Thanks for your input, I assume you see these basses for sale week in week out? I am a bit puzzled by your expanded comments as at no point have I indicated that this is the original model (I've had one of those as well) but I'm pretty sure my description of the mag and piezo pups is correct; I certainly didn't mention that that this bass has a drop tuner or an inlaid serial number. In fact nothing in your comment is applicable to my description of this bass, so I'm not sure of their relevance. My comment re. later Ibanez designs based on this design is in fact a reference to all of the later Ergodyne and similar basses... maybe I should have made that 100% clear The only point of possible relevance is that in your opinion it isn't rare. In my opinion it is rare and I'll let potential buyers research and see how many of these they can find for sale today in comparison to basses that certainly aren't rare and they can form their own opinion.

New bass on route from Thomann. Current EU border delays?
tauzero replied to DocTrucker's topic in Bass Guitars
I haven't weighed it - I play sitting down so weight isn't quite so important for me (except when carrying it in and out of venues). It's definitely on the heavy side though. The mod to put the MM pickup in was quite well done but not perfect, and the original MM used was for a narrower string spacing but an Aguilar came up on Ebay for a good price so that got put in instead. -
That means there will be lots of used Helixes coming onto the second hand market not long after these are released. Wonder if they're going to update the Stomp, Stomp XL & POD Go too?

So nice guys. Everything about it is sweet from bass tone to electric piano sound to solid drum fills and that vocalist is sublime. Thanks for sharing with us. Dave

Worse still, I got home and my wife said 'I did wonder why you were practicing on a wednesday', but obviously didn't feel like asking! And I still have two days of work to the weekend -
I might pop down to PMT Leeds over the weekend. Maybe it’s just certain stores that are affected? It’s super sad.

Brilliant, apologies for laughing but it was quite funny and no-one was hurt in the process. Can't say i've been there but i think over the years i've been close but not left the house yet when i realised what day it was. 😂 Dave -

Yep that's what we do when someone is held up with work. Most rehearsal rooms have fixed times usually 6-9 etc so we just do what we can until everyone is present and accounted for. Even just having a blether is a good laugh with us. Dave -
It's more like Herfner. Just pretend they're a Geordie company ...

G&L M2000 in Sunburst Lovely playing bass in excellent condition (see pics). This is a bit different to a standard M2000 as I purchased it last year , with one pickup, 2 pickups installed but only 1 was wired to A 3eq bass preamp from Analogue Workshop, this didnt suit the 2 pickup configuration so I have installed a new Bartolini 2 band EQ preamp It will benifit from some new matching knobs so I have priced it accordlingly Very little fret wear, trus rod working fine and new Ernie ball slinkys Weight is 3.7KG's Price will include delivery to UK addresses

Can anyone recommend some budget (3-400£ used) Precision or PJ basses that are similar to either the classic vibe or Sire line of basses? I am currently waiting for either a sire P5R, P7 or an old classic vibe to come up at a reasonable price but in the meantime would like to explore other options that are of similar quality within that price range

Clarky started following GigRig Supa-Nova 9v to 12v converter for pedals
-
I bought this for my valve preamp which requires 12V and 500mA. Unfortunately I didn't twig that my 500mA T-Rex power supply wouldn't power the preamp as the mA through the GigRig steps down proportionally to 375mA (9/12× 500). In short this device is great for 12V pedals that require 375mA or less ... but not for my preamp! These retail around £70 so how about £40 posted? Urm, urm, this is the reissue of the original 1992~1995 model, which was made in Japan/Switzerland in close collaboration with the late Rolf Spuler (Avalon guitars). This one is a "simplified" version of the original and was made in Indonesia in 2019~2022 after the passing of Rolf Spuler in 2014, without the D-Tuner on the single bridge of the E string, not serial numbered on the front inlay, with different pickups (piezos and magnetic) and preamp, the single bridges are also different from the originals patented by Rolf Spuler. It's certainly, to me, the best designed bass ever, but this model is not as rare as hen's teeth, the original is. GLWYS for this excellent bass.

bass_dinger started following PMT
-
From that helpful link, we see the following: "Immediately following their appointment, the joint administrators concluded a knock-down sale of £2.4 million worth of stock and “certain intangible assets including websites, trademarks, and commercial data,” for £1.2 million to York-based Gear4music, which said it is not acquiring any part of PMT’s trading business, nor any other assets or liabilities, and has no current plans to use the PMT trading name." So, Gear4Music has purchased the PMT stock.

Not great. I loaded the car and headed to the practice place, which is luckily not particularly far. As I drove in their car park was half used for some event, they had a food truck and loads of people sat outside, there was hardly anywhere to park and I was the first there, it was going to be difficult getting the equipment past them. I went to message the guys to say that it looked like it might be an issue and to ask the singer if he had cleared it with the pub owner, then had a sudden though, and looked at my watch. Sadly my watch said Wednesday, which is unfortunate as we practice on thursdays. So I drove home! -
Here we go again... this is a great bass, but the length of it exacerbates my nerve pain, and no matter how incredible the tone is I need something a bit smaller that sits in a different position, like a Music Man. These are Jazz Bass size, with one extra fret, so a touch longer. I think that the magic of this bass is in the pickup, and not the pre amp as some folk have written online. I'm lucky enough to have bought a used pickup, which is pretty amazing as these basses are rare, so I'll be putting it into what ever bass I replace this one with - it has a huge output and sculpted tone. A maximum of 550 of these were made, with 250-275 in silver and the same amount in pink. This is another reason I've been reluctant to let it go; and also why I'm not all desperate to trade it - this advert is just out of curiosity to see if there's anything out there. Made in USA for about 2-3 years, this one from 2019. Weighs approx 9.33lbs / 4.23kg It's in a 9.5/10 condition, with just a few tiny marks on the back. Quatersawn neck, alder body, compound radius fingerboard, Tim Shaw designed pickup, Aguilar OBP-1, BA style bridge.... It's a beast. Comes with the original case and all candy. Trade only - for something with a MM pup in the sweet spot - and as I'll be modding it I'm open to options.
