  2. I'm using D'Addario XLR8 for lube....ooo err, but sometimes it's just not enough. I have three early 70's P basses, so I figured it's no big deal to string one of them up with rounds. Given that you seem to prefer flats, how do you deal with the rounds?
  3. Job lot of Lava Tightrope Solderless cables. 28 cables of varying in length from approx 2 inches to 2 feet, plus 1 long (2ft ish) George L's cable that I found in a drawer that i'll throw in. Most worked fine the last time I had them on a board, some probably need to re-assembled (haven't got the time to test them all at the moment). A couple scraps of used cable that can be trimmed/reassembled into new cables, and one purple bit of cable that has never been used. These are super simple to put together, there's plenty of videos on YouTube of the process. Will include one of the cable stripping tools as well. £200 + postage for the lot. The current Lava cable sets are £60 for 10 jacks/5 cables, so this is a pretty good deal.
  4. Up for sale is my Bright Onion Mini Dual Momentary Footswitch. Perfect companion for HX Stomp etc to add a couple of switches. In great condition, with velcro on the bottom. Will include a 28cm EBS Flat TRS Patch Cable (£7 new). This pedal + cable would be £40 posted from Bright Onion, so on offer here for £28 posted. Any questions, please ask. Cheers!

  6. Spotted this one on Reverb a week or two ago and it's been on my mind constantly. Killer looking bass, love the RG shape - hardly ever see it in bass but the guitars are just so timeless, reminds me of the 80s shredders. PJ pickups and a nice looking neck, Gotoh tuners too. It's got my name written all over it, and I'd already be thinking of buying it but for one fatal flaw. What on Earth is that finish? Glam went out of fashion almost 40 years ago! https://reverb.com/uk/item/89622765-ibanez-rg-bass-1989-feline-limited-edition
  7. Private party in Southend on Sunday evening. It was for friends of one of our singers throwing a party before emigrating to Australia, so lots of Australian theme decorations, hats and inflatables in the venue. The venue itself is called ‘The Lounge Club’, a beautiful jazz bar with a decent well equipped stage area (including hidden power outlets), great lighting and green room - we were truly spoiled. The club has a mix of jazz and soul acts usually, with a number of tribute acts, so it quite fun to bring some heavier rock to the place. We brought our own PA, but the club owner said we could go through their house system, so we just run a couple of xlr leads out of our mixer direct to their patch bay and let them control the volume. Said system consisted of two huge subs either side of the stage and a couple of large tops flown from the ceiling. Quite a bit pokier than our megreat 12” tops and single 12” sub. Personally, I feel it needed a centre fill, but apparently it sounded great further away from the stage. I think they were calibrated a bit on the bossier side (as proven when the DJ played music when we took a break and finished - almost painfully loud and you could feel the bass in you stomach), I had to run the hpf on our mixer up to 90hz to stop it overwhelming the mix - it could possibly have gone even higher. As such I was worried that my IEM mix would be lacking, but it sounded fine with the subs filling in the low end. First set was a little lacking in audience participation, but by the time we kicked off the second set set everyone was sufficiently fuelled for a proper party. Really enjoyed this one. Just looking out to see a large club full of dancers throwing balloon and inflatables around was a sight to behold. It reminded my of the good old Top of the Pops days in the 70s and 80s. We had some lovely comments and gave our plenty of business cards, including the couple who booked us who said we were better than the £5k band they booked for their wedding. We really ought to be charging more for these events. Hopefully the venue will be able to recommend us to anyone else who wants to book a rock, pop and party band! Next stop, this Thursday at the Cricketers in Southend. A double header with another local covers band, in aid of the RNLI. Should be an interesting night.

  9. I have rounds on one of my basses. The band leader wants that sound. I'm ok with it, but I use the lowest value bass. I recognise the occasional stickiness of flats that you describe. I just lick my fingers a lot!!
  10. Nicest EBMM Sterling I've ever seen. Lovely bass.
  11. I had a TC RH750 and two TC 2 x 10 cabs for ten years. Best sounding rig I've owned never let me down. I had a small crack in one of the pre set buttons but that was all. Sold it to buy GR AT gear because it's so light and I'm not getting any younger. I wouldn't buy their gear now as they have been taken over and previously excellent customer service is now crap.
  12. I've been a die hard flats kind of chap, and currently my Fender Precision basses are strung with LaBella Low Tension Flats. 80% of the time I love them, but on sweaty summer festival stages, and hot pub/club gigs, they can really get sticky and grabby, and feel the opposite of smooth and glidey. Also, on some of those gigs, the amps provided are a bit hit and miss, and at our latest gig this weekend, I was far from impressed by an Ampeg SVT-3, which in the hurried set up I just couldn't dial in to my satisfaction despite starting from a flat EQ. The resulting tone was "wooly" at best, and bear in mind, I do like an old school tone!. Think Sean Hurley and Pino with John Mayer and that's my target. So, I've decided to carry a bass strung with rounds. I may even use that bass over the others at first to give them a fair go, and see what I think. For the more nerdy among us, the strings I've ordered are LaBella RX-N4D 45-65-85-105 I would like to know if you play both, and in what situations you choose one over the other. Anyway, thanks for listening. Rob,
  13. Hi guys. Looking to trade my original (I believe 1989) Bartolini Tobias split pickups for same era dual coil pickups. I know some folks preferred the sound of the splits as they have a little more of that J bass vibe to them. I prefer the duals for what I’m after so if anyone has a pair and willing to trade, I’d be very interested. No sales, I’m strictly looking for a trade only. They are in a good shape considering the age, and work and sound exactly as they should. Again not looking for Gibson era pickups, have tried most of these and they’re not my jam. Thanks!
  14. After charging up, I've done a short test. Same audio quality as the Lekato, and indeed the transmitters and receivers will cross-connect if set to the appropriate channels. For under £30, an absolute bargain.
  15. I so totally would not even know where to start with that glwts
  16. Sorry.. literally sold it yesterday on marketplace and forgot to update the add.
  17. Very nice, congrats , I’ve got a 2014 one, they really are great jazzes
  18. Today
  19. I’m potentially interested in the Dean Pace EUB if you’d let that go separately - I could also maybe do something with the P Bass depending on what the damage is 🤔
  20. Korg B2 + Korg PU-2 + Gator GKB-88-SLIM + RTX 93 + RTX KBX, everything in almost new condition and, of course, fully working. Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. It will be delivered complete with PDF user manuals, namely: Korg B2 (with power supply and music holder), new price: 419 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_b2_black.htm), Korg PU-2 (optional triple pedal), new price: 75 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_pu_2.htm), Gator GKB-88-SLIM (semi-rigid carrying case), new price: 109 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/gator_gkb_88_slim.htm), RTX 93 (adjustable keyboard stand), new price: 37.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/stands-clavier-rtx-x93-stand-p20358.html), RTX KBX (adjustable bench), new price: 45.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/banquettes-clavier-rtx-kbx-p17536.html). A grand total of 686 Euros, new. I'm leaving everything, in impeccable, almost new condition (I'm a maniac for my gear), for €375 Euros, delivered to your home or picked up at my place, in which case I'll be offering a Lewitz/Revoltage HP710 (closed-back headphones), new price 23.90 Euros (https://www.muziker.be/fr/revoltage-hp710). The Korg B2 also has the advantage of being able to act as an audio return via its USB port, which is very practical for using it as a master keyboard on a PC, and having the sound coming directly from the keyboard. Link to the Korg B2 website: https://www.korg.com/fr/products/digitalpianos/b2/ Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury, without mentioning a painful tendonitis on the right arm, I'm selling all the stuff I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! 21. That is the main argument against AI derived “art”
  22. They really turned the American range around post 2012. Totally different to the vintage basses but no less wonderful!
  23. As above really. Wal bought a set of strings from me. Payment was instantaneous and communications polite, friendly and extremely timely. An excellent interaction with a top Basschatter 😎
