  1. Past hour
  2. Nice one. I'm glad you got it sorted.
  3. Dropped off the Stentor this morning. The chap said that the bass is in good condition apart from the bridge, which he assured me will be sorted without the need for a replacement. I've left it at the shop, dropping off a set of Innovation silver slaps when they arrive. When I mentioned rockabilly, there was a slight snort of derision. I told him that I thought he had a ridiculous looking moustache (each to their own). We laughed. All is good 👍
  4. Removed from another project bass I was making. I bought this new. This is a clean and clear Glockenklang preamp. It’s in full working order. https://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/bass_systems/onboard_2-band.htm Volume, Balance, Treble and Bass controls with passive tone circuit activated from Push/Pull volume control. Specs from the Glockenklang website: ‘Onboard preamp 2-band The GLOCKENKLANG 2-band onboard preamp is active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull), has a balance-pot with no volume dip in center-position, a treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical highcut in passive mode and a bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Battery-connection is 9 / 18 volts. Due to the high performance electronic, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode! It comes pre-wired with highflexible cables.‘ £69 plus shipping. Pete
  5. Hey all Bought for a bass that I sold, so never used these. DR Pure Blues 45-130. &nbsp £35 shipped in the UK. Pete
  6. Morning all Up for sale is a set of Squier '77 VMJ pickups. Working perfectly and sound great; I used the bass I got them in for a different build project, so no longer need these. They even come with spring loaded foam, a nice touch. Easy to use for a bitsa build. I'm selling for £27 plus postage. Pete
  7. Revisiting here, I've sanded the finish off the back of the neck. It was just about ok originally, but I'm no fan of high gloss neck finishes; they get a bit fudgy over time. Much better now (well for me). @prowla was over a few days ago and gave it a thumping.
  8. Just installed a set of Cobalts (45-105) on my EBMM Stingray Classic. Really like them and they were brighter than I had expected. Not shrill like stainless rounds and maybe more akin to nickels that have been played a couple of times. Just hope they last longer than standard Slinkys, which in my experience are pretty much dead within a few days. May try a lighter set next time if these hold up OK. Cheers
  9. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/

  10. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. 11. Luxury! Why, when I were a lad ...
  12. Damn, I want this one too..!
  13. Great to play some very Dusty Hill...
  14. My eye (yes, I have two. Don't worry...) was caught by the cool looking lever at the top of the bridge - does this amazingly manly bass have a lever that deploys the string mutes? Bet MusicMan wish they'd thought of that before adding those fiddly tiny metal round screws under the bridges of Classic Stingrays. Seriously impressed by the intonation calibration markings on the bridge as well. If Bang & Olufsen made basses, they would make basses like this.
  15. These are great ! If I didn’t recently purchase the Akai tomcat, I’d have had this . Glwts !
  16. Today
  17. Bought an Aguilar Tone Hammer DI off Ben - couldn’t have been more helpful and even tho I didn’t pay for it till after 4pm he still managed to get it sent out for me so I received it before 1pm the next day as I needed it - deal with him in total confidence
  18. I’ve had the 4 and 5 of these. Marvellous basses.
  19. Correct. Great sounding pickup and a great playing little vintage Fender!
  20. Purchased a set of Lindy Fralin pickups from Walshy the past week. Great comms, super prompt, and no fuss to deal with at all. When a small issue cropped up, he was quick to help and provide a fair solution. Credit to the community as you'd expect. Thanks mate!

  22. As well as the thundering bass line, the demo versions (or at least the stuff they did before getting signed) also feature exactly what you’re referencing. The droning open D, whilst playing a melody on the G - akin to Hooky, Gallup - is all in there…
  23. I definitely favoured those raspy mids and punch low end. I’d love to find this P bass again. Fullerton ‘62 neck on a 70’s body, dimarzio P pup and a pair of 15’s delivered some warm lows too. My secret weapon (not pictured) was a converted HiFi preamplifier with a “loudness” control on it which paired very well with the punchy mids for a BIG tone@
