Emergency amp needed: Advice on options please.

Distance trading regulations mean you don't even need to prove there is a fault. You have 14 days to return the amp for a full refund but you will have to pay postage unless they offer free returns in their ads. Distance trading regulations in the UK are primarily governed by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which replaced the earlier Distance Selling Regulations. These regulations require sellers to provide clear information about goods and services, including cancellation rights, and give consumers a 14-day period to cancel their orders after receiving the goods. which.co.uk autotraderinsight-blog.co.uk Overview of Distance Trading Regulations in the UK Distance trading regulations in the UK are primarily governed by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. These regulations replaced the earlier Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and provide essential rights and obligations for consumers and sellers involved in distance selling. Key Features of the Regulations Consumer Rights Cancellation Period: Consumers have the right to cancel an order for goods within 14 days from the day they receive the goods. For services, the cancellation period starts from the contract formation and lasts 14 days. Delivery: Goods must be delivered within 30 days unless otherwise agreed. Refunds: If a consumer cancels, sellers must issue refunds within 14 days of receiving the cancellation notice. Exceptions to the Regulations Certain contracts are excluded from these regulations, including: Goods and services valued at £42 or less Financial services (e.g., pensions, mortgages) Contracts for the construction of new buildings Regularly supplied food and drink These regulations ensure that consumers are protected when purchasing goods or services at a distance, promoting fair trading practices. which.co.uk Wikipedia -

I’d suggest it’s worth airing any doubts before making a decision, you might find others feel the same & finding nice people might be half the battle? e.g. what changes might it take to keep you interested (for your own future direction & they probably will ask) That said, I’d understand why you might want to cut & run, it sounds like an experience mismatch too difficult to tackle… Taking the “not enjoying it / want to drop into something established” is probably honest & diplomatic enough?

I put a set of GHS flats on my Cort Jazz. Improved the sound a lot.

Over here it was never clear to me how much of the take on the cover the bands actually saw, unless the bar gave complete control of the door to the band. Daryl

The company that operates the AI music generator site may say this, but I don’t think the law is settled yet as to whether they are correct.

I have LaBella Low Tension Flats on my jazz basses. They sound great.

In the UK there are hardly any pubs or bars that charge on the door, especially for cover bands. People just won't pay for it. They will (to an extent) happily pay inflated bar prices though. I guess it's a psychological thing: paying for "nothing" vs. buying a slightly more expensive beer. That's my view playing in a covers band anyway.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Bluewine replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
I wish I had something to contribute to this thread. The fact is we don't rehearse. I wish we did. We play around 65 gigs annually and easily have 4 hours of material. I'm not sure why we don't rehearse. I come from a different background than my bandmates. My background is based in rehearsals and exchanging ideas. This seems foreign to my bandmates. Anyone else here who's band doesn't rehearse ? Daryl -

I'm stealing this topic from Dave. What is an ideal gig for you? Within the Bass Chat community we have different levels of experience age and location differences that can impact what folks think is a great gig. There are some folks and I know some who are what I call " I don't care I just want to play" guys. There's nothing wrong with that,I use to be one of those guys. However at 71 years old I'm not one of those guys anymore. . Share your thoughts. Thanks Daryl

Ok, a quick update to the situation. Thanks everyone for their feedback on Elrick basses. It seems that in the middle of July I accidentaly bought the one from The Gallery 😮 I know, I know, I should be more careful 🤣 So 6 weeks, a few gigs and multiple rehearsals later on I'm quite happy with my little accident! Its light, plays well, balances and works in pop / funk / soul / classic rock scenarios. It may not look as "rock" as a P-bass but really DILLIGAF? Sound wise its got a great, well defined finger style sound but is a little less top end snappy than I usually have but this has taught me a new trick......turn the treble up more....sorted! 🤣 My guess is the Bartolinis are more subdued in the top end and a change to Nordys would help but I'm in no rush to change as I have other basses that can cover that area. Not sure what the strings are on it or how old so when I do change them for a set I know the sound of that might solve the "problem". Picture from the Gallery website:

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...
razor5cl replied to kwmlondon's topic in General Discussion
It is an option I think but I'm not 100% sure. EMG seems to have thousands of wiring diagrams on their website and it seems that in addition to the handful they provide with the pickups there are also other options that they don't tell you about. They do sell an active blend knob I think but I'd have to check. Basically I'm too lazy to check their website, buy the parts, and figure it out myself/take it to my tech 🤣 -

Some relief. I've picked up a Peavey Deltabass head off of our guitarist... and we have bass noises. So relieved my cab is OK as I was beginning to wonder. And, I really quite like it. It's got quite a nice tone, from just a short play. Unfortunately, it's a bit underpowered and could do with a service probably. But as a stop gap it'll do the job. Phew.
