Next Hurtsfall gig is in Newark on Saturday 23rd August: The Facebook event page is somewhat misleading, but according to the info we've had from the promotor we'll be on at 6.00pm.

Yellowstone Trails - I was initially aiming for a baggy folk type tune, but this somehow evolved with a slight country feel - which was a nice surprise, taking a walk down different trails.

Tried listening to The Stranglers today....
Scorpion King replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
First gig I ever went to was The Stranglers at the New Theatre in Oxford in 1979, a school friend’s dad drove us there. The sound of JJ’s bass is the reason I play bass and they have been my favourite band ever since. Saw them live in Warwick in July and as usual, they were fantastic. -
Hi there. Mine still get used every week, no problem with battery life. Sorry you've had problems.

Staffwag started following Sterling Bongo...worth the wait?

As someone who has wanted a Bongo since 2008 and never been able to afford one, I'd still rather hold off an get a Music Man one day at this point. I do like the purple on offer though and it being a mahogany body over basswood.

When I saw The Killers play in Coventry in 2022 – fantastic gig – Brandon Flowers played bass on Reasons Unknown. Looks like he usually plays the bass on this song as he did on the song’s video. -
Mine have been aged naturally and were probably worked on by Leo himself. All joking aside if anyone wants one, let me know and I’ll chuck it in the post.

High Quality 3/4 DB Gigbag - suggestions?
Burns-bass replied to Happy Jack's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Yes when I had it checked and worked on by my Martin Penning he reckoned it was nearer 7/8. It would fit into a 3/4 case (albeit snugly) which confused the issue slightly. I miss that old bass. -
Basses put up for sale, didn't sell and became a main bass.

Ha ha, great thread, here’s mine…. -
Haha...I listened and played that Toto version so many times when it first was released, eventually the 7/4 bar started to sound natural, and it was the original Cream version that had a 4/4, unique twist! I also like how they introduce the intro from 'White Room' into the Guitar solo over that 16th note Bass Osinato. Thanks for posting up the chart. 👍

Ibanez SR300, or a GSR200 if money is really tight. I've used both my SR200 and 300 series and they're both great.

High Quality 3/4 DB Gigbag - suggestions?
Happy Jack replied to Happy Jack's topic in EUB and Double Bass
@Burns-bass - this makes interesting reading: The relevant measurements for your old Alcoa are 74" overall (plus 2" for the endpin), 47" body (again plus 2" for the endpin), 20.5" upper bout, 26" lower bout. I'm now thinking this isn't a 3/4 DB so much as a 7/8 DB ... -

These do look good. All joking aside I’ve got a 3 week tour potentially on the offing next year and I’d love to hear your reviews of this if you go this route. -
And yet there are some here posting their pride of having a car with a popping, banging, burping exhaust note, or a motor-bike with an illegal, after-market, 'not for road use' exhaust 'silencer'. Superfluous noise, eh..? Sometimes, apparently, it's wanted, by some.

Soledad started following Vanderkley 210MNT, excellent with cover
-
Bought a matched pair of these from a fellow Basschatter some months ago, and after a while I realise I really don't need two. I almost always go through pa anyway, and even when not, one is plenty enough. 600W; 8 ohm; 50 x 50 x 41cm; 17Kg. Excellent (high) sensitivity @ 100dB/1W/1metre. Freq response 45 - 16k Hz. Condition is excellent, never driven hard and cosmetically very good (Vanderkley's 'carpet' covering is a lot nicer than most). HF control is very effective and whilst the horn is really smooth and musical (many are not IMHO) I back it to around 10 o'clock. My overall opinion (shared by very many others I think) - truly outstanding cabs, they put out what you put in (I mean nicely uncoloured), really articulate, detailed and above all a joy to listen to. Also don't need loads of watts to drive them, my Eich 900 is hugely excessive and is set on tick-over most of the time. Located Sevenoaks, come and try - or I'll drive up to 50 miles to meet up. Sorry, no trades, funds already commited on an acoustic guitar (!?!).

I've never aspired to function band work. I've probably not got the skill set anyway. The only functions I've done have been for friends who know what we do and are happy with our normal set. I've never seen the attraction of weddings. There's often a lot of travelling involved. There's usually lots of restrictions about setting up and knocking down at the end so it tends to be a very long day. The band is inevitably a bit of a side show, you work hard to fill the dance floor and then someone has to make a speech or there is a cake to be cut or whatever and you have to go again. They can be fun but more are just a chore, you aren't really encouraging me to start looking for weddings now

Currently taking a look at https://messinacovers.com/bass-covers but there's absolutely no pricing info that I can see. 🙄 -
