OK.... the two-day installation of the "Bird Scarer" started yesterday... It is an instrument which has been built by a bespoke builder for me... It won't be fully functional until after we've installed all the electronics etc today. I will post more later, but here's a teaser...

Congrats Mark. Having held this bass and played it a little (albeit in a supermarket car park!), I can attest to it being a beauty. These are getting very rare now and are a special part of 90's British Bass Making history. Enjoy!

In my area (S. Wales) there are a few Facebook groups along the lines of 'Seeking band members' and that's how I found my last two side projects.
-
Right. I think I've figured out what these are now. The base instruments were by BaCH in the Czech Republic. Ox Bird is a luthier from Poland who specialises in customising basses.

franzbassist started following Ethernet cable I can use at a gig
-
My new GR Bass Dual head has a footswitch that uses an ethernet cable. My experience of these cables is they likely aren't very suitable for lying on a stage floor; they're won't lose their coil or lie flat, and will stay a trip hazard as a result. Anyone know of any ethernet cables that are more like a guitar lead, so suitable for life on the floor of a stage? Or maybe I should invest in something like this instead?

There's truth in @BabyBlueSound point re opening people's eyes to the fact that fakery is wrong, but the almost hysterical and fever-pitched responses from what is starting to feel like a baying mob are unedifying and I suspect in many cases are at least a little hypocritical. OK, the guy's a con artist, he's not the first in music and he won't be the last. Jeez imagine if the internet had been around when these guys were doing their thing......

Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.

I've had these a while, using them in various amps with valve preamp stages, but my move away from such amps means they are now surplus: Mullard ECC83 - code B6B3 means made in Blackburn, third week of February in either 1956, 1966 or 1976 = £50 Mullard ECC83 - (code backward3)91 means made in Chelmsford for Mullard by Marconi, but not sure how to date the rest = £50 Mullard ECC81 - no code that I can see = £25 Caveat Emptor: I have tested them in my Demeter amp and they are all working fine at time of writing, but as always with old valves be aware they can fail at any time. Please do bear that in mind before you buy.

My advice is to get out there in the real world. Open-mics, jam nights, local gigs. Talk to strangers. Offer your services to solo performers. Let people know that you’re looking for a band opportunity. Good luck!
