  2. 30 presets - of which I'll likely need no more than 5 or 6, but be very handy for quick changes to keep songflow going mid-set. The ability to combine with an expression pedal to e.g. glide in octave up is a very nice to have. Midi could be useful You get to choose 3 presets OR expression pedal from what I understand with the XS-1 But XS-1 plus expression pedal ain't too far off the pedal board acreage of the XS-100, although I may just wait a while and see if one comes up used once the first movers have decided they don't need theirs! Presets do make all the difference for me where you have more than one setting on a pedal you want to use live - the exact same reason for switching from the SY-1 -> SY-200, although the SY-200 does have 50 more built-in sound options than its smaller sibling. I was originally thinking this would be just a (finally!) decent detuning pedal, but already finding I'm wanting to use it in different ways to what I had originally intended.

  5. Our regular open mike has a particular "problem" that is really putting us off going. Basically there is a young lad who plays a piano, sings and composes. He is mostly ok (composing not so good), but not as good as he or his parents think he is. The problem is that people are generally limited to three songs each and stick to that, but by playing with his parents (which is essentially him with some backing), then on his own, and then joining in with some others people have to endure at least 6 songs of his playing, which is just too much.It is noticable that when he is on a lot of audience take a fag/ fresh air break. Three songs would be fine, but this "Playing the system" makes it too much.

  8. Apart from the presets does it actually do more than the XS1 then? Its a shame that they didn't do it like the SY1 and SY200, really my big problem with it is the size - I don't want a foot pedal, so it is a pain having to make enough room to have one - if I could get something the XS1 size with midi, it would be about as perfect as it could be. Maybe they will make an XS50 at some point for people like me!
  9. Squiers and Sires are both inconsistent with weights. If it’s a potential issue, I’d suggest visiting shops with them in store. I believe they have the same scale length and string spacing which are another two key factors in 5 string comfort.

  11. Well of course - can't argue with that but I was really thinking of the kitchen and bedroom level "never gonna make it" songwriters - not your "already made it" Jagger & Richards level. I've done it a only a couple of times doing FAWM but I've never managed to set up a semi regular think with anyone else - on the sit around with a pad and a coupe of guitars - I've been open to it for years but my main musician friend was never been open to any kind of input - I'd share 30s fragments or 2min demos- he only sent me finished songs where there was no point in commenting on anything as it was already too late - I don't think he wanted to expose himself to a situation where you'd see what he was made of creatively - I just thought he was too uptight and precious yet he was a great musician, singer and songwriter - he just didn't want to do it while anyone was watching... and I'm totally different in so many ways... I just wondered if it was even worth hunting the mythical song writing yeti but - it seems a few people here have had some experience of it.

I bought this very well upholstered Gator gig bag (current retail £135) for my Guild Starfire bass, but although it fits, its a bit tighter lengthwise than seems sensible, so this has barely been used. It is fairly obviously sized for a Gibson 335 guitar, but will also fit a flying V or a short-scale bass that's a fraction smaller than a Starfire Loads of padding, loads of pockets and a waterproof cover (in pocket 6 on the back, I think - depends how you count the pockets) The padding at the base of the bag can be removed (its on velcro) to give a couple of cm extra space - the quoted overall internal length is without this extra padding fitted Pickup preferred, but I will post it, although I haven't worked out what that would cost, let me know if you're interested and I'll get a price.   13. The great thing about the audio that comes with this book is that it's mixed with all the bass in one channel and everything else in the other. So you can hear the bass line isolated, or just have the backing to play along with. It's worth the price of admission, just hear the likes of Geddy Lee, John Entwistle, Rocco Prestia and Chuck Rainey, playing Jamerson bass lines.

Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen.   15. Started on page 31, memorizing the V7b9 patterns in situations, then going round the cycle of keys. Good to have a little dissonance in there, and of course the moveable dim7 shape.

  20. I have two used Spector USA bass bridges that once belonged to NS2 basses I no longer own, I had taken these off in favour of black hardware. One is the heavy all-brass version, this has faded somewhat on the bass side. I’m not sure if this could be polished up. The other is the lighter, aluminium version, this one in better condition. It is considerably lighter. Note: these will not drop into a Euro bass without some re-routing to enlarge the space slightly. £150 for each bridge or £285 for the pair. Price includes UK shipping.

  22. I assumed an iPad would have Core Audio already and wouldn’t need a specific driver.
  23. Is there a separate driver you need to download from Behringer? I seem to recall a specific driver is required.
