The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
fretmeister replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
La Bella Super Polished Strings arrived... and the E snapped during installation. Not La Bella's fault as I was trying to fit them on a shortie and their website does warn against winding the speaking part of the string around the post, although this is the first set of flats of any brand that I've had break doing this with large traditional post sizes - even their DTF are fine. The IAH set are fine too for this. I did contact BD to see if I could buy just a replacement E string, but they don't stock individuals and getting one from La Bella would take about 6 - 8 weeks. I've put the old strings back on instead. Just annoyed that I've thrown away £35. Hopefully La Bella will get some shortscale ones made at some point. -

I have a 6 string fretless Dean Edge as my main bass and I must say its fantastic! Its from around 2006-2009 (those years are a little hazy...) The original model was black but I brought it from my friend after he swapped the necks on the two that he had because he thought the pickups would work better thay way round and he wasn't wrong. So mine is red with emg-hz pickups Neck is smooth and flat, very easy to play and sounds great DI, or amplified alone or with effects. For their price now, you can't go wrong!

Yes that's right. This is the bass in question It has fret markers on the side at every fret which is madness because they're all single dots, the same size -

I don’t think I can ever watch that show again after they murdered that old Jazz bass. -
I just have the one ric - well, 2 but one is a 5. So are they all the BT-5? I asked BTN music who until recently had one, but no such luck. At the moment it is not too bad as I am only using it in drop D, so I take a 5 string and the ric drop D'd, but it would be handy,

You pointed that out to me a few months ago and I immediately passed it on to Andras who will send me the updated one. It’s a minor omission rather than a wholesale change which is why it got missed for so long. Also, much of the base internal structure is the same as it was from 2015.

If you paid by credit card you’re protected but I’m sure it won’t come to that Their address is very vague ?? No unit number street or postcode I would expect more from a manufacture unless it’s early stages of setting up new place ? -
Good looking, but a pricey unit.

Phil Jones Bighead Pro HA2 for sale. Bought from new from Bassdirect and had it about a year I think. Looking for £200 £180 £165. I'm based in Cambridge. Here is some detail about the unit plus a photo or two and a link to a Youtube video. Mobile High Performance Multi-Function Headphone Amplifier/Digital Audio Interface The HA-2 is the second model in the Bighead series and is a step up model of the popular HA-1 Bighead with added technology and features. The HA-2 is a high resolution USB audio interface that supports PCM playback with up to 384 KHz sample rate/24 bit resolution. On DSD playback, sample rates of 2.822MHzand 5.644 MHz are supported, making it the ideal choice for musicians and engineers that desire high performance and the purest sound quality. It is a rechargeable lithium ion dynamo that is ideal for use in practice or recording situations. It also functions as a headphone booster amp as well as a preamp to drive powered amplifiers. The HA-2 has both passive and active instrument inputs with a 2 band EQ that is ideal for guitar and bass, yet versatile enough for use with other instruments. I have been lucky enough to be able to play all sorts of instruments in my life. Fretless bass is one of my absolute favourites closely followed by alto sax.
-
Played it again today. The frets HAVE TO GO!!!! Gonna talk with Luthier on ‘phone with a view to taking it in for him to see the work involved and getting a quote, but they are coming off one way or another!

When you do have the time to do this can the Algorithm Block Diagram on page 99 be updated, as it is now over 10 years out of date and from what I see in the editor program, the architecture has completely changed since the version in the manual was drawn up.

MNY started following Jaydee Supernatural Roadie 1 fretless bass - 1986.

Make no mistake this bass is absolutely magnificent. Bought very recently on a whim, I have to admit that fretless basses are not for me as the possibility of intonating correctly whilst trying to cope with recently diagnosed hearing damage which is unfortunately permanent, is highly unlikely. I believe the instrument was originally made in 1986 and was refinished completely by Jaydee not long ago as it was in bad shape cosmetically. It pretty much looks like a NOS instrument now with no visible marks except for a few light scuffs on the control plate. The bass plays very well with the typical fretless mwah that one would expect. It sits around the 9 pound mark so isn’t at all heavy and balances well on a decent strap. I have searched around and I can’t find many of these for sale, even if there were I doubt you would find anything so pristine. It comes with a Thomann hard case which is functional but since I have no packaging collection in person or a meet up is the best option should you want to adopt this lovely thing. I would prefer a straight sale, however a Wilcock Mullarkey, Serek Midwestern or a nice lightweight 5 string might be tempting. Thank you.

Ill just run this up the flag pole so we can all take a top down view and see what actions drop out of it. People who use management speak are generally people with no interests outside of work (golf doesn't count). They're not blue sky thinking and onboarding all day and then going rock climbing, car racing, dogging or bass playing. They go home to their life partner who is exactly the same and spend all evening working. Weekends, they might go to a cafe to work, or just for a treat, go golfing with the head of global PR and talk about marketing strategies. They've never pretended to be a rock star in front of five disinterested people like we do.
