easy to use, hugely versatile and best sounding collection of modulations you could ever want Photos ASAP-

At rehearsal the cover of Eurythmics Sweet Dreams the bass synth sound (preset 2) went down a treat with the guys. * The octaves sound a lot better (keyboard like) when fingered near the fretboard end (over the truss rod port on my Lakland JO5), so with max string movement. Getting closer to the bridge loses clarity, but I guess that's the same for synth pedals generally. * Playing the Interlude B-E section, octave chords sounded really good. * My pedalboard config generated a lot of unwanted background sound, which the band weren't happy with either. So investigating....

With this being the most popular at launch bass-specific pedals for a long time, I'm surprised how little chat there is on BC about it, given how many of us either have them, or want them, or have already sold theirs! * in Sept 2025, I put up with a 2-month delivery with Thomann, then they pushed out out another 2 months then weren't sure. Luckily in Dec, it turned out Bass Direct had some and they delivered within a day or two. * as, of this post, there are 10 sales in the BC effects classifieds. They are going like hot cakes, even second hand - meaning also that some BCers have reasons to let them go. The thread that announced the pedal here... My first early attempt to generate interest (this will be the second and last - someone else may have better luck 😉, but maybe this might prove useful🤞) https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/521054-mxr-bass-synth-sharing-custom-presets-experiences-tips-settings/

Memory's a funny old thing, innit? I honestly have the world's worst memory for names, faces, facts, lists, situations etc. You name it - I'm crap at remembering it. I even went to a hypnotherapist many years ago in a desperate attempt to improve it... fortunately, I did remember to go😉 but, It didn't help! However, I can remember trivia and... song arrangements (thankfully). To the point: As has already been mentioned, "repetition" is the key! Record your rehearsal and then go through the songs at your leisure, at home. You'll be amazed at how quickly the arrangements will be etched in your brain. Personally, I wouldn't rely on charts - you may find yourself over reliant on them... a kind of psychological crutch. But, use whatever method gets you confidently through the gig.

My KZ ZS10s worked much better last week after buying the foam ear tips from Amazon as recommended on the IEM bible thread. Finally was able to reliably here the kick and certainly a low E - will try them with the five string next week although imagine it will be fine now.

Funny but its become a popular song in our gym with several people of all age groups both male and female singing along. Weird but also good to hear it played. Dave
