  2. I wonder if Mick Mason and Jon Letts are related..?
  3. Time has come to let go of this great bass rig. Had this for gigs but only got through one before the band had issues again. If I play again will be going to a power amp/modelling pedal and In ear setup as most of the places I can practice are quiet or have cabs available. Head sold ..... Markbass MB58R 104 PURE Bass Cab 4ohm 800watt version This is a light exceptionally portable bass cab With great bass response which is surprising after you have carried it in. Has an adjustable tweeter and is just a great cab. Weight is around 16kg so an easy one person lift. Sounds great is great would keep it but is just taking up spare room space. Featuring four 10" custom designed neodymium speakers housed in a spacious cabinet, it produces articulate tones with a rich. fulfilling bass response. In addition, the 104 PURE boasts a clear high end through a built-in Hi-Fi tweeter. This formidable speaker can handle up to 800 Watts, so you've got ample headroom for those situations where you need plenty of volume. And speaking of situations, the MB58R is easy to get situated thanks to its incredibly light construction! Utilising innovative material for a lighter frame, Markbass have produced a cab that's easy to transport and astonishingly powerful. Crossover Frequency: 3.5 Khz Frequency Response: 40hz to 20khz Sensitivity Db Spl: 103 Db Impedance: 4 Ohms Reflex: Rear 578mm x 600mm x 470mm (£400 on its own but collection only on the cab as wouldn't have a box etc) Any questions feel free to ask. 4. Perceived tone will change with a volume change, that's just in the physiological functioning of human ears. I realise, of course, that some musicians do not seem to have human ears (or, at least, human hearing...). There is no 'magic bullet' that compensates 'automatically' to keep it all 'as one wants it'; some adjustment around the original change is most often required, or acceptance that it's changed, and it's fine. (Disclaimer : I'm a drummer, so what would I know ..?)
  5. Vigier Passion with: - carbon neck - 5 string wide neck (the same spacing as the 4) - 4 string size body - lightweight (as I already own a 4 string Passion, double these with Delta metal fretlesses)
  6. I’ve put two different makers long metal rulers side by side and they didn’t line up to each other (using the cm/mm), something to check if possible.

Very nice! Had an original SB1000 in black for many years when I was gigging in an 80s New Romantic tribute band. Looked (and sounded) the biz & never had any issues with it. Enjoy!!
  8. All those dates are ok for me.
  9. I have a Crimson Guitars notched bass version, not cheap but will do pretty much every bass scale length and is all you'll ever need. Annoyingly I had to round off one of the top corners (near the hanging loop) as it was fouled by the wood behind the nut on my 35" bass: https://www.crimsonguitars.com/products/notched-straight-edge-for-bass You can also make your own notched straight edge out of a regular one or a steel ruler
  10. Open to offers. 👍
  11. Hi all, I have this mint condition fender acoustic bass for sale. I bought it for an unplugged project which never got off the ground. It has never been used, never been gigged. I bought this lovely TGI case to protect it which is thrown in free of charge, I can post it for 20 quid. 👍
  12. I bought a Reunion Blues bag 25 (?) years ago. I remember it being heiniously expensive. I would not change that decision. It has been the absolute bomb. I know that they are no longer available - my point is that if I was shopping again I would go to that end of the market. So much cheaper than getting donks sorted by "my" luthier.
  13. I'm sure the Midlands Bash will be nearly as good. Don't put yourself down 😊
  14. T'other half has a big birthday celebration Easter so very early April is now gone. The Midlands bass bash is June 20th. Sunday April 18th 2026 Sunday April 19th 2026 Saturday April 25th 2026 Sunday April 26th 2026 Saturday May 9th 2026 Sunday May 10th 2026 So last calls with what you can do or can't do. I'll check with the hall to see what is still available but.away tonight. Rob
  15. The weight is 9lb. There is an incomplete database for pre Ernie Ball Musicman and Sabre. This one is not on it but from the serial number, it’s definitely 1979. A couple of additional photos: Regards, David
  16. @peterjam - If the Midlands Bash doesn't work for you, then get along to this one. I'm sure it will be nearly as good
  17. Let's put it this way: 1) I want to change volume and volume only. Not tone. 2) I want to change treble and keep it that way, no matter at which volume, or blend setting. List goes on. If any adjustment affects other adjustments, it does not work right. Tonal flexibility means that I can rely on what is happening when I dial my sound from the bass. Would you buy a mixer where changes in level and balance make changes to the equalizer? [If "passive" means £5 parts (excluding pickups), and "active" means £10 tone stack and a £2 battery holder to the bass, me want more. A. Jackson removed all sound degrading components between the pickup and the studio board for reason.]
  18. This is the MXR Bass preamp. Super clean sound that allows you to the deliver a crystal clear DI (via XLR) as well as the standard TRS output. It doesn't have a baked in sound like may preamps but does have a really nice EQ with a sweepable mid control but it wont massively alter your tone. I used this with my HX Stomp to avoid the reported issues with XLR and Phantom power (The MXR can be powered by Phantom power I believe). The XLR can be set pre EQ which is great as it allowed me to tweak the EQ from my board without impacting the DI signal. There are a few chips in the paint but otherwise its in perfect working order, any questions let me know.
  19. Or not... 'Tis a musing on whether it's best to be eternally just comfortable, or to venture frequently outside your comfort-zone. Bass is my trusty Wal, with a spot of guitar (strat), Rhodes plug-in, drums programmed in EZ Drummer using Clyde Stubblefield Phat Kit, trombone is stuff recorded many moons ago for a previous compocompo by my old m8 Nick - I've taken some liberties with everything as it's all cut up to within an inch of its life then smothered in Quadraverb, Objeq Delay, Temperence Reverb or Dubstation apart from bass which is a single take improv from which it all stemmed... Track has a good coating of Bassroom, Mixroom and Ozone 9.
  20. Aye, it would be good to get this pinned down, in case of any further pesky gigs entering the calendar. To reiterate, I can do the following: Saturday April 25th 2026 Sunday April 26th 2026 Saturday May 9th 2026 Sunday May 10th 2026 Sunday May 17th 2026 At a push I could do April 19th - got a gig on the 17th so it's theoretically doable. Also, because it's looking like this will be the only bash I can attend this year (gigs have nixed all the others ), I will bring the entire kit and kaboodle. It's only just down the road, lol.
  21. Good afternoon ! And again: Happy new year 2026 ! i took opportunity from holidays to finish my backlog transcriptions and add tablatures parts on it. So here are the five remaining ones; beautiful melodies and themes. John Mc LAUGHLIN - Healing hands Exrtact from "the heart of things" album which is one of my favourite, and in my playing list since 1997. At this time i was guitarist, fascinated by jazzrock. I was not conscious about Matt Garrison on bass who was put down foundations for a lot of actual modern bassists playing. So i re-discovered it later with a bassist POV and it's a big inspiration source to me. And here is one of my favorite complex themes from this album.
