My Aria Pro II CSB-300 Cardinal Series, made on the legendary Matsumoku factory in Japan, sometime in the early 80's, that I bought recently: 32" scale length, Ash body, 3 piece Maple neck, with a Rosewood fretboard. After a thorough setup it plays non less than amazing, and sounds great! Definitely pleased with this buy! I did have to lower the bridge saddles as low as they go to get them to my preferred just about 2mm string action low E string 12th fret, but it is perfect as is now, so not really an issue. The pickup is a bit noisy when not touching any metal parts, so might need to shield it properly at some point, but as said, it does sound great, and is quiet, as long as touching metal parts or strings. Being used to playing 28.6" scale basses for the last past 10 years or so I am surprised how effortlessly this bass is to play. It does have a pretty chunky neck, but it is pretty narrow, with a string spacing of just 16.5mm, like my main 5 string Ibanez GSRM25 Mikro Bass. Nice to finally have a bass again that can be tuned in regular E standard tuning, without compromising the tone. I am also positively surprised with how little fret wear it got, practically non. I have given it the name "Dud Bottomfeeder Sr.", after my 4 string Mikro, which is named "Dud Bottomfeeder II".

I thought basses in boxes were too big for EVRI? It's one of the reasons I don't use them, but not the main reason. "Evri (formerly Hermes) has a maximum parcel length of 120cm for most services. Additionally, the combined length and girth (circumference) of a parcel cannot exceed 245cm." I suspect Interparcel disregarded EVRI's rules and mis-sold you the service. Parcelforce 24 has been good for me for a while now, I say that, because at some point, they are bound to f**k up too. Rob -

Just for you BassmanPaul,,,,,,,,,,,,,pics added 😊😊😊 Due to the ill health of my wife ( Parkinsons and Dementia ) my life , and playing in bands , stopped two years ago, and I now care for her 24/7 . The only little bit I have of my life is playing bass for five or ten minutes a day , the rest of the day is caring for her . This came up on Reverb over here at £199 ,,,,,,,,,,,,how could I not buy it . I aint got many years left myself ( I`m 78) so why not treat myself . Its heavy (69Ib) but what a sound . It takes me back to when I started playing in the early 60`s Pete

Sent a bass 2 weeks ago with Evri 48hr, booked through Interparcel (but insured via Securus). The bass was double boxed in 'exactly' the same double walled (x2) boxes that the manufacturer delivered in. It went off no probs via my selection in Interparcel and was delivered FIVE days later. Now that 3 day delay isn't the issue; I was miffed at the service but the buyer received it safe and sound and was over the moon with the bass. Fast forward 2 weeks and I receive an email from Interparcel stating I owed £25 because: "An additional charge has been applied due to non-standard packaging, which required manual handling by the carrier. This includes items that are irregularly shaped, cylindrical (e.g. tubes, carpets), packaged with cling film, bubble wrap, string, or excessive tape, or placed in bags or sacks. These types of packaging do not meet the carrier’s automated processing requirements." At first I thought 'scam' but the address to reply/pay looked right. I contacted Interparcel and they say the claim is brought by Evri against me. I'm obviously going to contest it but it might be worth folk being aware that these are not phishing scams but appear to be Evri chancing their arm for extra fees. Oh and here is the irregular packaging.

I've finally decided to sell my beautiful Vigier Passion III as it is sitting forlorn and unplayed and really needs to find a good home where it can be properly appreciated. I bought it new from Bass Direct in 2014 (one of the photos I've attached was the original one from the Bass Direct web site!) and it has never been gigged. It is absolutely mint with no marks or scratches and is as clean as it's possible to be! I has a parametric preamp and the signature neck that Vigier use to avoid the need for a truss rod.) It comes with a custom Vigier hard case. Working perfectly, playing wonderfully, and a pleasure to own. Happy to take payment in person by bank transfer once you've seen it and are happy. Either here at my home in Winchcombe, or I can drive a meet you halfway from wherever you live (within reason!) Photos attached, but if you want to see/hear it being played (someone inexpertly) you can see me playing it here:

Yeah they do get some great ones sometimes, I saw that 1965 Fender Precision Bass the other day, it’s mint for the year beautiful

I I didn’t go back to bare wood on the majority of it. Harley Benton use some sort of poly to seal under the paint so I left as much of that as I could. I went over the whole thing with Rustins grain filler and their sanding sealer. I wasn’t so impressed with the grain filler and would try Nitorlack next time as it doesn’t go on very well even when well thinned. it’s the second time I have tried Rustins and both times it wasn’t great. I’m open to any suggestions from the wise as to a good and easy to apply grain filler?

I’ve always sung backing and some lead. I think the secret is not try and play too complicated a bass line. Sting was a good example. With time it becomes more natural and your bass lines will become more technical.

This dealer pops up on my FB. They have a gorgeous mint OW p bass just in stock. Some nice gear, although the highest pricing. https://www.guitarbroker.com/product-category/bass-guitars/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwL13e1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkpxgd69CVPoqD0Xlc5W_tuONjkMqIPAQ3VjzdihC7OhQiP5AR25oxzQ4lH2_aem_auajZQqWdeqJA2QvLhmKzA

2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)
