No rehearsal this week, last week, the week before..... I´m hearing excuses all the time. Everything else is more important than rehearsing. It seems that it´s time to look for a new band. Motivation is at it´s lowest ever. Not that we had many gigs, like 5 or 6 a year. But nobody cares anymore. 🤮 rant over

Naw my preamp needs have been well met by Simone these last number of years with a little dalliance with tube DI’s and transformer based fun. I think it’s already been discussed that they’re two different units and I’ve listened to the Phil Conrad A/B where he compared the SV and the SGT-DI and form those audio clips I preferred the Bassrig. We all have different needs and whatnot. To be fair on that thread there’s not that many responses and there’s some positive and negatives for both units. Build quality, bounce and feel of a tube amp and there’s nothing to say all those responding have A/B’d both units. Some folk are ever preferring the SGFX BetaV. Some dislike the built in cab sim on the SV, most folk didn’t rate the SGT-DI compressor choosing (somewhat ironically) the Origin unit. Banter aside lots of different flavours of Ampeg out there for all budgets and tastes.

Pile on I had to return a guitar to CC in Liverpool mid last year (faulty trem) PF/RM's "Proof of Delivery" photo was of the boxed guitar on the rear bumper of the delivery Van! ... .I Sent a complaint via the web site and was finally given a yep but no but yep kind of apology ....we checked the Geo local on the photo and it was taken near the delivery address....wtf kind of CS is that? And so to this evening im waiting in for RM to deliver a laptop that's had it's ETA changed 4 times already today (anywhere from between 8:45 to 17:45) and then the real time tracking app/map goes totally dead after claiming it's less than "5 stops away" and then I a get a "Delivery Attempted - Address Inaccessible" message..... thing is i have CCTV front and back and nobody has tried to access out property at any time today also and No RM vans have even entered the street.....after a bit of searching online i fond the RM CS phone line (nowhere is it listed on their own site btw so i had to get an LLM to dig it up...) I get past all the frontline bots (don't choose any options and it freaks out) and im then told it's a 60 min wait to talk to a human...total .joke of a company.

Even better than Canva, but owned by Canva, there is now Affinity. This is also free and goes way beyond Canva. Even has a vector graphics mode. All base don the old Affinity programs. As a side note, i work for a printing company, and Canva users are a nightmare. Ok if you know what you are doing, not ok if you think you know what you are doing. Bleed a crops? What all that then? 🙄

I’ve not seen this mentioned yet, so I’d also like to nominate my 2nd place (by a very small nose) album - Led Zeppelin II. Listening to John Paul Jones’ genius on this album taught me LOADS about not just being a bass player, but about being a musician who plays the bass.

Reminds me of when we used to do a layer of sacrificial icing on the kids birthday cakes to fend off the spit that came with blowing out candles! I like them for outdoor use, and also if (as you say) people of unknown origin are going to use them!

Sooooo, spent a fun hour or so the other night taking my 2022 Rickenbacker 4003 apart and checking all the connections, pots etc to figure out why the volume for one of the pickups wasn't working. Put it back together only to find I couldn't get the tone working either. Turned out I was turning the wrong knobs. I've been playing my Gibson EB-2D a fair bit recently, and the volume for the neck pickup is where the tone for the neck pickup is on the Rick. I have now invested in a set of labelled knobs from Rickysounds. This is another reason why I like Precisions.

While I know the arguments, there is something deeply painful about replacing large satisfying boxes with such a small one...
