MarkBass Little Mark IV and MB58R 102P cabs
simonlittle replied to BassAdder60's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use one of the MB58R heads (basically the same thing) with a MB58R 102 Energy cab (8ohm) for most of my gigs. Always sounds great with electric or upright bass. Loads of volume and sounds fantastic. Have used it with big bands and barely turned it up halfway. I do have a second cab (a 104 Energy) in case I need a bigger setup but I’ve never actually needed it so far. It’s a really good combination and ridiculously lightweight… -

Non serious rattle = barrel of jack plug in pickup is loose. Medium rattle = tuners, end pin. Slightly serious rattle = seam needs glueing and clamping Serious rattle = something loose inside and the front needs to come off. Value ... maybe £800 at a dealer, with no rattles and decent strings; significantly less as a private sale ...but £275 is not a bad price....if you like it.

I have a challenging start to the day - woke up late having been unwell in the night. Then 'ForScore' refused to sync the music for this mornings' service so I had to print out the new tunes. For bonus fun, our MD had a new tune which I got to see only with five minutes before the service started. But it all went well and once the service started everything dropped into place. The hymns were: As the Deer Pants for Water When I Needed a Neighbour Behold the Lamb How Can I Keep From Singing All have decent bass parts, but I'm particularly fond of How Can I Keep From Singing

My really nice Yamaha Passive BBN4 lll Fretless Bass with a solid Alder body, Maple neck & a beautifully figured Slab Rosewood lined fingerboard, plays like the proverbial dream and sounds great with oodles of mwoarrrrr. In excellent condition with just a few tiny light play marks, which are purely aesthetic & for a 20 + year old Bass, I would describe the overall condition as excellent. Suitable for either the seasoned Fretless player, or due to the low action and fret lines this would be excellent for a beginner or an inexpensive way to try a Fretless if you’ve always fancied one, but didn’t want to spend a lot of your Great British pounds in case Fretless is not for you. Set up really nicely with a low action all the way up the neck, a lovely rich ‘woody’ sound & the bridge pickup provides instant Jaco when required. New KiOgen Professional Loom fitted with Bourne Pots & Switchcraft Barrel Jack Socket. Nice and light at 3.7kg or a tad over 8lbs in ‘old money’ according to my digital scales. The Fret lines thankfully extend over the sides of the fingerboard making intonation a doddle, even for an old duffer like me. In excellent condition, with just a few play wear marks / small indents but nothing serious. Collection welcome, or postage to the U.K. Mainland only via fully insured 24 hour delivery at cost price to the buyer. Specifications Solid Alder Body Maple Neck Lovely Figured Rosewood Slab lined Fretless fingerboard Yamaha Soap Bar neck & bridge pickups with individual volume and Master tone controls. La Bella Nylon coated Flat wound strings fitted to protect the fingerboard. 38mm nut width, so very Jazz - esque + nice and shallow front to back, so very easy & comfortable to play. New KiOgen Loom fitted with Bourne pots & Switchcraft Jack. New Fender padded Gig bag included. Any questions, please give me a shout.

Explain PA setups to me like I'm an idiot
Steve Browning replied to proy900's topic in PA set up and use
Absolutely. I would certainly assist if the OP is in my part of the world. I think @Beedster asked where they were for this reason. -

The USA Fenders did improve from 2012. Japan’s reputation has been consistently high since it started with the JV series.

Following. That's a great looking, tasteful instrument and no doubt it sounds and plays as well as it looks. An excellent tribute.

Great private party gig last night celebrating a 40th and an 80th so wide age range watching. Outdoors in the garden of one of the local farmhouses and all up for a good time. Only the 5th gig of the new band but they liked us so much that they paid us more than the agreed going rate. Same happened last at last gig so we must be doing something right. First outing of my s-s Sandberg Cali since new Aguilar pickup set fitted. Much more heft that OE pups. Didn't realise just how much in fact. No need to engage the 'deep' button on my Mesa D800+ from now on methinks. So nice to see all the old folks having such a good time. That includes me btw 🙂

One of our own - haven't recorded it yet but it's essentially a 12 bar blues with a couple odd turn arounds added for interest. We also do a walking bassline on the chorus of the old classic "You are mighty".

If you're playing old hymns then they're written for an organ, so long low notes are just fine. Weird problem with my IEMs today, just making party flappy noises anything lower than the open D. Swapped the IEM amp and phones but same problem. I gave up and just listed to the room, as it sounded great out front.

Hey folks I’m interested in anyone who is familiar with or using / have used the MarkBass LM IV amp and MB58R 102P cab ? Do they match well and would they handle jam sessions / gigs ? with a single guitarist and drummer ? I had years back the LM III and the Traveller 102 cab and they sounded nice. I like how light they are in the MBR 102P series and compact
