  1. Past hour
  2. Higher gain at the front end increases the level through the rest of the circuit and gives a better signal to noise ratio. I prefer to run the Gain as high as I can and leave the Master as low as I can get away with.
  3. Always be careful of your following, the amount of times I've realised at a gig that a band I've recently joined have a dodgy follower (singer's wife) or following (singer's entire family)........
  4. John Lee Hooker - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
  5. Dropped to £90 posted.
  6. the cliff burton biog is an interesting read, as is the aforementioned Lemmy, Geddy, flea, duff, and Nile Tony Visconti's book (bowie and the Brooklyn boy is close to the title lol) is really good John Taylor's and Alex James' first book as well as Ronnie James Dio's are all worth reading IMO also I was a teenage sex pistol by Glen Matlock was interesting especially after reading lonely boy by Steve Jones Gene Simmons kiss and make up is well, Gene but I found it interesting that might give you some ideas lol
  7. The band I used to be in, played a regular, well paid gig, in the bar of a 5 star hotel, in Edinburgh. One night we were playing to a, very large and appreciative, crowd of Americans. They were on a trip over to Edinburgh, paid for by the bank they worked for. At the end of the night the President of the bank came up and asked us to play 'one more song'. We told him that the management told us that the curfew was 11pm, for the sake of the residents staying at the hotel. Under no circumstances were we allowed to play after that cut off time. He replied 'Goddarn it, we ARE the residents!!!!'. He had a point.... So we played one more song. The next day we got an email from the management to advise our contract had been terminated 😢
  8. Palm muting can sound even better and more expressive.
  9. Thanks! It is. My photos don’t do the colour justice. I wish I could keep it but I have a 5 string Super P that gets played more.
  10. Bridge mutes can sound awesome for the right song.
  11. Is it right to push gain all straight as long as it doesn't clip? I usually scoop the gain much more than the master and I'm not sure if that is okay. Does it affect to the sound? and if it does, in what way? Thnx in advance.
  12. Now got a Galaxy Rab9+ and I'm at the 'realising how bad my old tablet is' stage... Perhaps it's only good for a photo frame, although I'm trying a few of these apps
  13. I took the covers off my Precision because I played right over the pickup, I didn't like the sound of the foam, it was a hassle to change the strings, and most importantly because John McVie took his off. I was easily influenced in those days!!
  14. After reading through this thread, I decided to buy a TMB30. What a great bass this is for the money! I’ve put Hipshot Ultralites and a Kickass bridge on it, swapped out the 2 volumes for a master tone and 3 way switch, and it’s good to go. Not the lightest bass ever, but it balances fine now with that tuner/bridge combo and I like the chunky neck. Might swap the pickups out at some point but they’re pretty decent…. Will see how it goes at a gig.
  15. We had the same problem with O'Neil's in Richmond. We were very loud on stage and on the dance floor but because of the low ceiling the sound didn't travel to the other end of the pub. The management complained about the lack of volume and in the end put the pub music on in the bar area! We did get rebooked but O'Neil's moved out a year later. O’Neil’s in Harrow was run by a nice woman. She always filled the place, but was fired, fingers in the till! The next guy didn't care and we played to half empty rooms. We got the blame for that and they dropped us. O'Neil's had the right attitude in the beginning. They told us it was their job to get the punters in and it was our job to keep them there. Fair enough but that changed, and the pub managers started asking why we didn't bring a crowd!
  16. I so don’t need this so why do I keep looking at it 😂 It’s a very beautiful thing mate
  17. MINT - like new barely used and all boxed. bought for gear for music in March 2025. You’re basically getting an as-new pedal as it’s hardly been on my pedalboard. £165 posted

  18. Geddy Lee - My ‘Effin Life is a good read 👍
  19. Brandy & Coke — Led Zeppelin
  20. This is a good read. Wine journalist moves to Cuba to learn the double bass. It’s as much a study of the music and culture as it is the bass. https://amzn.eu/d/0dP0zXY
  21. Today
  22. Mine, even with the HAZ-03 units in, don't like the 2.4 GHz wireless NUx bugs.
  23. Ah awesome, that’ll be where I picked that up from then - I’ve never really looked into one before, but have been on the lookout for a Streamer Jazzman 5 which is the same pickup config on a different body shape, will definitely give this some consideration
