  2. After much experimentation over the last few months, I have now settled on my preferred strings for each of my basses, so these unused sets are all up for sale. All prices are posted per set, but happy to combine and discount for multiple purchases. GHS Pressurewound (39.25" winding and custom made to fit Dingwall basses and imported from the US) - £40 3 x Newtone Platinum nickel roundwounds on round cores - (2 x 37" and 1 x 38" ball end to taper) - £35 2 x GHS Brite Flat groundwounds (38" ball end to taper) - £38 1 x Elites Groundwounds (38" apart from the B, which is 37.25" I think) - £30 Thanks for looking.
  3. It's not compatible with me neither. I had high hopes for a Vintage Ultra but was so disappointed. I will check out the videos of this but Darkglass are on my 'nope, won't be for me' list. I don't really do digital without a fight either 🙂
  4. The Delano Sonar 2 is an excellent aftermarket version of the Stingray preamp. If you can find a second hand Sterling by Music Man Stingray preamp, it's almost as good as an original, but remember that the pickup is very important in the Stingray sound. And you already have one. 😉
  5. If you can use a soldering iron, this: https://www.musikding.de/Classic-Bass-Preamp-Preamp-kit Don't worry, they are available by batches, so worth take a look from time to time.
  6. I'm not sure the East will fit - it's a bitsa build with a P bass body. I'm not familiar with Retrovibe - I shall investigate.
  7. ....and it's gone for £750. 👍 Anyone on here bought it?
  8. Hi all! I have this lovely 1994 Alembic Epic with a rare watermark koa top up for sale. Let me know if anyones interested 😎 I'm thinking 2300 GBP (Open to reasonable offers) best, HNJ Link to Reverb.com listing
  9. You have an extra finger on your right hand as well!
  10. John East or Retrovibe stinger?
  11. W ≠ dB Not every rating equals loudness. Frequency response should also be approximately the same. Otherwise comparison is about apples and Samsungs.
  12. Our House - Madness
  13. Hi the bass weighs 4kg /8.8lds
  14. I've been looking at the Aguilar 2 band as that is available as a stack knob, but what else is out there please? ta
  15. I wouldn't have quite as many switching options though. Just P / P+MM / MM And then have a series / parallel on the MM only. I have a good MM pickup lying about already...

  18. Each to their own, but I like the simple side of the theory that the modes are just 'major, but starting on the 2nd, 3rd 'etc. the Greek naming and way it is often presented (like earlier in this thread!) just confuse it for me. Perhaps I don't know enough anout it and am exposing my ignorance here - but as far as I can tell, learn the major scale shapes across all strings, up and down, starting on different fingers etc. really learn it by heart (I remember some SBL lesson saying this and it stuck with me - suprisingly few bass players can flawlesley play a major scale on one string, or using open strings, or jumping from the E string to D string etc) . And then you have it really, just instead of where you were starting on the '1' of a major scale start/finish on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. and get used to doing the 'shapes' from those starting points. I Don't Play Loud Music After Lunch The limitation to this is I only know how to play the modes when playing the shapes on the Bass, it'd take a lot of thought for me to translate that to other instruments or written notation.
