  1. Past hour
  2. Many thanks. I’ve lived with these suites for four decades and on a variety of instruments and tunings, with each instrument and tuning bringing out different shades and colours. There are worst ways to spend one’s time.
  3. Have you tried playing it an octave up to see if it tracks better, you can always octave down the output, but that would half the required pitch detection time, which might be enough?
  4. … I’d absolutely love this, shame no £££ GLWTS
  5. Correct, you can route your dry input into the filter (with separate pre- and post-distortion level controls) without having the synth be active; this is how I program stuff like envelope filters on the FI. Any standard cheap USB-to-MIDI cable will work. Worth having a read of the FAQs at the end of the manual as it may answer stuff you want to know.
  6. ***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  7. You’re welcome! 😎
  8. already had enough corona after the last 6 years, and i'm not talking about the beer though I do love a good PINT
  9. I bought this new in April last year, using it briefly before discovering GR Bass. As such, everything is in mint condition and I still have the original boxes too so shipping is an option. This is an incredibly versatile amp, so much so that I couldn't possibly run through everything it can do here. There are lots of video reviews worth watching, but I am going to guide you to our very own Dood's review here, which gives a good deep dive into the amp. Boss Katana 500 Bass Head (£734) Boss BT-DUAL Bluetooth adapter (£45), so you can adjust settings on the fly via the app Boss GA-FC pedal (£99)l, again, for ease of switching in a live setup Boss VE-22 Vocal Processor Bag (£74), a perfect fit for the amp, power lead and a couple of speaker cables I’ve added some pictures taken today but forgot to add proof of ownership. Hopefully folks will know I am a stand up guy on here and save me the effort of retaking the pictures.

  10. Location: Teesside (N.E.)
  11. You're just baiting now, aren't you? 😅
  12. Today
  13. Were strads super-special back then? Just another maker of hand-built violins
  14. When using short scale strings, the E string always sounds somewhat dead and disconnected from the sound of the other 3 strings on my U5. Yesterday I used an old long scale E string strung-thru the body, and what a massive improvement!
  15. Such a great tone. It does all the work for him.
  16. Very tempted to get one now. Torn between this and a Nano Cortex.
  17. I personally can't wait to get my hands on one. I'm not much of one who will tweak and fiddle with sounds so I'm super keen to try and use the Michael Jackson Thriller preset. I also use octave all the time so the octave setting looks like it will be used and if it replaces my Boss OC5 then I'll get a space back on my pedalboard. I just have to wait for them to be available to buy again.
  18. I dont have a hardcase for this bass, but you dont have to worry about the shipping-it will be packaged well.
  19. This bit from the manual looks as though it will do what I want: Looking at the screen shot of the editor page it looks as though I can turn off the volume of the synth section without affecting the volume to the audio input through the VCF. Can @Quatschmacher confirm? Also can I use one of those DIN to USB MIDI leads to access the editor software? Or do I need a proper MIDI interface? The low profile MIDI and jack plugs look as though they will allow me to fit the device in the space on my Helix. The only sticking point is the PSU. Does that mean that no PSU is supplied with the device? The Helix provides phantom power via its Mic input but I don't think there's sufficient current even when dropped to 9v. At the moment my Helix is my pedalboard. So I don't have any external PSUs and IME they are most common source of failure (usually on the low voltage cable and connector side) when used in gigging situations. The whole point of looking at the FI VIP is that it won't make my on-stage pedal footprint any bigger.
  20. All my builds are in fact custom jobs. But they have to be Brooks basses. I don't build 1:1 copies. Nor do I have a desire to build fantasy shapes or amoebic creatures 😉 I am not an electronics wizard. So I don't offer to build custom circuits. I did work together with an effects builder for a weird bass a while ago. But I will not go that path again. But using pre-amps (like EMG or Bartolini) that are readily available is no problem.
