Fenderfever has a sale on with some decent reductions
Linus27 replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
I also bought a lovely bass this year from Fender Fever and I echo the comments directly above. Transaction was easy and the bass came well packaged and the setup was amazing. I'd also contacted them on another subject to enquire about getting me a bass and I had a super quick and helpful reply back. I would happily without hesitation buy from Fender Fever again. -
nekomatic started following Double bass in a Vauxhall Corsa??

Is it likely to fit? Asking for mrs nekomatic who has booked a bassist for an orchestra gig this afternoon and trying to figure out who they can get a lift with… Dunno what the bass is but it’s a 2011 Corsa!

One from earlier in this year at the regular Monday Night Jam I go to. Having fun grooving to the Ceelo Green/Live at Darryl’s House version of I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do). Can you tell I love my new Sandberg? -
"had to modify my pedalboard yet again" pretty much the mantra of this thread 😊.

Aesthetics aside, (always going to be naysayers who waffle on about board woods and 'prawn' headstock inlay etc.), the modern version is easier to navigate controls on a gig. The parametric mid-control on the 2018s works really well and those pickups sound great to my ears. The 77s have the mojo (whatever that might actually be?), and the Moog circuitry, which give them a possible sound, not available without using pedals on the 2018 model. Both models weigh a hefty 11.5/12lbs, so not for those with back issues I'd imagine. The frets on the newer models are wider and slightly higher than those on the 70s and the headstock, being smaller, makes finding a gig-bag (to reduce schlep-grief) that bit easier. I'd happily recommend either model, with the caveat of the need to buy a crane.

Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation

Very nicely put Gav! Particularly like that final para, albeit the VTDI is £250 not £99, but that's splitting hairs on the philosophical point. Hope you manage to land one used in due course. -

That is exactly what I did yesterday. I took the amp out from the pedal into an active DI and straight into the PA. Switching between the pedal Di out and the pedal amp out there was no difference. -

I always cut the string at 75mm past the post and that gives me 2-3 turns and I always wind towards the bottom. I also bend a kink in the string and cut as tight as possible to that while keeping it. I was taught that this reduces the chance of the core slipping inside the string. I don't know whether its necessary but its never caused me issues. I generally change my strings about every 3 months to keep them bright.

Nice. What differences do you note between older and newer?

Akai E2 Headrush delay/looper - Price drop - £70 posted
iamtheelvy replied to iamtheelvy's topic in Effects For Sale
Remarkable lack of interest on this classic on both here and the ‘bay. Great delay tones, but one of the most intuitive (if limited in length) looper out there, as used by KT Tunstall and Steve Lawson (and I believe the E1 version on Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood’s pedalboard). Not getting enough use here though, so need to shift it on! -

Black Fender P Player Bass with in beautiful condition. The Player series are a step up from the ordinary! Serial number MX18005295. June 2018 They say: There's nothing more classic than a Fender electric bass, and the Player Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets - genuine Fender style and the rumbling, seismic sound that spawned a thousand imitations. With its smooth playing feel and spotlight-ready style, this thunderous bass is ready to enter the studio or prowl the stage and help show the world your creative vision. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. Free postage No case £550 Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4JJ All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia.

Not sure whether it’s the issue. But, it could be cut fractionally too low on the nut. ,I had a similar issue on the E string of a 4 string short scale. It really stumped my tech as it all technically looked to be correct. The issue was rectified by using a paste and bringing the string up at the nut a very tiny amount. On the face of it, it was all technically within his usual tolerances. But, after trying a few things, he raised this and it completely removed the problem.
