  1. Past hour
  2. Ouch, that is nice!
  3. Thanks, it is a special bass. I'm surprised it's still here at this price.
  4. I did a thread on it a couple of years back. I love the tone of Jazz basses and I love the look but I definitely noticed a drop in low end frequency when playing in small bands with this one. I've had it since 2015 and usually play a range of different basses, from Precision to Rickenbacker to Hofner to Thunderbird. We never did get to the bottom of whether it was me, my settings, my bass, the pickups or something else. Coincidentally there was a younger band on after us and the bass player had a Fender Jazz which had no bottom end too - far worse than mine. The first Jazz bass I owned had different string volumes so I sold that on but I have had a couple of good ones in-between. I bet the Maruszczyk sounds good as I think it's some of the Fender ones that can be a bit of a mixed bag. Anyhow, it sounded good last night so hopefully the problem is solved.
  5. Ah balls. Missed it again. i had some stuff roughed out but I’ve basically been away for most of the month. some great stuff here - I’ll join in the voting x
  6. I totally agree with the sentiment, the issue is £3900 was all I had available to me at the time and couldn’t find the extra £100. Just one of those things.
  7. Surprised by that. Can’t say I have experienced lack of bottom end on a Jazz, compared to say a Precision. Maybe I have been lucky with mine (current one being a Maruszczyk Elwood 4a 32”) but perhaps your yardstick is a humbucker equipped bass?
  8. Strymon Blue Sky reverb pedal for sale. In good condition, boxed with original power supply. £170 collected from Newcastle
  9. If I really really like a bass, especially if it's a relatively expensive (£2k+) vintage one that I'm unlikely to find again, I definitely wouldn't lose it for the sake of £100. Sometimes however, I think we might subconsciously put obstacles in the way when we're not 100% sure we really want an instrument.
  10. not sure how but ive only recently discovered this bunch after following cardiacs gong and kavus torabi for some time
  11. Bought a pickup from Dan, held off shipping as I was on holiday. It was fantastically packed and was waiting for me when I got home. Top bloke!
  12. Good morning all, Voting is up and ready for you Lovely stuff in there as well, quite a mellow take on it!
  13. With what amounted to a near runaway victory in these parts, we had a resounding outright July win for @Chiliwailer It was a well supported month with some great material and thus a worthy winner. His choice of inspiration for us ... "It's summer, and if it were possible I know where I'd rather be right now.... I hope you all also find this image of trekking in Yellowstone Park inspiring." So, for the entries , pick your 2 favorites from these 1 @Baloney Balderdash A calm folky instrumental, that seems fitting for the picture and location of it, complete with backwards intro that mirrors the mirror lake of the image : 2 @Chiliwailer Yellowstone Trails - I was initially aiming for a baggy folk type tune, but this somehow evolved with a slight country feel - which was a nice surprise, taking a walk down different trails. 3 @Leonard Smalls When someone says Yellowstone I immediately think of El Capitan, which rises majestically out of Tuolumne Meadows, a mere 811 miles and two states away in Yosemite. So here we have a bit of dub, perfect for watching the sunset from your Portaledge halfway up El Cap's most famous route, The Nose. 4 @Jean-Luc Pickguard Take note of the warning signs and watch where you step. 5 Lurksalot Yellowstone is Just as much grizzly as Disney , a beautiful stroll here ... a grizzly there, a beautiful stroll here ... old faithful steam boiling hot water geyser there , from lovely green valleys to scalded wastelands 6 @upside downer Hey, what's the rush? Life's too hectic. Take a stroll, breathe a little and just enjoy being in the moment. That's all folks With 6 entries I'd suggest 2 votes each this month , so we'll close the poll at midnight on 31st Good luck all

  14. No not always, as we know there are so many variables with the originality of these instruments. But as a general rule of thumb it gives a good idea.
  15. I just listened to that track on headphones. The bass sound is actually very good and defined. The problem, as you say, is that it does get buried to an extent by that awful distorted rhythm guitar. This is why I like playing in trios. More space to play with.
  16. Probably time for an electrician to get involved.
  17. The thumbnail image looks AI, something about the proportions of the lettering and the amount of yellow tones. It likes yellow, I don't know why.
  18. Fits a 2EQ or 3EQ Stingray with truss rod wheel, so approx 1990-2018. Made by the people in California that produced the original EBMM matte black pickguards back in the 90s / 00’s, this is one I custom ordered a few years ago. But my bass is now HH so I have a similar replacement. It’s got some scratches, as pictured, but you don’t want a shiny new pickguard on your 30 year old instrument right? 😊 £40 collected, or I can post via Royal Mail at cost.
  19. I'm A Boy - The Who
  20. I've been amp less/ in ears with the current band for the last 18 months. Rig is a Shure wireless, compressor, and EBS Micro bass 2. I realised recently I never actually change anything during a gig so have very recently rehoused the pedals along with my in ear transmitter and personal mixer into a new rack that sits on top of the band's main rack. All the bits and pieces go into a 1 unit drawer. It saves me having to run 4 cables across the stage, and setup/breakdown is now a doddle. I'm seriously thinking of getting a wireless mic so I can have no cables - even though I only sing bvs in a few songs.
  21. Sold @Phaedrus01 a pickup, in an easygoing and friendly deal. Cheers.
  22. Today
  23. Is that the 300wABM or did you find the mini version?
  24. Another one from Jo choui, great tones here from the different amps and setups , and I quite like the groove he’s playing, never heard it before
