  1. Past hour
  2. Now yours for just £180. I was so expecting to get on with this amp that I binned the box. However, all the rest of the bits are here, including the posh little bag, UK mains plug, sticker and manual on a CD-ROM. This bite-sized bass amp has been used precisely twice, for less than an hour in total. I just didn't like the constant fan noise, which apparently is a feature not a fault. Would be fine for playing with other musicians I guess, and everyone seems to love these amps, but my main use case was (quiet) solo home practice and it's too noisy. Don't make the same mistake! Full skinny here: https://peavey.com/product/trace-elliot-elf-ultra-compact-bass-amplifier/ Pick up from Hove or UK postage at cost guess I'll cover the postage, then. Hit me with your vexed questions.
  3. Ah OK. Could you please edit the title to add the word “sold” so that it auto-locks the thread. Thank you.
  4. Anything with the Sadowsky preamp in - and for extra top end sizzle Dimarzio Jazz Ultra or Bartolini B-Axis pickups 😮‍💨 🔥
  5. The Anaconda is night and day better than a standard Sire V5/V7 - and I’m a fan of Sires too, they’re my favourite ‘budget’ bass by a long shot, but I’ve owned about 6 Sire jazz basses (not a V9 or V10 - they may be closer to Anaconda standard) and I’ve just bought an Anaconda and the difference is massive. The Anaconda is up there in quality with the Lakland Skyline’s whereas a Sire quite noticeably isn’t - there’s nothing wrong with them for the money you pay, but the Anaconda is a big step up. Also the Sire preamp is pretty poor and notoriously unreliable, but I suppose the perception of value is subjective and YMMV etc, for me I’d be looking at Anaconda’s along with Fender Japan/US, Lakland and Sandberg etc in terms of build quality, hardware and sound
  6. I needed a 5 string for an audition once and picked up a nearly new sterling ray5 from fb. Managed to sell it later that month (fb again), went within days and with a £50 profit to boot! So from my (albeit limited) experience I’d say not a problem at all!
  7. Just downloaded this app to use on a Windows 11 laptop. No problems with the installation, it recognised my soundcard and all appears to be working well. Not recommending it, not slagging it off, not sure if it is aimed purely or mostly at our guitar playing brethren. Only had 15 minutes playing around but looking good so far. Interested in what we all think of it ???
  8. I can personally confirm that a 4 string Euro tuned down to C# is a thing of utter brutal perfection. They should come with this tuning from the factory 😆
  9. The Old Time Sailors made my stomach turn the first time I laid eyes on them. I feel vindicated.
  10. So after a night of messing around it’s likely going to end up as this. But I need to play around with it all a lot more before I commit anything to velcro. I figure the zvex and kasleder can just be fun pedals I stick in front of the board running batteries as and when I feel like it.
  11. Correct I’m currently borrowing it from @Ant_On_Bass as I had some ideas I wanted to try.
  12. I bought a similar item on 3 separate occasions on Ebay. The first 2 times it arrived in a couple of days. The 3rd time was for a birthday, and yes you're probably already ahead of me... the courier that shows it being "handled" in the same depot for 4 days running is...
  13. So it seems that I'm the first customer of the new Goodwood cab and I'm very happy with it so far. I've got it to pair with my GSS baby sumo and line 6 helix lt as I've been after a very transparent clear sound that I can colour as much as I like depending on my mood or who I'm playing with. For my needs the Goodwood seems a very good fit, it would appear loud enough for a jam with a loud drummer (I don't play live on the regular and when I do it's seems to always be through FOH or pa these days), you very much get out what you put in so my jazz had a lovely slap sound (not that I play that style much but it's there) and good funk vibes. My pj with tapewounds could be lovely and warm. As for the low b it handled that with ease so no issues there. With a the sounds I tried what stands out is the clarity of sound. I just sold my GK mb500 with matching cx 210 can that set up was loud and bassy but compared this I would describe it as muddy. Now I like muddy and loved it from a epiphone thunderbird pro I used have but the reason I've gone down the road is I want to chose the sound and have lots of variety without lots of gear although gas may have a part to play. An extra bonus is it sounded great playing some blues on my gretch 6 string semi acoustic so 1 rig to rule them all. Amazing what you get out of a small easy to transport small package. One thing to mention is I would say in the flesh the blue is much darker that it seems in photos which I like and to me makes it look more premium. The cover is top quality to 👍 Stevie has been a pleasure to deal with plus 20% off definitely sweetened the deal 😁
  14. I did suggest they do a headless bass, but that fell on deaf ears.
  15. While practising with Positive Grid Spark NEO wireless headphones, I noticed a twittering (for want of a better term) from my Sei Flamboyant when it was in active mode. It stopped when in passive mode. None of my other active basses did the same, and when I used a wireless dongle plugged into the headphones and the Sei, it went away. The preamp is a Delano Sonar 3 - I have a Delano Sonar 2 in the Sei fretless which didn't do the same thing. Battery was showing 8.75V when the bass was switched on - not 9V but should be enough, and anyway I haven't got a spare battery (got some on the way now though). I wondered it there might be some strange issue with the jack socket, which fortunately isn't a barrel type, so I extracted it and the battery negative wire immediately fell off the ring terminal. Looks as if it was either fatigued or had been stripped rather too carelessly and only held on with a couple of cores. Stripping and resoldering the wire solved the problem. My conclusion about what had happened is that the dodgy wire was presenting a certain amount of resistance to the 0V line and therefore reducing the effective battery voltage. Why it only showed up on the Spark NEO dongle is another question - possibly it's a low impedance and consequently a higher current draw for the preamp, but that's just a wild guess. Obviously a low battery is the most likely cause of low battery issues, but this does show another possible (albeit unlikely) cause.
  16. Well, it doesn't change much other than the length, you still have the 4/5 string issue. Is the new band just C#? I joined a new band that does a lot of metal and they are all in different tunings, the 5 is essential for that. I use a drop D bass for 3 songs and a standard 5 for songs in E, Eb, C#, C and B, and then have to downtune, because someone always wants one song in A!
  17. Nice bass. Yes unlike their 4-string counterparts the necks on the Fender 5-string P and J bass have identical dimensions.

  19. Price drop - £135 includes UK postage Hi, I’m selling my Darkglass B3K. Well looked after and sounds great. I’m just not using it anymore. £160 price includes UK Postage. Here’s some info from Darkglass: An intuitive format that contains brutality and clarity at the same time is what the B3K delivers. A defined and powerful overdrive, with a simple layout, it sets no boundaries or rules to unleashing the desired tone. Blend Mixes the clean input signal with the overdriven signal. The clean signal remains at unity gain while the volume of the overdriven signal is set by the Level knob, allowing for fine control of the blend ratio. Tone Controls the high frequency content of the sound. A variable low pass filter from 3kHz (ccw) to 8kHz (cw). Level Sets the volume of the overdriven signal. Drive Sets the amount of saturation in the overdriven signal. Grunt When engaged provides a massive low end boost to really thicken your sound. Mid Boost Gives a subtle 6dB boost from 300 Hz to 1kHz to help you cut through a bit more. Output Connect from the ¼” Output jack to the input of your amplifier or another effects pedal. Input Connect your instrument or output from your pedal board to the ¼” mono jack. 9V DC Only use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug. Dimensions Width: 75 mm / 3″ Length: 111 mm/ 4¼″ Height: 43 mm / 1¾″ Weight: 250 g / 0.55 lb Warning The Microtubes B3K has a current draw of 20mA. Only use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug. Unregulated power supplies and/or higher voltages may result in suboptimal noise performance and even damage your unit, voiding the warranty. Thanks, Michael
  20. Yeah - but they aren't allowed the internet in prison.
  21. Price drop - £155 includes UK postage Hi, I’m selling my Aguilar Octamizer version 2. Well looked after and very little use. £185 price includes UK Postage. Here’s a bit of info from Aguilar: AN ALL-ANALOG OCTAVE PEDAL THAT CREATES A WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL SOUNDS AN OCTAVE BELOW YOUR BASS SIGNAL. Modeled with old school and new school needs in mind, the Octamizer features independent volume controls for both the Clean and Octave sounds. This makes dialing in the exact amount of each a cinch. The two discrete signal paths also have their own tone controls that were specifically designed to enhance and expand their musical possibilities. The CLEAN TONE control uses a full spectrum tilt EQ, allowing for the boosting of treble while cutting bass or boosting of bass while cutting treble. This unique circuit allows you to create a clean sound that creates an octave doubling effect or to blend the sounds together for a great thick, snarky synth tone. *Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Proprietary detector circuit for superior tracking Continuously variable multipole low-pass filter for Octave sound Dual filter architecture Full spectrum tilt EQ for clean sound Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Cheers! Michael
  22. Hi, I’m looking to sell my Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V in black with maple neck and abalone block inlays. The controls are volume, blend, active 3 band eq, passive tone control and an active/passive switch. It takes two 9V batteries. These basses are my favourites, but I bought this as a back up for my tour rig. I currently have three of them and this one just isn’t being used really. The bass weighs approximately 4.4kg I bought this bass from Basschat in January 2024. It’s been played and toured by its previous owner and has always been fantastic and reliable whilst I’ve had it. I’ve taken it on two tours last year as a back up and have played it on a handful of shows. It’s been looked after by myself and the previous owner. There’s a couple of dings and chips on the body which I’ve attempted to photograph. I can provide more photos. It comes with the original black pickguard (I’ve placed this over the top in some of the photos) and a dark tortoise shell one which I bought to replace it because I like how they look. It also comes with the original Fender strap locks. The original Fender case has a big crack in one of the corners so I’ve replaced it with this Stagg Hardcase. If you wanted the original you can have that instead though. I’m based in Birmingham but can provide postage and packaging at the buyers expense. Thanks for looking! Michael.
  23. Martin have a new short-scale acoustic bass, the 000C Junior. They're actually guitar scale (24.9"), but sound very full and play like an electric. No 5-string yet, although I am trying to persuade them. DISCLAIMER: I work for Martin. But I don't get anything extra for pimping their stuff on websites.
  24. Apologies, I seem to have posted this in the wrong forum and can't figure out where to delete this post....
